My last GSD passed away age 12 about 6 years ago. My wife was devastated as it was the first dog she'd ever had. She's FINALLY come around to getting another and this is what I'm looking at: https://www.working-dog.com/breed/Hohenburg-150861
The last GSD was from a "show line" and since he was a pup had issues with skin allergies and severe hip dyslasia. He was amazingly clever though and the best GSD I've ever had. We don't have any Schutzhund clubs where I am but I really want to get into the obedience and tracking aspects of the sport. Something fun to do with my new best friend. I will try to find forums that specifically cater to this but wondered if anyone here had any experience in the sport. I'm just trying to educate myself prior to the day I pick the pup up, which will be around the end of January.

my dog is only 150, he lost 20 lbs here at the new place... however ALL the coyotes run when they see him. it's pretty comical too. my dog is kinda blind and mostly sent oriented... the fucking coyotes run around him like in a cartoon... he looks one way a coyote dashes by behind him about 10-15 yards away.... it's pretty funny. on 2 occasions me and the dog had to rescue people with little dogs... they would be standing in the park holding their little animal yelling while being circled by coyotes...( only 2 or 3, kinda scary if you aren't used to it I guess ) my dog immediately drops into a dead run at the coyotes, which they kinda think is a joke, they trot off looking over their shoulders until they notice my dog is like a line backer.. and he in not stopping.... then they all haul ass and stop fucking around... having a chance to interact with the natural world is pretty awesome. I have a relationship with a conspiracy of ravens, it's a raven thing... I had a great relationship wit the ravens at the old place... new raven same deal though. they let me know when someone is coming by flying above them, calling to me. at the old place the conspiracy would follow me to the park and scout out the coyotes. when the coyotes are real hungry, they will hunt in the day time. I'm feeding all the darn birds and humming birds, wondering what that will be like this winter... and I'm working on settling a 'deer' family in that has been in the area. I think it will be cook to have some deer up here and my dog will protect them from the coyotes.... my end goal is a couple of ponies up here in a few years to ride up and down the hill... what a fucking hoot, right? ![]() BTW my fav dog is a pug... only last about a day up here though.... off to get 2 MRI's, one on each shoulder.... I have valium… |

K'nox is a handsome fellow. I've been a long time admirer of Pike ( https://www.working-dog.com/dogs-det...-del-Lupo-Nero ), so this breeding was music to my ears. After my last experience with a UK breeder, I was on the lookout for breeders in Czech Republic, Germany or Netherlands. Everything just seemed to align though with, 1) Wife giving in to getting another dog 2) A breeder in the UK that I have only heard awesome things about doing a breeding after 2 years 3) Said breeder using a sire that I've admired for a while. I've registered my interest with him and I hope things work out or I am going to be very disappointed. I don't know what to make of his message to me. Basically he said, "Not sure if Yuna is pregnant yet, and of course I have no idea what or how many puppies there will be. I will be in touch in due course." For some reason I feel that he's either had a lot fo interest already and I'm just too late, or that he'd rather see the pups go to experienced handlers. Staying optimistic though; it's all I can do.

Yeah, I have a feeling I may not get a pup from this guy which would be terribly disapponting. Yuna just completed her IPO1 last year: https://www.castlehill-kennels.com/yuna-vom-waldwinkel/ Are you active on working-dog?

We are more a fan of the nepopo training system: NePoPo® Training | Bart Bellon – NePoPo® Our dogs are listed on working-dog but we are not active members, not a big fan of their subscription model. |
