BERLIN (Reuters) - Britain crashing out of the European Union without a divorce deal would have disastrous consequences for companies and workers in Britain and across Europe, the head of the BDI German Federation of Industry said on Saturday.
Something we already knew.

but you are old enough, you have been around during the times you people destroyed your own industries through incompetence, strikes and the desperate attempt of profit maximisation. Thatcher and the Unions - you can't thank them enough.

UK and Germany are very much alike in many things, yet the Germans have a healthy economy with low unemployement and still a lot of producing industry. Both countries are in the EU, both have a large percentage of immigrants, both are net payers to the EU.

And do you have any idea how much money the reunification of Germany has cost?

Yet it's NEVER the fault of any UK government or your own people but ALWAYS the fault of the EU when things don't go the way you want it - just as countries like Italy, Greece etc use the EU as scapegoat for their own incompetency and corruption.

Is the EU perfect? By far not.

Did it give us unprecedented 70+ years of peace, economic growth, contributed to the fall of the communist Warsaw pact and gives its people the freedom to move around and live in whatever country they like?

The fuck yes.

And you idiots still don't get it - because you wouldn't realize a good thing even if it slapped you in the face.

And your migrants? 60% of them are non-EU - India, Pakistan etc - the countries you previously ruined. You can fucking leave the EU as much as you want, you'd only lose your Polish plumbers and nurses but you are still stuck with all the rest (the evil arabs, you know?).

Good luck, man, you'll need it.

but wait - you don't even live in the UK - whatever happens to your own people will not even bother you while you keep sitting in the EU you so desperately want to leave and enjoy the benefits. Just like your hero Nigel Farage who still enjoys the money he gets paid by the EU while he disappeared from the disaster he initiated.

Hypocrit.
Beautifully put, Stefan.

I view Brexit with a mix of schadenfreude and sadness... mostly schedenfreude, sadly.

I have to hold myself away from schadensfreude - but i can understand what you mean.

the brexit is the same stupid idea as a president named trump.
at the end there will be ONLY losers on every side.

the brexit and trump are the result of stupidity, gullibility and egoism. beer table economists who unfortunately also have the right to vote. it has its reason that people are only allowed to vote at a certain age. unfortunately, only age does not protect against stupidity.
this is the flip side of democracy.

The problem with the "economy" is the price many British citizens have to pay for it.

Record numbers on welfare, record numbers in poverty, record numbers with frozen wage packets, etc. Then the future where all Europe will be ruled by Brussels bureaucrats.

They have and continue to pass laws that suit no one properly and most certainly do not suit the UK. The Euro mess is a great indication of that. Creating a currency, having no central control on taxes, spending and borrowing and then giving it to anyone who asked. Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium all borrowed too much.

Now that one country has decided enough is enough. They set terms that mean the UK needs the EU's permission to become a completely self ruling country. Knowing a Hard Brexit will harm everyone in the EU. When you're that desperate to hold onto power and scare future countries from leaving. You know who is really scared. Would a free trade area be better then the EU?
