Hopefully its not that bad ive had one pulled before and its was nothing really just make sure it stays clean after.

I have of this thing called 'dry socket' as well - Don't fancy that!....

Make sure the dentist says it's OK to swish mouthwash around in your mouth. It may make the tooth hole start bleeding again.

I had a tooth that died and that was the worst pain I ever felt. I was having a toothache for a few days but it was manageable with some ambesol and aspirin. I was in crunch time on a job and had no time see to a dentist. The pain got gradually worse until I was using a bottle of tequila someone had given to me as a gift years ago. A small sip here and there would give me the most relief. The end of my deadline coincided with a holiday and I was unable to go get it pulled. I was in fucking agony almost to the point of being on the floor curled up in a ball, wondering if I should call 9-11. I had this weird idea the EMT's would laugh at me for calling 9-11 for a toothache.

My wife walked in and was seriously concerned when she saw how much pain I was in. One side of my head felt like it was being crushed in a vice and other feelings I can't describe. And I could barely speak. She called my father in law, who happens to be an oral surgeon. We got in the car to meet him at his office and I took the tequila with me. I swigged it and spit out the window when I got tired of swallowing it -- and I didn't want to get pissy drunk. I was pounding on the dashboard and we were about a block from the office when the pain just stopped almost instantly. It was really strange but I was happy as fuck at that moment. We went in anyway and got it pulled, but told me when the pain stopped, that was the nerve dying.

Mouth wash? Your a kiwi! Salt and water, 6tsp to a glass gargle and spit out wait 5 minutes gargle with fresh water.

I got 2 wisdom teeth pulled already, I've red so many horror stories about it... to me, both took 2 minutes, didn't have any pain afterwards, didn't have to take a pill one time... didn't have any dry sockets, first time I really went by the rules, no smoking for one week etc... second time I didn't give a fuck 8 hours after the "surgery" I was already on a beach drinking beer, smoking cigs carefully... never had this dry socket thing

Pff... The doctor the doctor will make an anesthetic shot in the gum and you won't feel anything. BTW how much it does cost in a private UK/NZ clinic? In Moscow it's about $50-$100 USD which is a rather expensive procedure in comparison to other regions.

Well it was horrid! - It was a hard pallet injection and I think that was worse the actual extraction...

Then to make it the nightmare I predicted they have put me on metronidazole - One of the antibiotics you really can't drink on - A week with no booze.....

It was about 250usd - Ouch...

we always drink, not heavy, but a couple of beers or glasses of wine, you´ll be alright

No, you can't drink with metronidazole, because you will feel very sick after that. As a side note for EddyTheDog, metronidazole is not an antibiotic actually. It's an antiprotozoal and antimicrobial drug.

Can't say that $250 is a good price for a tooth removal, but it's quite affordable anyway.
