Our border is a problem. No one is denying this. In the past - as recently as 2006 - Democrats voted for the Secure Fence act, including both Obama and Hillary. However, it's not a sudden crisis that needs to be resolved today. At the same time, we surely do not need to spend billions of dollars on a wall that will not solve the problem.

The efforts we currently have in place seem to be working. In 2000, 1.6 million people were apprehended trying to cross the southern border into the United States. In 2001, 1.3 million were apprehended. In 2018? Less than 400,000. That's a huge drop. Why should we spend billions of dollars more when less and less people are crossing the boarder every year?

The majority of Americans don't want this. Governors of border states don't want this.

Trump is making up a fake crisis so he can keep a campaign promise that is nothing more than a sound bite and a massive waste of money.

I love how Robbie says "Trump lies, but so does Obama" and finds this acceptable. Then he talks about the Benghazi terrorist attack and says Obama lied about it. I'm sorry, five embassies had protests the day before due to the video. That's what they thought at the time. Even if they knew the truth, there was a secret intelligence operation involved so they couldn't exactly come out and tell us the truth.

But what ever at this point. The truth is going to come out. If Trump is not impeached, the next Democratic president will demand massive investigations into what happened and will put the full weight of the FBI / CIA / etc into the investigation. The truth will come out.

You keep downplaying their vote for fence/wall whatever.. Just like Trump they were voting for INITIAL funding.. The bill Obama voted for was 1.4 billion in INITIAL funding.. Total cost was consistent with todays given increased inflation etc.. Same goes for Schumer and the rest of the gang on the times they voted. Voting on Initial funding.... With costs spread out of multiple years... To be added to over multi-year budgets... It's NO different.. The only difference is.. Trump is proposing it.. If it were Hillary proposing it, who was for a wall before she wasn't just like all the others, there would be no problem...
