what a bullshit !!!

the ice that is melting is also above the waterline (this is the reason why we can SEE IT)

out of that it is not only the water level that concerns - it is SWEAT WATER that melts into the oceans and decrease the salt content.

do you know how much life on earth depends on the oceans?

come back when you know it !

Too bad those hundreds of millions only reduce a little co2, while the industry is heating up and everybody s flying around the world or driving around in a SUV.

Problem in holland is, you need a warm water pumt that hardly fit in any house and makes a lot of noise. You need heaters in the floor as well, etcetra. For some houses it could be a good soution, when it is further developed. A nuclear plant would do the trick easier and cheaper. And people paying while Shell doesn´t pay any taxes and Germany helped their brown coal indusrty for decades with money cause the brown coal from other countries was cheaper. How is it possible, Germany spending blllions to subside brown coal mines (than they don't care about free trade and protecting markets, when it is their own interest) Since this year they import it from their friends in Russia.

I was reading an article the other day about flouride, seems it has the negative effect of calcifiying the pineal gland among other things but don't know if there's any scientific proof to it.

I am a graduated environmental engineer. I believe that global warming exists and that the main reason for that is the recent activity (last few decades) of mankind, and also believe that you are fucking retarded

I'm on the fence. Logically thinking with all the cars and pollution there must be some effect on the climate, but there are many astrophysicists out there that disagree with the consensus on global warming. And of course there are many on both sides that are bought and paid for...just look at Al Gore...that asshole said NYC would be underwater by 2014.

And just last week they said we were getting an inch of snow and 8 hours laster we got a foot dumped on us. If they can't predict the weather in 8 hours, how the hell are they predicting it 10-20 yrs from now?

Astrophysics is the study of the nature of stars and other celestial bodies, so I doubt they study the Earths climate. But if they did have an opinion on the matter they all would agree on climate change since the evidence of what CO2 does to a planet is right in our own backyard on Venus. Over 850 degrees Fahrenheit all due to CO2 in the atmosphere. It is hotter than Mercury which is the closest planet to the sun.

The graph above comes from this website: Roy Spencer, PhD by someone named Roy Spencer, a PHD and an author. Some of Mr. Spencer's books are "An inconvenient Deception" and "Global Warming Skepticism for Busy People", and "How Mother Natured Fooled the Worlds Climate Scientists".

FBI Directory McCabe is selling a book, and has had his findings about Trump dismissed on GFY because of it. I won't dismiss Spencer's ideas because he is selling books, but I think you would agree that maybe his website and its contents could be used to backup any claims in his books and help sell them. It's at least possible, right?

So anyway : On his website he talks a lot about CO2 and how little of it there is in the atmosphere, but he doesn't really talk about the other greenhouse gasses except in passing from what I could see.

But as I kept reading I found a lot of things that he was just wrong on. I googled him and found some sites like these

https://www.skepticalscience.com/ske...oy_Spencer.htm. Maybe this is true, maybe its bullshit.

My point is that this is just 1 scientist. He could be right, but, I would prefer to put my trust in agencies like NASA and NOAA who have many more testing methods at their disposal, and have many many scientists looking at all of the data, instead of just one guy selling books.

I'm not saying he's wrong and you are wrong in this argument - I'm just saying that neither you nor I are scientists - but I am choosing to believe that the earth is warming up, and that it can be a disaster, and that I don't want to really just sit on my hands about it.

No that's not correct. From https://climate.nasa.gov/resources/global-warming/ :

Weather refers to atmospheric conditions that occur locally over short periods of time—from minutes to hours or days. Familiar examples include rain, snow, clouds, winds, floods or thunderstorms.

Climate, on the other hand, refers to the long-term regional or even global average of temperature, humidity and rainfall patterns over seasons, years or decades.

What is global warming?
Global warming refers to the long-term warming of the planet since the early 20th century, and most notably since the late 1970s, due to the increase in fossil fuel emissions since the Industrial Revolution. Worldwide since 1880, the average surface temperature has gone up by about 1 °C (about 2 °F), relative to the mid-20th-century baseline (of 1951-1980). This is on top of about an additional 0.15 °C of warming from between 1750 and 1880.

What is climate change?
Climate change refers to a broad range of global phenomena created predominantly by burning fossil fuels, which add heat-trapping gases to Earth’s atmosphere. These phenomena include the increased temperature trends described by global warming, but also encompass changes such as sea level rise; ice mass loss in Greenland, Antarctica, the Arctic and mountain glaciers worldwide; shifts in flower/plant blooming; and extreme weather events.

I don't think the science is weak.

And if politicians are just trying to get money for themselves, what do you say about politicians who are trying trying to convince us that everything is fine, to relax emission standards on cars, and fire up more coal plants. Isn't it possible that they are doing a money grab?

For example in Feb 11 2019 Trump helped Murray Energy (Coal). The CEO, Robert Murray is a major Trump supporter and donor. Trump himself even tweeted about this https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/...80896342814720

"In order to understand fully the causes of climate change we must understand the complex interactions that control our environment on a global scale. Space assets provide the most effective way of studying the conditions, composition and changes of our atmosphere/biosphere on a planet-wide scale. "

And there are many Astrophysicists that disagree with the consensus on global warming. So being a layperson, it's pretty damn confusing when you have 2 highly intelligent people that study the same field come to 2 completely different conclusions. And shit, throw in the monetary factor that a lot of these people get paid off to say one thing or the other ... wow I don't understand how people can form a concrete position.
