According to newly released data, several migrant groups of different national origins in Switzerland have welfare dependency rates well above 50 per cent, with over 80 per cent of Somalis in the country taking state handouts.

The data was gathered and released by both the Federal Statistical Office and the State Secretariat for Migration and shows that the 4,000 or so Somalis in Switzerland are by far the most prone to being on government benefits with 83.7 per cent relying on state income, 20 Minutes reports.

While Somalis are by far and wide the largest recipients of welfare, several other nationalities also have rates of over 50 per cent, such as Eritreans at 54.7 per cent and Angolans at 54 per cent.

No. There are typically requirements for legal immigrants to meet base level standards indicating that they can take care of themselves and will not be leeching off of public resources. This goes for most countries. Immigrants that can pay into the host country, by starting businesses, investing, have special skills, etc. they get additional "perks," if you will. i'm on 3rd semester of technician pharmacist atm.
we had one very pretty girl on 1st semester (here in Poland) who finished pharmacy on the university on the ukraine and she was trying to do technician with us to get into polish pharmacy job (which is very restricted), we though "wow, she will be great, she's real pharmacist not like us noobs" well, turns out she won't be able to do anything here, literally zero pharmacy knowledge and unable to cope with us on 1st semester. she quit ofc.

It's funny because we grew up always hearing how America was the greatest country in the world and that experience certainly opened my eyes. First thing I noticed were the condition of the roads, smooth as silk and you would never see a pothole anywhere. The people I knew there all had an education, 20 year olds were nurses, computer programmers, etc, all trained in high school and were career ready by the time they got out of school. No one got out of school having to work at McDonalds for slave wages to survive. My friend that I was staying with said the only people that work those jobs were migrants. Oh, and you never saw jackasses walking around with guns like Republicans would like you to believe. Matter of fact there were very harsh penalties for someone carrying a gun in their glovebox, etc.

If you became a refugee due to war or some other issue you couldn't control, then if the country that took you in was say.. China. Do you think you would be capable of getting a job there in 6 months or even a year?
