Impossible Burgers !
It took some time but in this third world state of Maine we finally got the Impossible Burger. I tried one today and to say i was underwhelmed is putting it mildly, to me it had the taste of thick chewy cardboard with about the same flavor. I am seeing all these Burger King adverts with actors spouting off about how they taste just like real burgers. They must be on crack with a large paycheck ? I dont see how they will ever simulate burger meat without good old fat and grease ?

We go to a local vegan place where they have mushroom burgers.... They are great.
Haven't tried this "impossible burger" yet. My kid is vegan and I gave it a try for about six months and there is some good vegan food.

Yeah, black bean or mushroom burgers are much better. I think the Impossible brand just got some good marketers...

we are starting to see them more in canada and all of them are being pushed. if you read the ingredients you will be more underwhelmed than the actual taste. as they are not healthy in the least.
If you really don't want to eat meat then don't, but you can't replace it with that and pretend it's healthy.

I was disappointed as i was hoping for a health alternative that tased like meat. I agree the hype is good the reality leaves a lot to be desired.

I tried them with the hopes it would be a good healthy alternative. I was very disappointed and after looking at the ingredients I was a little sad.
I love a good burger too much and it will be hard to replicate that!

I've tried it 3 times now. Twice at A&W in a Burger, and once at Tim Hortons in a. breakfast sandwich.
A&W Did it right. It was a pretty good burger with tomatoes and lettuce, etc. Each bite t "lighter" than a Burger, and after each meal I felt Satisfied, but, I still felt like there was something missing. I will try it a few more times. At Tim Hortons I took breakfast meal that was like of like an Egg McMuffin. It was terrible, but I think maybe they over cooked it because it was hard and flavourless. Regardless I think the Impossible Burgers and Beyond Meat things are here to stay. I will definitely keep trying them until I think I've had a good enough sample to say for sure.

The name Impossible Burger is true to the product, it is fucking impossible to eat.
The best burgers are the ones where the main ingredient was hanging at the butcher shop before being made into a pattie. McDonalds doesn't have these but any good country town in Australia will have amazing (real meat) burgers. |

if they actually cared about your health they would just serve well made salads... they don't and they don't. this is marketing 101 nonsense and a lot of people are putting down their fidget spinners to 'give them a shot'

Yeah it was good, I've also tried a Vegan burger and it wasn't bad either, but my burgers that I cook at home are a lot better.
Also my dishes. ![]()

What marvelous chemicals are these Impossible Burgers made of and how many people will be dying of some new formed cancer in 30 years because of it?
As if we don't eat enough trash as it is… If you want a burger, get a burger. You will be satisfied and you can get them from quality meat. Eating something you don't want under the guise of health (when it's really not healthy) will just piss you off.

I don't expect health food when I go to A&W, and don't really expect a Beyond Meat Burger to be healthier than a regular burger. I go because I want food that tastes good and is in my greedy little hands seconds after I order it.

"Impossible Foods uses heme from the roots of soy plants to mimic the texture and color of ground beef. Because it's made from plants, the Impossible Burger contains a broader range of vitamins and minerals than beef does. But there is one thing no plant patty can match (yet) -- the protein content in animal meat.Aug 5, 2" https://www.cnet.com/how-to/impossib...-need-to-know/

It may not be trash. So far its an interesting alternative. I'd say, do your research and then give it a try sometime. For me the taste varies between restaurants, but I've only tried 3 so my sample rate is too low to count. I plan to keep trying it for a year or so before I make up my mind. Agreed. Nothing beats a real burger. Usually, yes. Quote:

Of course, soy. All I need to know to stay away. :-)
Y'all enjoy. Austin has way too many good burgers to even fathom touching something like that.

it doesn't matter at all how it tastes to know its going to fail.
your brain categorizes information and once it does, its incredibly difficult to change associations and the boxes it put that information is. in our lifetimes, "hamburger" will never mean "delicious soy patty" no matter how much marketing dollars are thrown at the problem. it can only succeed by creating a new category for your brain to put this new thing into... where marketing can then define that new thing, unimpeded by comparisons, associations and prior experience and information. the more marketers try to push the idea of it being a "hamburger" and the more they attempt to muddy those waters in the prospects mind, the more the idea of "hamburger" gets muddled in peoples minds. you cannot have both exist simultaneously in the brain, in that same category/box. you can only weaken one with the other. this stupidity is just another weak attempt at pandering while ignoring obvious realities coke spent countless millions on testing a new formula which was proven through diligent testing and research to be 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt, better tasting and be more preferred than the old formula. where is new coke now? it failed because "taste" was only a minor factor in the larger market equation. brains are hard wired to resist change.

Soy-protein concentrate Coconut oil Sunflower oil Natural flavors. Impossible "meat" also contains 2% or less of: Potato protein Methylcellulose ( i used this stuff in special effects back in the UK add it to liquid to make it thicken ) Yeast extract Cultured dextrose Food starch, modified Soy leghemoglobin Salt Soy-protein isolate Mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) Zinc gluconate Thiamine hydrochloride (Vitamin B1) Sodium ascorbate (vitamin C) Niacin Pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6) Riboflavin (vitamin B2) Vitamin B12 The Impossible Burger is kosher and halal certified but not organic. Exactly, its how you cook them and what ingredients and sauce you put with them. I opened a vegan restaurant with someone and they sold like mad because I know how to cook them.

I haved tried impossible burgers and beyond burgers.
Beyond burgere kicks ass on Impossible burgers. Much better tasting. ![]() Impossible wasn't horrible but left an aftertaste that was unpleasant. I had to go to a restaurant because they do not have patties or meat aavailable at the market. I got the Beyond Burgers at a local super market and grilled them up. So, the comparison was not 100% apples to apples. When impossible burgers become available around here for home cooking I might try to give them a better test but for right now, when I have vegetarian guests I have Beyond Burgeres in the freezer if they want them. .

Fast food chains have been substituting meat for years bit by bit dna tests prove already soy proteins added but take out all the real meat and all of a sudden processed foods becomes a good thing how so..

Aside from not tasting like a burger, a fake vegan substitute will not give you that primal dose of pure beef power that a real burger will give you. They should call them "Bitch Burgers".

Yes it will deprive instinct but if vegans stick to becoming grazing animals well we will be able to herd them up brand them as grain fed 100% meat.
