:2cents Anyone here invest in COMIC BOOKS?

Just saying.

I have few CGC graded but nothing too spectacular.

I need to start, comic books are good investments too if grade is high.

I have some in my closet that I haven't seen in about 20 years.

In about 20 more years I'll see how much they are worth.

I collected a lot of them when I was a kid and it turns out most of them were worthless, with a few nice exceptions.

A friend of mine recently sold his entire collection. He had about 5,000 books. About 100 of them had some real value and came to about $5000. For the rest he got 40 cents each.

If you can find the right ones and get them for a good price, you can make some money. If you are going to sell some, try doing it when the corresponding comic book movie is out. A few years back when Venom was the main villain in one of the Spider-Man movies I sold my two Spider-Man comics that feature the first appearance of venom and got a few hundred each for them. Now they are worth about half that. Female Thor might be about to go up in value.

think about that

I have heard that the market for most collectibles has been down. Just a function that the baby boomers liked to colllect and no one after them does. This was from a guy who worked with stuff like that.

Comics were good

Comics were good but right now people are so much busy spending time on phone and videos that everybody appreciates it but nobody wants to pay for it.

Just look at DC Comics and Marvel. They have shifted to pictures. Plus, no new super heroes are made.

MyComicShop.com has a large inventory with asking prices, plus they offer consignment for more desirable issues from private collections. CGC census info is also available to get a sense of how rare an issue is in higher grades.

ebay has a filter to display completed auctions, both sold and also listings ended without a buyer.

If buying comic books for an investment, stick with Bronze Age and earlier (pre-1976). More modern titles are plentiful and mostly worthless or are fads that will not have enduring value.

I sold majority of books to them back in the day, they pay good amount for it. There are some modern age books worth brick of gold, but mostly i look at Bronze age too.

Thanks. I collected them some 30 years ago. Most are in mint condition still and in plastic covers. But they are almost all from the 1988-1995 era.
