BEWARE using PAXUM - attempted to withdraw funds, they closed my account without notice

Just a warning, I attempted to to withdraw funds from Paxum and they closed my account without warning, the only explanation I received was some vague reference to "your account has been closed as it is outside our risk appetite, no further information can be provided in this regard"

This makes no sense as I've had an account with them since epassporte shut down years ago and they kept accepting money into my account as recently as ten days ago. I haven't sent or withdrawn money in years, I just had a balance of ~$XXXX sitting there which I wanted to withdraw, then they closed the account.

If you have any funds with them I would recommend withdrawing them immediately (if you can), and if you're using them to process payments be aware that the recipient may not receive them.

Smells of epassporte all over again.

Good luck.

There is three sides to every story/situation.

Nonetheless, I want to clarify, did you successfully receive all your money from the closed PAXUM account?

NO. They did not refund me.

They *claim* that they have reversed the transactions in my balance and sent them back to the issuers, however I have not been able to confirm this with anyone yet. I'll update the thread if/when I hear back from all of these people.

Before closing the account they usually let you send all money to the bank account

not this time. I sent them a message a week ago asking for some clarification regarding a wire IBAN number, they took a week to reply and then just closed my account

they claim they've reversed all of the transactions comprising my balance, but I haven't been able to confirm that with any of the payers yet.

yeah, no explanation. I've only received payments from major reputable programs, no individuals or any shady business. this came as a total surprise.

7 different well known sponsors over the last 3 years. I doubt if they had a problem with any of the senders.

Only thing I can think of is that maybe they don't want to do transactions with USA businesses anymore. All of my info was verified and correct, and I had a business, not a personal, account.

Haven't heard back from any of the sponsors yet as to whether anyone has received these supposed payment reversals.

I don't want to drag the sponsors names into this publicly, if you really want to know pm me. they're all well known and most have been sending me payments for years without issue.

Being a US business owner I looked into using Paxum for affiliates payouts but decided Paxum wanted me to jump through too many hoops to be worth it. I got the feeling Paxum does not want to do biz with US customers.

Yeah there was some kind of an issue a few years ago where they closed my personal account simply due to it being US based, but they were still permitting USA business accounts, so I opened one and sent them all the proper info and everything seemed OK until I tried withdrawing funds.

my country's government was getting ridiculous with the regulations several years ago (i.e. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Choke_Point) but a lot of the business restrictions had eased up in recent years.

regardless this was not handled in a professional manner. not even sure if what they claim to have done is legal, perhaps Canada allows these sort of actions however "reversing" transactions which were settled 3 years prior seems reckless. I'm fortunate that all of the entities involved are still in business, whether I hear back from them or not remains to be seen.

Not sure if i am close to that point as well.

This was my issue for the past 2 weeks, it's super hard to withdraw money on my paxum account.

Good news is, the pending EFT's i made were validated and reached my bank at last, after a long wait and daily follow ups thru chat support.

Hope you get your money!

Geeze you guys are slow learners. They've been doing this shit to random customers for years, why would anybody doubt it?

This right here is the shady and unprofessional shit. We all know that USA banking and money-laundering laws are arbitrary, medieval, and annoying to deal with. But there's nothing in any of them prohibiting telling a customer why you had to dump their business. Refusing to be open and honest about the reason is what marks Paxum as not safe to deal with.

I get X,XXX$ monthly on paxum for quite a lot of time. I have a prepaid card issued from them, I can pay everywhere with it and I can withdraw from ATM`s.

I have literally never had any problems. It is my go to place as Paypal is shit nowadays

I replied to your email yesterday. I forwarded it to accounting who will check into it on Monday as it is weekend here. I doubt we got anything back though.

got your email, thank you.

yeah, I shouldn't have kept that much in there, especially after getting burnt with epassporte years ago.

They sure have some reason why they closed your account. They dont close accounts just like that.. Probably there was something suspicious.. Nothing happened without reason

That's the great thing - No third party - N8N is hosted on my server and just uses API's - Look at https://n8n.io/ - Looking back I could have set it up myself but I paid for someone to do a few functions - It's pretty straight forward, you just need to use PayPal Api's...

You can configure PayPal to auto empty to your back account once a day no need for an app.

Good luck.
They did something similar to me about a year ago, after also having an account since shortly after the days of epassporte - I had 200-300$ left in the account that they can go fuck themselves with and made no attempt of sending me or sending back to where the funds originated from, along with sending (after paying for) debit cards that didn't work for a single day. Useless piece of shit service.

Doubt it all you want clown, I had to track down Ruth just to get an explanation of how I could cash out the money - no notice to my email, no way of logging in or contacting their support, if you don't know about "Ruth" the money would've just been gone.

That's how I have my PayPal setup. I mostly use PP to send money but for those now rare times I get sent funds it immediately goes to my bank account. Too many horror stories of PP freezing accounts for six months for little to no reason.

As Roald said: try to never leave any balances online. Transfer to your bank ASAP.

Most people that get PayPal funds frozen are people that get a lot of funds with no PayPal history and PayPal freezes it to be safe from chargebacks.

If you do a few k a month of biz thru PayPal you will never get funds frozen after the first 1-2 months.

As Roald said: try to never leave any balances online. Transfer to your bank ASAP.

There are quite a few threads related to PAXUM. There was one posted a few months ago by "Elliso". There should be some suggestions posted there, unless Elliso wrote me directly.

If you sincerely believe you are in the right, and PAXUM has failed to resolve this matter by now, then you should put together a simple demand letter, and forward it to [email protected], and cc Ruth. Make sure to give them an X amount of days to transfer all the money owed to your account. In the letter, provide specific account numbers, amounts owed, your full name and address, name PAXUM and Octav A. Moise (basically the owner of PAXUM), a light summary of the money originally in the account from Sponsors (name them), an ability to transfer out that money to your bank, a due date by which they must act, and notice of what action you will consider taking against them, should they fail to resolve the matter by X date. Sign and date the letter, etc.

Should PAXUM and Octav decide to ignore your letter, than you might want to start submitting written complaints with the various authorities, including police in your home country, as well as in Canada, ideally in the Province/State that PAXUM is registered in. Again make sure PAXUM and Octav A Moise, are named/listed/mentioned as the Defendants. Make sure to keep good records. Get the correct spelling of the Officer's name that is taking your report, and the incident or report number assigned. Arrange to get a "certified" copy of the report when ready.

If you want me to look over your situation and written statements, write me directly: alex AT nalem DOT com

Good luck!

I am not a lawyer, but if it was me, likely I would allege "misappropriation of funds" by the Defendants.

I wonder how much money they have stolen over the years by closing accounts with balances too small to fight for?

An update:
2 of the 7 programs have replied to me and said they found the funds. No word from the other 5 yet.

Big thanks to AVRevenue and Payserve for helping me out with this mess

Hey, thanks a bunch for the advice, I may take you up on that offer. I'm going to give it a week or so and see if any of the other programs get back to me before exploring other options.

I went through this when they closed my account for the crime of being a US citizen. They did refund the money back to the sources of the funds, but that left me swinging in the breeze. What assurance did I have that any of those people would pay me twice, or were willing to pay by some other payment method?

In the event, most of the funds went back to a program with whom I had a decent relationship, and they offered to repatriate the funds to me by another method. But this should have been handled by Paxum, not dropped thoughtlessly on a random affiliate program.

What recourse would I have had, if the affiliate program was one that paid by Paxum only? None; they would have just gotten a bonus from Paxum at my expense.

What recourse would I have had, if the funds were from one of my many one-job-only, pay-in-advance freelance clients? Those guys pay, get what they want, move on. They have no incentive to pay me twice, just because my payment intermediary did something irresponsible. And some of them wouldn't bother, having no enduring business relationship with me.

It is completely unacceptable that Paxum does this. And I scoff at all the dumb-asses who come into these threads and say "they never did anything shady to me" like that means anything. This is called "survivor bias" -- it's like saying "The tornado wasn't all that terrible, my house didn't blow away." No matter how many shredded mobile homes go tumbling past, you're out there standing on the front porch with a Bud Light in your hand saying "Tornado? It's no big deal, my house is good." It's a real dumb-ass argument, but for some reason it's been real common here on GFY for all of the damn near twenty years that I've been here.

Exactly.

If they did this to me they'll do it to anyone. I've been on this board for what, 17 years now? I'm someone with a pretty solid and longstanding reputation.

This thread has been on the main page of the most highly visited industry forum for an entire week and they still haven't replied. That tells me they don't give a shit about their customers, at least those in the adult industry.
