If you live in a state like California that has phases for vaccine availability and wish to jump the line:

If food workers in your state are part of phase 1 or A (depending on which way your state categorizes things) you can download the Instacart app and become a shopper in minutes. The app will then give you a letter to allow you to get vaccinated ASAP. No actual shopping necessary.

Most states will have two sets of appointments. Those who fit an age profile, and those who work in an essential industry. Essentials get vaccines first. California, for instance, just opened things up to everyone 50+ and on the 15th of the month will open it up to everyone 16+.

As you can imagine this will create a massive queue of people into June and July. But you can still get your vaccine in a week by being a food worker.

Actually.... The reality is while they have "tiers" the reality is the people actually giving the shots don't care, and if you just show up you might be able to just get a shot. The reality is they have "x" amount of doses to give out per day and every day a certain amount of people don't show up so they always have extra.

A friend of mine works for Kaiser and when it was only 65+ she told me that if you show up at the end of the day they always have extra and they will give the shots to whomever. They either give the shot to someone or it's wasted.

They just opened it up to 50+ yesterday, and I am getting my shot in about an hour.

Having read accounts from people who've been vaccinated it is both sides of the coin. Many who said they got vaccinated and had proof of eligibility were never asked for it. Many who didn't, and were asked for it were turned away. Time of day probably factored heavenly into it.

This is for those who want an early morning appointment.

I wasn't asked. In fact one of the places I called to register (I called 5 of them), the woman says "I'll put you in phase 1B," which I do qualify for but she never asked for any personal details, she just did it.

Ultimately they just want to get people stuck. I don't know if the companies doing it get paid per jab or they legitimately care, but most stories around here that I've been hearing are similar to mine.

It went 16+ here March 30. They opened 3 clinics within walking distance for me... I'm 56 and still cannot get in.

It seems here (Minneapolis at least) our clinics follow their own guidelines. I mean I received a letter from the Minnesota Department of Health listing these clinics and the new rules.

Gotta love it! Health care facilities refusing to help the people in their community just because they are NOT PRIOR PATIENTS! UG!

Guess I am fucked, I do not go to doctors so I have no prior health record anywhere here. Wheeeeeee! It's good to be meeeeeee! LOL

But what about the moral side of the story? If you are just working from home and not in a service where you are in personal contact with others 8 hours a day then should you jump the line? Many will and many do, but you aren't really helping the greater cause. People who are more likely to die, or need serious medical attention or who are in constant contact with other people (because of their jobs) need to be the first one to get vaccinated..

I'm a life hacker. Everyone else's rules don't apply to me. Living that way is boring and I'd rather get stuck this way than end up dead because I was good at following the rules.

This is a different case.. for example evading taxes , jumping a line at mcdonalds etc is also morally bad, but people won't die out of it. This time real people will die because of your actions.
