In truth I am not sure what you mean by membership script.

You set your prices, and when people click to join, it goes to the ccbill page.

You can add cascading billing too (as in use other firms, not just ccbill).

maybe i used the wrong words. I want to start a paid membership site but i also want to be able to have an affiliate program. So i need a script for the membership site.

The advantage being that many webmasters use ccbill to promore sites, and all the accounts are linked, so you get a single check.

If you want something very simple, just use: modelcentro as they do everything. They host, deal with membership, do the site, all you do is upload your content. They also have an affiliate section.

you can use a wordpress installation for the membership content on a subdomain and password protect it , ccbill can bridge to the login , its cheap and free

This is my first time doing a member site so I'm trying to learn everything i can and you make some good points I hadn't thought about. Some one was showing me Mechbunny which is a one time fee. Do you know anything about their product?

And yes i am very much hoping to make more than $50 a month. I am just trying to keep costs down where i can if it makes sense.

Listen - I'm actually gonna be helpful for a fucking change, and not talk about poo... Here's what you do.

On your server install WordPress on the route of your domain. Also on your domain, create a folder called 'members' - Install another instance (separate) of WP in that folder.

Now, your root version of WP is where you are going to post your preview pics and updates etc... Your 'tour' if you like. Then, inside the members folder, in the OTHER install of WP, is where you are going to post your full content.

Hit up ccBill and tell them you want the members folder set up so it has to be accessed via a paid for user/pass - ccBill will do all this for you for free and give you a 'Join Page' to link to.

User visits your site, likes what he sees, goes to the ccBill join page and gets a user pass that lets him into the members folder, that contains all the good stuff.

ccBill handles all the codes etc for affiliates, and within a day you can open your affiliate program. You don't even need a seperate site - Just the link code from ccBill that you post on GFY for affiliates to sign up and promote your site.

And that's fucking it. Period.

No need to over complicate shit - Just 2 WP installs, and all the technical user / pass / Payments / Affiliate program etc, ARE ALL HANDLED, INSTALLED & SETUP FOR YOU by ccBill on your behalf.

Simples.


For bonus points, ease of updates (and more sales) make your 'tour' identical to the members area. Show the potential customer exactly how much is in the site and what to expect when they join with a 100% 'transparent' tour...

Only difference is when they click on view video / image in the tour, they get a short preview. But if they click on the same image after paying, within the members area, they get the full video.

This means as you update, you can copy paste the same code across & into both instances of WP in one go - All you need to change are the links...

where's your content conversions, streaming, security happening? these are also basics these days.

by security i mean protection against the constant barrage of hackers, crackers, and pirates that will start hitting you the second you post a video on a tube site.

WP is for blogging. this WP setup is about 10 years past its prime.

PornCMS actually has a plugin for WP so you can stream videos right into a WP install. no one uses it, even tho it was requested. the cms is a lot better - and an actual content management system.

thats not 100% accrate , this was the case maybe 7-10 years ago... its is without doubt important to care about site security and have some basic understanding about web server when you reach higher numbers with wordpress (blocking wp-login, xmlrpc.php ,wp-comments.php etc) ....but when done right ,wordpress is a great and fast cms nowadays even for larger audiences, there must be a reason why 50-60% of all cms installations are wordpress

I do not like the, so you do not plan to earn $50 a month, remark. As $50 is still $50 and not all sites will make $50, especially when they have a dedicated server to pay for.

However, perhaps you could say what this service does.

I agree, one thing that you need to do is add site protection as sadly (1) people do password share. And (2) people will try brute force attacks.

A few years ago a chap did a service (I think for $20 a month). But I am not sure if it is still going. I used it, and it prevented password sharing as it would not let you log in if you were in a different area and so on.

Also if your system offers video conversation, this would be useful. Does this convert 4k to other formats?

Just to be clear, you can avoid a LOT of problems and cost by just using modelcentro.

When running a membership site, you have things to deal with.

1. Password sharing (this is a huge problem).
2. Having a dedicated server. If you are going to use 4k vids, these are HUGE files. It means ten films that are 30 mins long will need a lot of disk space. I presume you will need a dedicated server. One that will not crash if you get more than ten people on your site.
3. Piracy. Do you let people download and save films or watch online only.
4. Affiliates.
5. Payment.
6. The website

@TrainWreck, good luck with your project! if you can't do the work yourself due to time/whatever CS has provided you a step by step on what you would require of someone if you need to hire out. assuming his method works, any custom tweaks you need straight out the gate just add those in to the set up

A few thoughts.

1. Get a good .com.

One that is brandable. This can make a big difference in sales. I have one site with a 4 letter domain that converts with ease. And I suspect it is because I use a 4 letter domain name. I should have used this for my main pay site.

2. It is not 2005.

In 2005 you could put up a pay site and get sales. Today this is not the case.

3. Running costs.

If you plan on doing everything yourself, then chances are you will be needing a dedicated server. This could be $300 a month. And with 4k films you may need to go bigger and bigger as 4k films are huge files.

This does not take into factors such as cost of content.

4. Content.

Are you using exclusive or non exclusive content?

If you use old content, people may tell, and be put off.

$50 is a couple members. posting a few videos a week on xhamster will get you more than that.

yea the source can be up to 4k, then it converts to 1080p, 720p, 480p, 240p. all 5 sizes available as streaming, and downloads if the site has downloads switched on. which i never recommend lol

It depends if he is using old content or not.

It is not like a few years ago where you can just post content. Today they want model release forms signing and the ones they have. By this they want the model to sign a xhamster model release form. So if it is content shot a few years ago, unless he has contact with the model, then he cannot post it on xhamster.

Also, you have the problem that you end up posting your content for free and people do not need to join your site.

Though I wonder if people bother with anything less than 1080, as even slow broadband 1080 is not massive, or particularly slow. Under 1080 I would presume the quality is not great and your just filling your server with files that people may not bother with.

However your example the quality does seem decent at a lower rez.

I agree.

I would not have an option to download.

On one hand members will not like it, but if you do they will download every file in an hour then cancel membership them post your content on a tube site.

By making them stream, they will stay members longer, and probably will keep joining. I have members who join for a few months, cancel, then join a year later for the new content or to see stuff they enjoyed. If they downloaded then they have less need to join again.

I also suspect it will mean less problems for your server, as this way you do not have lots of people trying to download many 4k vids in one go.

In an ideal world you would charge extra for 4k.

Some sites have an option where you can only stream, but also have an option to download but at an extra cost. However for the stress of trying to look each day to see if your content has been pirated, I would question if that extra income is worth it.
