Hey guys! New project in the works, and I need some info, please.

What is, currently, the best way to get lots of traffic for a site?
1. Affiliates? (isn't the affiliate model basically dead nowadays?)
2. Banner placement in paid spots in other websites?
3. Tons of tube video sumissions?
4. Other? (please specify)

That's a pretty broad statement with little information to go on. Can you give me a site then perhaps make some suggestions? NOTE the best traffic is the one you create on your own rather than pay for it but think you're beyond that point.

Media buying for cam niche is super hard because big players have unlimited cash so it's hard to compete with them. So legacy advice to do seo would be best route.

I disagree 100% and believe it is the opposite.

Without being able to forecast or reliably scale your traffic, you have a hobby reliant on luck rather than a business. Especially with the state of SEO and organic traffic generation in 2023.

That is debatable but it is also depending whatever make you conformable - i more preffer media buying because i don't have will to fuck around with google constant changes. But media buying as traffic source can be lost too - competition could have bigger ROI and you cant follow it, and suddenly from doing hundreds/thousand a day you are on zero unless you manage to find alternative source.

First I would do ALL the things you listed. Because you are trying to launch a successful cam project be aware that the space is oversaturated and dominated by big players like Chaturbate, Flirt4Free, Live Jasmin, etc. Plus the major tubes (who have most of the adult traffic) also have their own custom cam labels.

So it would really depend on your initial investment, your overall goals, what you consider 'successful' and the cost of running the whole show to determine if it is 'worth it' or not. Best of luck!!

Well it really depends on the product and type of business you are pushing. For cams it IS possible to scale via media buys but the cost would be expensive considering you are going up against companies with bigger budgets and longer track records. Still, with enough money, much can be done.

Also: one person's 'hobby' is another person's full-time business.

i think the main problem in 2023 is very few adult startups have a realistic budget. look at all the people coming in here trying to start a business with $100.

dude needs a traffic partner or a massive budget. you can easily get a million *real* users in the door on opening day if you want to pay for it.

Well if you are including time (and luck) in the cost equation then I would say this:

Buying traffic to re-direct to a paysite landing page is useless and a big time waste of money so I would not recommend. But buying banner spots on big traffic sites (mostly tubes) CAN have a positive effect but you have to keep a close eye on the ROI.

So to directly answer your question - how long would it take starting from zero - I would say anywhere from 6-12 months to see a steady return. BUT this depends on the content (of course), the niche, the promo materials and how hard you work uploading to all the free traffic sources, including social media. The real issue with paysites is once you hit a certain level of Joins you plateau and it's difficult to scale from there.

(BTW rents in New York City now are insane; a 1 BR apartment average cost is $4600)

What type of site are you after promoting?

I know a pay site that is about two years old and makes a vast amount because it makes content people want and no other site makes.

They seem to have a budget per shoot that matches Hollywood and use the same gear.

If you have content people want then you are not going to worry too much about traffic as people will promote your site for free.

The mistake some make is produce trash but then believe it should sell, if only they got more hits.

Those who produce stuff that sells are unlikely to ever come onto gfy and ask how to get more sales.

The one thing people never do is admit what they make sucks, especially if they have been doing it for years.

1. Set up a twitter account.

2. Add yourself to other twitter accounts with the same content as you.

3. Post a clip of your content. 20 seconds or longer.

4. See the reaction.

If the result is the clip is reposted many times, then you know people like your content and it should get you followers and in turn sales.

If the result is no more than a few or zero reposts, then work out why.

The truth is most people who get low results carry on in the belief that if only somone promotes them, then they will get sales.

In truth it could take many changes before you find what works.

But most just go out and put out junk but are convinced they will make a fortune because they get a few sales.

Your problem is not traffic.

For such a site it is how many models you have.

Most new webcam sites fail as they have too few models on live at that moment.

And if models work for tips, many will give up early on your site and move to a well established site that have thousands online.

The way around this is to be different.

It is a chicken or egg situation.

You could spend a fortune promoting the site, but if the site has only a few models online when people visit, then people will leave and may not return.

if it´s your own models, then you´re best bet for traffic is to offer white labels to other camsites, put your studio feed out to not just your own site, but many...

Maybe I should clarify - buying traffic is fine - hell I've done it for clients. Yet to rely your entire traffic upon purchased I feel isn't totally the best option. You should first make sure your site is creating and growing in organic traffic. People complain about watching the changes in google etc. but if you're buying traffic you should be watching daily the traffic and make tweaks - which is where some make a mistake. Perhaps a careful balance between the two is the best solution - but I always recommend organic traffic is important
