Fresh Mango contains 70% water by weight whereas dry mango contains 10% water by weight. What is the weight of dry mango that can be obtained from 20 kg of Fresh Mango?

140kg? (if your asking to find the same amount of water)
if not
20kg, because 1 dry mango weighs as much as 1 fresh mango

Ive re-worded it so that some of you retards might be able to work it out a little easier...

Fresh Pussy contains 70% water by weight whereas dry pussy contains 10% water by weight. What is the weight of dry pussy that can be obtained from 20 kg of Fresh Pussy?

Regards,

Lee

Ok lets break this problem down, shall we?

We know that a fresh mango contains 70% water by weight. Therefore 20 kg of fresh mangos contain 14 kg of water and 6 kg
of mango "solids".

We also know that dried mangoes contain 10% water by weight. If we have 6kg of mango "solids" that means that in a dried mango there are .6kg of water.

Thus the total weight of the dried mangos is 6.6kg.

You say that it is 6kg of mango solids - so NO water

70% of 20kg's is 14kg, so when you dry it and it is 10% water you still use 20kgs as the ammount - so 10% of 20kg is 2kg plus your 6kgs of "solids" and you have 8kg of dry mango

No. The original statement said dried mango's contain 10% water by weight. Not that dried mangos contain 10% of the their original weight.

I think perhaps this thread offers an insite into the "shaving" issue. Perhaps there really is no such thing as shaving, but rather 95% of the people in this industry suck at math.

Actually cant be 6.6

10% water = .66kg

6.6 - .66 = 5.94

We know that the "solids" must be 6kgs, so it cant be 6.6

I think I need to lay down now........ who asked this anyway!!

Definitely 6.66

If 20 kg of mango is 70% water, then you have 6 kg that is "not water."

But when you dry the mango you can't get down to just 6 kg; we know there will be some water left and the resulting substance will be 10% water by weight.

The rest is algebra:

X = 6 + .10X

.9X = 6

X = 6/.9

X = 6.66

Unless the mango is fresh from the tree, it's not worth eating anyway, so why bother to dry it?
