Huggles

Put down the bottle, dammit.

I have known many alcoholics, hell, my mother died at the age of 45 because of drinking. Liver cirrhosis and brain damage did her in.

The one common denominator I observed is that none of them, not a one, would admit they had a problem until they hit absolute rock bottom.

From your post, it sounds like you are pretty near to that rock bottom.

So, put down the bottle and start lifting yourself the fuck up.

I know it's hard. Most things in life that are worth doing are hard. But just surrendering yourself? Not the way to go man.

You have a kid that you want to see, I guaranfuckingtee that she wants to see you. You have art that you want to make. You have life that you want to live.

It's easy to quit on life. It's easy to just go away and hide in that bottle. Like suicide, that is the coward's way out.

Stand up. Dust yourself off. Start working a plan with the first step being to seek out your local AA group. Go to a meeting. If that doesn't take, go to another one. Keep going until it makes sense. It eventually will.

You are complaining about being broke, about having no opportunities. But, I know for a fact that since the beginning of November you have had at least $1200.00 come your way. OneHungLo sent you $1000.00 form winning his bet (he says he did and I tend to believe him). I personally sent you $200 on October 31 (yes, I know I swore you to secrecy but that doesn't mean I can't mention it). Then Dugmor sent you $88.

I realize that that isn't a whole lot of money in this world BUT it is 1200 you didn't have before. Did you buy a domain and a cam script? Did you get a domain and hosting? Did you do anything with some of that money to attempt to make some more cash or did you just drink the whole thing away?

BE HONEST!!!!!

Bullshitting it just hurts you, nobody else.

If I thought you would stop drinking, I would offer up a couple of domains that you could use and I would give you some hosting. Hell, I would even make a quick and simple cam script for you, but that would all be contingent on you giving up the bottle. Since I haven't thought that you were ready to do that, I haven't offered.

Many people have offered you assistance of some sort. You have turned it down or not responded. That's on you. Nobody can help you unless you are willing to help yourself.

Get rid of your pride! Stand up for yourself! Take baby steps until you can fully walk.

GFY likes you and cares about you, as the response to your threads show, but as I said, nobody can help you until you are willing to help yourself.

Admit you have a problem. Go to AA. Get help. It will be a tough walk but if you do it, I guarantee that next year this time you will be in a much better place both mentally and physically.

We love you dude! Don't you fucking dare go away from here on us and don't you fucking dare die on us.

Sober life is absolutely amazing once you get sober, getting there is the hard part though. I am enjoying my sober life very much so and I am still young, in my early 30s

all of what S wrote. even tho in your cups hate me for no reason out of the blue (with multiple PMs to prove it), I'm rooting for you too. those messages were from a drunken angry fool but suspect clean you'd be quite different

with the amount you drink going sober flat out can be dangerous

wrote a whole thing about that to you in the past here but wouldn't know where to begin to look for it and doubt you can remember it

alcohol doesn't just fuck with your body, your brain too as S stated above. don't buy that whole Descartes mind/body split thing. won a debate on that in grade school, long before I learned about addiction

this ish is clouding your thinking and ability to function

so to get off it, brief recap

get a valium scrip (swear that ish works wonders on everything) to reduce what your body does when a substance it has become accustomed to is denied it

homeostasis, look it up if you so choose

taper down, with zero hard stuff, no shots, just beer. ask a neighbour to help you, we're talking like $100 max overall but don't beg here. you're not accountable to anyone here. get the money from a neighbour you have to look in the eye

then when clean and on your way up well pay them back and go hug your kid. she'll be more proud of you than anyone

taper down changes your behaviour as well. yeah the first few days not much fun raging against the machine online on one beer. you'll probs puke a lot. that's your stomach getting rid of excess bile cuz you taxing your liver so. keep a wastepaper bin bedside just in case. ask a trusted friend to check on you

kinda been around, know this stuff

all the above with the end goal of kicking it completely. you can do this is week and then hitch rides to AA

you can do this, so many have

@S love you so for this thread

has to start with you Huggles. just fucking do it

I never understood the obsession with alcohol.

Not only does it not bring anything positive, but it also tastes like shit.

I am not of the addiction types, I haven't been able to get addicted to anything, but from my experiences and convos with people close to me who have addictions, it's the escape, not so much the taste or enjoyment of it. Being drunk allows them to drown out thoughts or forget things for a while. A relief.

Yeah, I know, BUT it doesn't solve the problems they are trying to escape, it only makes them worse. So it makes even less sense to me...problems need to be dealt with, suffered through and move on, not escaped from.

He seems to blame it all on the fact that he lost a job for not getting a Covid shot.
Is it really that bad now? There are so many other jobs out there that are okay with that

I can't see wanting to lose everything over a shot - that's stubborn based on no actual medical background only what he sees on the internet.

He blames Covid, he blames, Canada and Trudeau etc. From what I gather, he was doing ok in his business until the lockdowns and then just decided not to go back to work after that which doesn't make sense to me because during the lockdowns, I and alot of other people got alot of shit done.

If he's an alcoholic then I kind of understand his position. There's a certain person who used to be on GFY, who was a fucking raging, raging, alcoholic, who lost absolutely everything any one can lose. When you are that much of an alcky, almost nothing can change your mind about anytying.

Huggles I pointed out and gave links to you in a thread a while ago about all the government assistance for money that you can get. I don't know why you haven't taken advantage of that.

Use My Self Serve to assess your eligibility and apply for assistance from the B.C. government. If you can't complete the application online, call 1-866-866-0800

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/f...for-assistance

Rental assistance

https://www.bchousing.org/housing-as...e-programs/RAP

and a variety of places here

https://askanadvocate.ca/assistance-...me-assistance/

https://vancouver.pathwaysbc.ca/service_categories/12

I understand you don't want advice but rather money from people - these links will help get you money and food plus clothing.

You can also find tech jobs in BC too

https://www.bctechjobs.ca/
https://ca.indeed.com/q-it-l-british-columbia-jobs.html
https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Jobs/Te...ayout=2pane_v2

There are many resources for you that I know can help. IF you're depressed someone can do it for you

9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline
https://www.crisiscentre.bc.ca/get-support/

Mental health and substance abuse
https://www.bcmhsus.ca/about-us/getting-help

coming on here hoping someone is going to send money is easy but that's not how life works. You have to find it in you to pull your shit together an start making calls for yourself and your future.

lol re 'Indians' in the other thread you started

in your unsolicited rants to me kept going on about that, had assumed you were talking about my people (Red not Brown) as none of the messages were exactly uh...coherent but obvs direct, personal attacks in every other way. sober I doubt you would have written the awful things you wrote. when you get well, no apologies needed. we can start fresh, same as you can with everyone else online and off

facing the beast and conquering it will grant you respect, that you've actually earned

alcohol is changing you. to reset and reclaim your life fight against your addiction, be stubborn. don't let it win against the core inside you that knows the path you treading all wrong

The majority of employers haven't asked about vaccination status, let alone required it, for close to two years. Nowadays, I've only seen (some) health care roles still requiring it.

I know but if you know Huggles history his claim is that he lost his well paying job due to the fact that they demanded he be vaccinated. That is why I said it.

You're thinking about it from a logical standpoint. People in this state of mind are not thinking logically. They're acting in the best way to achieve the relief they can quickly, not resolve the root issue.

I was responding to your "Is it really that bad now?" question. While it is possible that he lost his job 2+ years ago for not being vaccinated, that's not what kept him from finding a new job in the last year or two.

Agreed - you're preaching to the choir.
Honestly I don't know why he hasn't tried for another job in the same field unless we're getting misinformed.

In the end - he does have qualifications that using the links I provided he could find something - just at this moment in his life perhaps he doesn't have the will power to do it but would prefer someone else solve his problems.
