oh, excuse me. i was meaning to ask how many ai related unicorn companies were there by the end of 2024, not how many got the status in 2024. the number is impressive and way greater than 120

well, not many people seem to be interested in this. I'll tell anyway: it's 245.
245 ai related companies valued at $1b+ isn't it crazy? tech companies hiring people left and right just because they mention they know how to use ai at an interview. silicon valley has gone mad. there are companies that have just appeared, no one knows what they're working on other than it's ai related and they receive $1b+ initial funding. I would post links but nobody seems to care so fuck you ![]() |

I have a friend here in the UK who just got hired for a remote 'AI' position by some AI start-up company in California.
He's pretty new to the concept of 'AI' and the only reason he got hired was because he has 30 years teaching experience. He quit his teaching job 2 months ago. They're paying him close to $100k a year (almost 3x what he made as a teacher) to 'train' their AI model to do basic mathematical calculations so they can market the platform to schools and universities ![]() The amount of money these AI startups have to throw around is crazy.
