Zooted ripped off for more than $30,000 by fraudulent webmasters

http://www.theadultpress.com/news.php?show=27

They confirmed it and THAT is why they are late with their payments.

I'm looking on the bright side of this one. At least I'm still going to get PAID unlike a lot of other programs who get hit with fees and unexpected financial troubles.

Do sponsors press charges against webmaster fraud? If not, it's time to start.

Agreed, these (usually) foreign webmasters just rack up fake credit cards in hopes of getting paid. Usually by the time it gets found out, the check is already cleared and the money is gone. So zooted had to pay for it.

My sympathies to them for still surviving a hit like that considering they aren't that huge. I know they aren't small either, but still.

Going after people in other countries has to be a complete bitch, and probably not even worth the effort. I'm surprised more sponsors haven't instituted policies where they only accept invited or "approved" foreign webmasters.

I know of a couple of programs that at first only allowed North American webmaster to signup. I'd do the same thing especially since new programs are easy targets for fraud.

damn, zooted rules, sad to hear such news.

$30k is a significant of signups,if it's confirmed scam they should pass their contact info to everyone.

I use their program myself and emailed them not too long ago asking about payouts. I've known about this little tidbit for a little while and thought it's in people's best interest to know that they aren't trying to rip anyone off, but were infact that ones being ripped off.

I was going to ask Serge to get in contact with Jonas since he's known him on the Good Bad Ugly for years and he's rated Good as Gold (that's how I became aware of them in the first place 2+ years ago).

yep Soul,

Good program over there and bad things do happen to good people sometimes.

We have people who check all the time for orders that come from affiliates. 99% of the time they are all fine, but that 1%, that 1 webmaster who signs up and starts sending big orders / sales with only 10 clicks, 100 clicks, etc sucks...

ah well, just watch those sales closely..

my overall ratio this year with zooted is 1:95 unique 1st page with highly targetted traffic. (acording to statsremote)

It ***** every major per signup sponsor having gay paysites by far. When they'll catch up on payments and the word about such ratios goes out they'll be everywhere.

I would imagine there is more to the story. If $30k can put a program 12 weeks behind, you have to wonder about their cash flow in the first place.

Yeah but like I said, I know they aren't huge, and I don't think they're that small, but $30,000 is a shitload of money.

Jonas has the guts where most sponsors would fold and come back as some "NEW" sponsor. They may be abit behind but they will come out of it. :D

once again, thanks to everyone coming here and supporting us. right now we are in the process of sending out periods 148 and 149 will be working on periods 150 - 151 next week. once again, we are doing our best to get all caught up.

I have stated before, we had money held by an international processor and unexpected mastercard fine. And yes, we were ripped off bigtime by a bunch of fuckin Canadian Assholes running an amazing card scam. the number is probably much higher then the $30k i mentioned before, between, credits, chargebacks, and checks cashed by webmasters.

Once again, we are sending out checks as money comes in. OUr number 1 objective is to pay webmasters. there have been plenty of reputable companies that fell behind for one reason or another and caught up and are doing just fine. All we ask is for continued support. We are not going anywhere and continue to do business as usual. our chargebacks are way below the 1% level that everyone is afraid of, we have gotten rid of all webmaster fraud and we are doing what we can to go forward.

I am sorry for the delay in getting to this board. I had no idea someone posted here. i was told via email. so that is why i am posting now. I am stepping out for a meeting with someone, but when i get back i will check the board to see what transpired.

thanks again for all the support.

Jonas, you are one of the few sponsors that we trust implicitely. Your emails a long time back offering help with something that didn't even deal with your own company said an awful lot. Sorry to see that you were taken advantage of and hopefully the scum pays in more ways than one for doing it!

Money late is better than no money at all!! ;-)

My affiliate program got stung by an asshole from Bulgaria. Fortunately, I only lost $50.00 to HIM before catching it. However, the chargebacks are still ROLLING in. I have seriously considered allowing only US and Canadian webmasters to participate in my affiliate program.

There was a time we used to send all of our gay traffic to Zooted and did really well with it. Jonas is a good person and it's sad to see when a good webmaster gets ripped off.

I think it may be time to have some sort of system that would track webmaster fraud levels by many factors including bank account numbers. Actually this is a fucking brilliant idea and I will run it past Ron C. Damn I'm a friggin GENIUS!

Good luck with the speedy recovery my friends at Zooted.
