general SE / domain name question

say if you order a domain name, "wheelchairs.com"... and in google you type in "wheelchairs".. and say you get 50k results or something... will those sites with the word "wheelchairs" help out the rank of the site at all? i'm a SE newb so i had to ask.

i have a domain name to my amazement hasn't been registered, and the word itself is listed only about 800 times in google. was just wondering though. thanks.

Googly gives very little weight for the domain names now.

It's normal, that you're still not listed - you need to submit your site and have it well optimized with good incoming links

not true.

I do alot of SE work lately, and i never submitted a page in my life directly to google.

I optimize, then link to it from 100 or so other domains i have, and it gets listed. period.

how much weight the domain has, i dunno .... but i use them anyhow.

Those 50K results are pages competing for the top listings, and results that you would have to rise above. Also known as competiton, definitely no benefit to your Page Rank.

Second you discovered a keyword combination that Google can only show 800 results for, means that it is so obscure, that surfers would never search for it, and webmasters are not optimizing for it.

not always true.

ALOT of pages get spidered for keywords that they have no interest in.

If you put an ounce of time into your site to target a keyword, i think you will have an advantage over any site that accidentally got spidered for that keyword.

Domain name sure helps, not saying you can't compete without it but it makes things easier.

If I was trying to score #1 for Live Sex, I sure would love to have livesex.com vs girlsfuntits.com

That is quite correct. Google has 10,000 computers throwing words everywhere in a split second.

Anybody got this new Google algorithm fogured out?

The PR toolbar no longer functions correctly and backlinks
are not being updated.

Still a waiting game,,,,,,

I agree, that it's better not to submit it to google, though the position will be the same. If you use generated doorways, then you might want to wait until the spider finds your site itself - you won't get banned for a longer period.
