1) Blues Brothers
2) Bullitt (Am I the first one to spell it right?)
3) Ronin
4) Matrix Reloaded (but you gotta see it in IMAX!)

Gone in 60 Sec, especially the remake, doesn't even make the list. Why? Because it wasn't real. Film and computer tricks make it look like cars going 30mph are going 70.. that's not a chase.

If you get the Bullitt DVD there are some additional materials that show the Corvette chase/film vehicle that was made to keep up with the 440 Mopars and heavily modified Mustangs used in the main chase. They show them actually filming at 60+mph, and all the mistakes that they left in the movie (cars driving through that weren't supposed to be there, the missed turn, the overshot turn that wrecked some guy's parked Ford & camera stand, etc).

The chase scenes from The French Connection and Bullit have always made the top of the list when it comes to the best on film.

My personal favorite is Steve MQueen trying to jump the barbed-wire fence on his motorcycle in The Great Escape. I've seen it over 20 times and I still think it's possible he'll make the leap.

Bullet and French Connection pretty much a tie in my book. Followed by Butch and the Sundance Kid, when that posse is after them for days. You just can't show that kind of endurance which a car.

the original gone in 60 seconds chase scene. much better, like 40 minutes of chasing, crashing and smashing.

and not a second of it was computer animated. it was all done by the director himself...

You know m8, infact when they were making the movie the director wanted authentic sound effects for the cars so they actually spent a lot of time recording the sounds from the actual cars used in the films. That film fucking rules!

Ronin : real and amazing!

The chase was the creation of stunt master "Remi Julienne" .... This team did most of stunts in all french productions.

Bullit, Blues Brothers in a funny sort of way, and T3. That fucking crane chase was kick ass.

Matrix sucks. Too many effects, not enough plot.
