No. That Ian knows how to act in public and I highly doubt he would ever say anything bad about me.

Not that it will make you feel better, Kayla, but you should see a psychiatrist conference or auto body shop folks when they're getting tanked.

I really don't think this is limited to our industry. As a matter of fact, I've been the recipient of those meetings myself. I feel like a child when I hear some of the stuff the so called professionals do when they're out of town. Letting one's hair down does not include the childish Mischief Night pranks I've seen.

The destruction of property is never okay.

As to being too drunk to remember, Aaron, my friend, you are so right on.

For two years straight, I've wanted to talk to a rep from a major sponsor, face to face. But, I never saw him on the showroom floor and when I did see him, he was so drunk, it looked as if his spine had been removed. He could not walk upright. The next day, we were re introduced. He had no idea who I was. Two years in a row. Am I going to promote this sponsor? Hell no.

I am always looking for show people to represent my clients. The reports of people's behaviours usually comes to me, whether I'm at the show or not.

Ian. In case you're reading this. When Aaron told me you wanted to bring your kids to dinner at El Gaucho's, I thought about it for two seconds. My vote was no. This was a gathering for adults in an adult restaurant. It was wholly inappropriate to bring children there.

I think everybody believes that kids don't belong in an adult resturants or at adult functions, why is this even a topic of debate?

heh. Good point. Aaron, you introduced yourself to me as 3 different names friday night.
And although I did have some drinks at dinner, it was nice meeting you each time.

I go to shows to talk face to face and build trust with people I want to do business with. Sometimes that involves having some silly fun. But it never involves being rude or destructive.

On the flipside I think its also important to take into consideration that alot of rumors float around, alot of people make assumptions, shift blame or already have a prejudiced demeanor towards people.

This can result in all kinds of drama...I think as an industry as a whole we are not much more or less destructive than many others.

I just think that we fail to police eachother.

Ask yourself this...If you see someone engaging or about to engage in activities you feel are not befitting of this industry, are you more likely to tell that person you don't approve, point and laugh, turn a blind eye??

Sometimes people are in the worng place at the wrong time, sometimes people's past actions stigmatize them...and sometimes its just plain rumor.

I'm not trying to defend anyone. As an employee of Adult.com I'm personally not impressed that some of these events occured. However, I think many people have already made up their minds who did what without ever having been witness to any of the events in question. And that's not cool either.

I cannot even believe you're apologizing...it was a pleasure dancing near you. I was tempted to lick your lipstick off of aly...but I figured I'd get hit with a barstool.

All in all I think the night at gotham hall was the best...although I'm still uncertain of Eric's sexual orientation, but he can dry hump my leg anytime.

In short you're welcome in whatever circle I can muster ANYTIME. As long as you promise to revoke your "Won't happen again" statement.

It's fair to say that I'm not a kid lover, Aaron...other than my own.

And, I would never ever take a child to a five star restaurant until they're old enough to sit still for three hours.

I figure mine will be ready when he's 25. LOL

Interesting but I was always under the impression that at least 90% of the people in this biz were just assclown fuckups so it doesn't seem like much of a surprise to me.

I skip shows and read about all the stuff that goes on every time theres another show and it's the same thing. Like I said this biz is full of fuckups and it's no real surprise that when you bring fuckups together that they fuck shit up. Keep it simple, beat their ass, throw them out or have them arrested and move on.

Ian....You are officially uninvited to ANY gathering I am EVER arranging. Your comments were out of line, disrespectful, and have hurt my reputation. This is a small business Ian?You have been around long enough to know that you should not say anything behind somebody?s back that you don?t have the balls to say to their face as it will get back to them.

Talk all the shit you want about me being a kid hater. 1 and 2 year olds do not belong in high end restaurants. If I overlooked the children?s playland area at El Gaucho then I apologize.

Nothing but love for you Roger. Perhaps if you had been there then you could have shown Ian a thing or two about having some class.

Aaron, you take yourself entirely to seriously. If I remember correctly I called you a kid hater to your face. I would never dream of saying anything behind your back that I wouldn't say to your face. I was joking and I think you know it. I think I have the balls to say whatever I feel like to you.

You want to be the center of attention and this is a lame way to do it. If you have a problem with me - call me don't post it on a board. Step up and address the problem if you really think there is one.

Of course there isn't a playland area at El Gaucho. It isn't a McDonalds. On the other hand they have a kids menu and bend over backwards to accomadate kids. We go there all the time. They know me really well. I didn't think of it as a big deal.

Honestly I take my kids to great restaurans all the time. I like eating out and I love spending time with my family. I never thought of El Gaucho as somehow to high class for my kids. I would never think twice about taking them there. I think the management there agrees with me.

If you don't want to hang with me I can deal with that - but do me a favor and don't tell me where I can and can't take my kids.

A few industry friends and I have a inside joke about one marketing person in our industry. He's changed jobs so often that no one can keep track, and every time we see him at shows he's too fucked up to remember who he's working for. I find this horrible, but rather funny at the same time.

The problem with this industry is that not everyone is a professional. I've seen twenty-one year olds making $200k a year; They don't give a shit about what people think about them at a party at 3AM. Then there are other people who are just begging to get their foot in the door...... At the very same time you have people who have so much money they don't give a rats ass about anything.

As this industry grows up, the people that are here to stay will remain. The people who are constantly fucked up and doing God knows what will be out of jobs.

I could be wrong on this but i dont think it was so much the dining there that is the problem as much as it is the people who were there. I know i cant speak for others and i wasnt there but i'm pretty sure it wouldnt have been a good place for kids to have been around at at that time (at the same table as all these porn ppl talking about porn and everything else)

Was it an industry dinner comprised mostly of industry people? Obviously it doesn't bother you any, but talking shop around a couple of kids doesn't exactly thrill me. In fact, I would feel very uncomfortable and question the judgment of the "responsible" parent.

When security says, "Smoke them fast and get inside." That is NOT the time to light up a fresh cig. It is time to go into your room. Stop whining about it, there was nothing more I could do.

I almost went to JAIL to keep everyone from getting kicked out of the DoubleTree. By the time security came and got me out of bed, they had printed out a list of everyone who had registered under our promo-code and had high-lighted the names/room numbers of those that they considered 'problems'. By the time people came rolling in on Saturday night/morning, security WAS looking for a reason to kick us al out of their hotel. Friday night, there had been extensive damages to their property.

Having to cut deals and buy off non-convention hotel guests is rediculous! I hope I am not in that position again!

Hearing about the problems that occured Friday night (from bottles being thrown on to the marble floor of the atrium to drunken conventioners sleeping in the elevators) during my wrap-up meeting Saturday was humiliating! I had been braced to hear how we were loud, drunk and sloppy, but out and out DESTRUCTIVE?! Since WHEN does pulling the plants out of the planters and flinging them down several floors in to the atrium seem like a good idea? Or having contests throwing glass bottles down 6-8 floors to listen to them crash on the the marble? What if someone had been walking down there and had gotten pegged by a bottle? Since WHEN is it acceptable to SLEEP in the elevator when you HAVE a ROOM?!

Grow up people, if the GFY Drunk Cam Girl can pull HER shit together for the weekend, why the FUCK can't everyone else?!

That is my rant...

I thought of it more of an informal dinner with friends. I wasn't thinking of it as a "porn"party. Most of us have other things to talk about besides porn. Other people I work with were going and my kids are around them all the time. We have fun together. My bad.

I have only a few personal pet-peeves for business-related functions I've attended in the past:

- No kids.
There are too many reasons why no kids. This is business... children are usually a distraction that is unnessessary. Toddlers & infants particularly do not belong at business functions. Get a freaking babysitter, and take the kids out on a non-business night. Honestly, the last thing I would do, if I had kids, would be to have them anywhere NEAR anyone from the adult industry during any sort of show or convention. One visit to the FUBAR website should be enough reason.

- Cellphones:
Especially when there is a speaker or presentation of any kind, turn your damned cell phone OFF. Few things are more annoying than some idiot's cell ringing during a seminar.

Carry on.

This is why i dont go to the shows, webaccess in Feb will be our first. Why there is a need to get trashed what are people 18? Also having any illegal drugs at a hotel is fucking crazy. In Atlanta if they find drugs they will arrest us all.

It was a dinner for Why, who was supposed to be coming in from Texas. We also had people drive down from Canada and people drive up from Portland.

All of us are in the adult industry. Most of the evening was spent discussing various aspects of porn.

While my son knew about what I did from the time he was 14, I was never comfortable talking industry talk in front of him, nor was he keen on hearing his mother utter words like 'blow job', 'cock', and other descriptive phrases.

Ian was more than welcome to come. I voted 'no' on bringing children to an adult dinner. My kid is grown. I'm ready to have dinner without children.

Nothing personal.

That is a whole other affair. If you plan on sitting with a more close-knit group, and you are sure that everyone in that group is fine and compfy with having your kids present, then far be it for anyone to crap on that. Those that were uncomfortable could sit at some other table, yes?

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable discussing things like "hahahaha" and "blowjob" at El Gaucho. It is a nice place after all.

Raven - you were at our company holiday party last year. My kids as well as a lot of others were there. Did they make you feel uncomfortable?

One thing that is rarely mentioned on the boards is people abusing certain substances. I can understand a little but not to the point that it has you so fucked up that you can not do business or even enjoy other parts of the show. Stay and home if you wanna be a vegetable.

I am not talking about the person who occasionally gets fucked up, I am talking about the idiots who show up drunk/high/or whatever and you never even see them sober.

It's pretty annoying when you have a conversation with somebody and the next day, they don't even recall seeing you. So you have the same conversation again...and guess what? Same story the following day. I don't have time for this shit. I go to these shows to have fun and conduct business, not to waste my time with people who are too stupid to know when they have reached a reasonable limit.

Yes, I got pretty fucked up on Thursday night. The difference is that I still remember what went on, I did not damage anything, and I chose to stay sober once the show started.

The actions and negligence of one specific person at this show has prompted me to cut off all ties with this person from today forward. This is a person that I considered a friend until about 3 days ago. You know who you are so don't be surprised when I do not return your emails, phone calls, or instant messages.

Personally, I am down for starting an industry black list to keep these people away from the shows. Just do not allow them to register, it's that simple. The people who can not act responsibly can make a choice. Grow the fuck up or stay home. Your antics and bullshit are not wanted. Our industry has a bad enough reputation as is.

I would like to thank those of you who attend these events and know how to behave. The majority of the people have a clue but it's amazing how just a few people can fuck things up.

Aaron, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I had a sales person complain to me about people being so fucked up on drugs and booze that they did not remember "deals" discussed the prior night. Then it happened to me.

This is why many professional players no longer go to shows. Or just go to the big Vegas show. I also feel the format of some of the shows are to blame. The LA show reaked of party, little biz from the start. Lens is known flor throwing parties for the kids of the biz. It was promoted that way IMHO. That is why did not send a person.

Unfortunately, I have learned that there are too many idiots in this biz, and things will not change. You are better off staying at home from most of these "conventions" and traveling to see clients on a more personal basis.

You're right. It WAS an informal dinner.

Even still, most of what we talked about was related to our business.

Nothing personal against you or your children.

My opinion stands. I think there's a time and a place for children; and, in my opinion, that night was not appropriate for children.

I would have been uncomfortable, had your kids been there.

You're right...But you did it with a laugh as if it was a joke. It clearly was not. You fell short in the balls department when you tried to play it off to my face but took a different stance with others.

As for me taking myself entirely too seriously and this being a joke....I find it strange that multiple people thought enough about it to bring it to my attention. If it was a joke and no big deal then why in the hell did you feel the need to discuss it with several people?

I personally do take it seriously. And as you can see, I have no problem whatsoever bringing your attention to it.

You posted on Oprano and then talked shit about me at an industry event. Call you? WTF is that? You took it to the boards originally.

I also had a problem with the ass that you made of yourself in Phoenix. Would you like me to call you about that too? Just because the average person in this business is afraid to post or say anything bad about the almighty Ian does not mean that I am. I like your company, and I even like you...I just don't like you damaging my rep because I had the common sense to not allow children to an adult gathering.

For the record...I get all the attention I want and them some as is. You are pissed that I am bringing this attention to you NOT because it is of the attention it is bring to me. Deal with it. Maybe next time you will think twice before you act like a child.

"Adult webmaster private dinner." Read that carefully. Lets also note that there was a specific RSVP timeframe and when your initial RSVP was done, no kids were included. The reservations were booked and after all that I went through to get them done, I was not about to change them for anybody. Not God, not you, and certainly not for kids. Hello? ADULT WEBMASTERS. Run a search about children at adult events then come back here and spew that bullshit some more.

If you don't want to hang with me I can deal with that - but do me a favor and don't tell me where I can and can't take my kids.

Raven-

This is becoming something it shouldn't be. I wasn't upset about being told not to go. I was joking about calling Aaron a "kid hater." Maybe it was a stupid joke. I never thought his feellings would be hurt and this would upset him so much.

NO BIG DEAL!

Funny thing is I am meeting a biz associate there for dinner tonight. I will ask them if it is an appropriate place for kids or not.

Well my 2 cents on the subject is this....

There are many companies in this industry that purposefully hire people that are wild and crazy. The reason for this is because they go to shows and raise eyebrows, they push the envelope. And when webmasters get back from the shows and tell other webmasters what happened at the show they say so and so did this and so and so did that. Then they remember who that wild and crazy person worked for. You know the old saying no advertising is bad advertising. I mean these wild people don't go to seminars or even work their companies booths they just get FUCKED up.

Is this right? Well no and yes... It creates a big problem to poor coordinators like Kayla and Kimmy. But at the same time this creates BUSINESS for other companies that get exposure from these people's antics.

Now I think at Internext and larger shows people CAN get away with this. But at smaller shows (ie. Caracao) you CANNOT get away with this. Fuck man, if you were a jackass in Curacao you better have started looking in the want ads before you came back as you would not have a job when you got back and you would be blackballed from the industry.

Personally I am getting tired of going to shows and seeing the same people getting wild and crazy and acting like fucking children. I am all in favor for having some drinks or even a few joints but dammit we are adults and should behave like it.

We get enough heat for being in the adult industry as it is, we should put our best foot forward to prove ourselves as professionals not children.

DH

P.S. I completely agree with Aaron about not allowing that guy to bring his kids. First of all this is a business dinner, do you think Bill Gates brings his kids to his business dinners? Seconds of all our business is of an adult nature, do you want your kids to hear us talking about cumshots and anal? Common man!

Thanks for the support Brad. I would like to say this though:

The LA Webmaster Access show was great. I got a lot of business done and the parties were nice...I particularly loved Gotham Hall.

I would not hesitate to go to another one of these shows.

Oh geez, someone else brought their kids to a porn convention. This business never ceases to amaze me.

Ian.....I never told you not to go. What I specifically said was that there was no room for anybody else. You chose to take it as a kid thing. I would not be upset about this at all if you had not brought this up with others as if it were an issue.

Read the log between Carol and I. I was quite specific that I needed a 100% accurate headcount. The fact that they were children was not the driving factor in the decision but at the same time, it would not have been appropriate for them to be there.

Session Start (AIM - AMPContent:Tynidncr): Fri Nov 07 11:47:20 2003
[11:47] Tynidncr: yes I am aware - is it cool that I bring Ian?
