children, dicks and pasties

So technically since CBS can get away with it..

I could show my penis to 20million children while they eat dinner as long as I have a pastie on it?

It's absurd what money and corporations can get away with..

I say a local community law fucks em up..

any yet, not one single child was harmed.
they all survived.
incredible!

what is wrong?

from birth till 2 it's ok to stick a tit in your mouth . .
from teenager-death it's ok to stick a tit in your mouth . .
. . but all of adult society should fucking tip toe around
and go on witchhunts to prevent a 5 year old from seeing?

it's amazing how thoroughly conditioning can circumvent critical thinking.
Womens breasts are taboo for no reason and it's time to get over it.

Local communities are worried about little Bobby seeing Janet's titty, but don't mind him watching "Smash 'em up, Kill, Die Die Die" movie of the week.

Priorities...

Good point. These are the same people who are complaining that internet porn is too accessible to kids. And then they go and do that on network tv during THE busiest ratings of the year! Go figure!

CBS CAN get away with it because they didnt know about it... Why? Because if they had knew... you know that she would have had at least some sort of sticker covering her whole nipple... There's no way CBS allowed that stunt to happen with her having only a nipple ring showing big portions of her nipple... MTV might have known it though...

trading one scapegoat for another?

Nothing personal but I'm sick of this response.
It's trying to win an arguement by distraction.

I understand everyone would rather the finger-pointers
point their fingers somewhere else, but .. c'mon..
Vice City isn't any more harmful than Beavis and Butthead
or the latest Eminem CD or Janet Jacksons boobie.

(adult) movies, tv, music, video games, are all entertainment.
Entertainment producers should be siding with eachother
against stupid kneejerk reactionarys, instead of blame shifting.

This is one of the most violent countries on the planet, I don't think violence in any form is good for a kid. Some people might think their kid is smart enough to know better but we were all kids once, we had to learn from life lessons, kids do stupid shit, I know I did and all the kids around me were doing stupid stuff. Violent video games have a rating for a reason and I don't know about where you live but the kids aren't allowed to play them in game rooms around here. I"m constantly seeing kids on tv in trouble, hurt or dead from doing something violent that they saw on tv or a movie. Ok I'm done ranting.

Sure, kids played cowboys and indians with their fake guns, pretending to shoot each other and then when they grew up they got a real gun, etc. Anything is possible. I KNOW kids that do violent things because of the stuff they see in their video games, they think it's cool and fun. Some kids know better some don't. Some will learn from other kids, peer pressure. It just keeps growing, they get it from somewhere, whether it's movies, tv, games, etc. Maybe their dad is beating their mom and they get it from that. Too much violence is my point. It's contagious, I see it in myself. I'm a happy person but if some pissed off jackass happens to stumble into my life it makes me pissed off too.

Video games aren't the issue. Video games are a scapegoat. You live in the most violent culture on Earth and violent video games are a reflection of that, not a cause.

when my kids and I are playing Mortal Combat or Hitman 2 or watching Freddy Vs. Jason, it is because I am THERE AS A APRENT and have control over the situation. If I'm watching a sport event on television, I should have reasonable assurance we'll get a football game and not a tit shot. I have nothing against tit shots, if I'm aware they are going to appear.

There are some things as a parent that I can control. There are ways I can keep my kids informed. It's by being there and explaining things as I go along. If my kids and I are watching a horror movie, I generally know what to expect and can control the sitaution. I can't do that when we're watching LIVE sporting event and get something different.

It's not about a tit plopping out as goodness knows I've watched the video clip over and over enough times. It's about what I hav REASONABLE expectations of as a parent.

It's not easy being a parent these days and it gets even harder as the kids age and become more independent, but until then, I like to maintain a reasonable level of control over what my kids experience. It's called parenting and I do it as often as I'm able. I can't control the universe, but I should be able to expect to watch a sporting event and actually get to watch the event.

Bah, doesn't matter, football sucks anyways and the kids and I were watching a horror movie marathon (something I'm glad I was able to have something resembling control over)

Society is comprised mostly of adults. Adults provide food,
shelter, and everything else that advances our civilization.
So why should adults have to live in a childproofed world?

Sorry, but nobody has to notify you when they want to air something.
Adults will do what adults want to do and children will wait their turn.

I'm sick of children being used as martyrs for extremist agendas.
"Children" are the flag waved by selfserving fundamentalists to
endorse whatever ultra-conservative views they want to enforce.
The myth that mature forms of entertainment hurts kids is a lie.
'Protecting' them from the adult world (if successful) only creates
more people who are afraid of / shamed by / opposed to adult life.

edit:
not personal. it's good you let them watch movies etc.
I just dont understand why some parents think that
the rest of the world should revolve around their kids;
4 foot facists by proxy.

Too bad many Bush supporting religious right wing fundamentalists want to turn the U.S. into what many of the original Americans were rebelling against. Some of these people have more in common with the Taliban than they care to admit.

Your previous post makes you sound like you're getting old.

You have a right to your opinion ...

That stated ... what you said is mostly a bunch of horseshit!

Adults DON'T have to live in a childproof world, however - they should be able to watch a football game without a fuckin tit popping out on live television in front of their children.

It's a parents responsibility to choose what they feel is approriate for their children to be exposed to. In this case that choice was taken away!

It's reasonable for PARENTS to feel it UNNECESSARY for their children to be exposed to a tit flapping around on national television.

... and personally I don't think that it was a big deal BUT I'M an ADULT!!!

This is not coming from a conservative right-wing, fundamentalist yahoo ... just a concerned parent that happens to earn a living in the adult industry but DOES NOT WANT HIS CHILDREN EXPOSED TO IT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!

Children should simply have the right to be children for as long as possible. It is a state of being that goes by way too fast these days. They should not have to ask "why Justin pulled out Janet's private part on TV"!

We don't have to live in a childproof world, but IF as a parent we choose ...

our children SHOULD be able to live an an adult proof one!!!

and that's just my !!!

What an absolute load of shit. Do you think kids were getting knocked up in the 40s and 50s at age 13? Kids watching shit like MTV is the reason.

What if I don't want my children exposed to religion on television?

Should all religious programming be banned?

Why do you find a bare female breast offensive? I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with a bare male chest.

Yes, they were. You think teenagers didn't have sex in the 40s? .. and they didn't even have birth control! But it was treated as such a social curse on the family that the girl was usually shipped off to an aunts or grandparents and then the new baby was later presented as a sibling or cousin. A pregnant teen would not stay publically visible in school as they are allowed to now. It would not even be shown in statistics as a 'teen pregnancy', because it was such a shame to be a "bastard", somebody older, married, would claim the child as their own. Humanity hasn't suddenly changed. The same issues have always been with us. It's just that we are now maturing enough to discuss them openly. That's a good thing! Sheltering people from reality never serves us as well as a mature informed experienced perspective.

Then MONITOR what they are watching!

Parent YOUR children!

... and NO - religious programming shouldn't be banned, however - it should be noted that there are religious topics on a particular show ... just as most shows have a ratings scale shown before each airing or in the "tv guides". You know? Like "Adult language, sexual situations, etc"

I don't find a bare female breast offensive at all, BUT - I do not think the way it was exposed is appropriate for my children.

That said, my child (and future unborn child) can ask her mother or myself ANYTHING! She has been raised to be inquizative and taught not to be embarassed to bring things she doesn't understand to our attention.

All questions are answered in what we deem to be an appropriate manner for her age. We will not lie to her ... we will explain things as we can so she will understand.

... and just for the record, my child does not watch TV at all ... She is a very bright and creative child that has learned how to express herself artistically and can amuse herself and play games and do athletics with her friends, US, or on her own!

We don't have to passify her with the boob tube!

She can continue to learn for herself and grow without the influence of Kim Possible, The Power Puff Girls, and the other garbage on TV that has no real intrinsic value to her growth other than keeping her sitting still bug-eyed until a commercial comes on that brainwashes her into wanting MORE bullshit toys hawked by these cartoon characters!!!

Most parents put their kids in front of the TV for what reason?

TO BABYSIT THEM!

That is the weakest form of parenting there is!

I totally agree! If more people took the time to look after their kids instead of letting the TV/Games Console/internet baby sit them, there would be a lot less need for complaints about children seeing inappropriate content

Even the people who pretend to be the most religious don't watch that crap. Check their VCR, those right wingers are taping "Who Wants To Bang A Slut" and "Queer Eye" every night.
