Stern is as serious as I've ever heard him. He's saying goodbye sort of and asking his audience to deliver the payback on his behalf in November. He got a call last night, Deep Throat type call, the government has gone back through his shows for years and found something like 3 years ago they're going to fine him over and force CBS/Viacom to fire him. I think he's smart, he went public with the info, now the government has to choose whether they make a martyr of Stern or leave him alone.

He thinks he'll be on the air next week but that's about it.

this is sad - ANYBODY who votes for Bush, who is in this business in particular, which like Stern relies completely on the First Amendment is a moron. There is no democracy without free speech. This is a government and political party hijacked by right wing religious lunatics NO different than those we laugh at and seek to destroy in the Middle East. American Taliban.

Listening to Stern now here in Philly.....

Its sad to see him go, he made many hours of driving for me much more tolerable....

Just another reason to illustrate how the rights of free speech dont exist.

I like listening to Stern but the guy is a total drama queen. I've seen this act before out of him.

As funny as some of his stuff is, alot of it is just crude.

I think hes basically washed up, and now he can play the martyr angle. Hes pretty much just been riding out his contract till its up anyway.

that's not the point - this isn't about whether Stern is good or bad, washed up or not.

it's about a government that wants to control what is said, what is heard and what is viewed. and as a pornographer you should be very worried about what is going on because it only starts with cleaning up the radio airwaves - you ain't seen anything until video producers and webmasters begin to server jail time and it's coming. Cleaning up the Internet is going to be a huge part of Bush Part Deux. A second term for Bush - i guarantee you somebody reading this board today will be prosecuted by the government on obscenity charges during Bush's second term. And don't think you're safe because you don't have scat, fisting, or violent porn on any of your sites - this is a government that thinks Howard Stern asking somebody if they enjoy anal sex is indecent ........... imagine what they think is obscene.

the unfortunate part for Stern and the rest of the people on the public airwaves is they don't have a court to go to defend themselves like they would if the government charged them with
obscenity ....... the FCC decides what is indecent and that's that.
The FCC is all powerful in the media biz, scary how much power they have and people are about to become aware of it. No company is big enough, rich enough, powerful enough to fight the FCC because the FCC can wreak havoc on their businesses on a whim.

Not saying I have a problem with that, but the guy has basically been given a free pass the last handful of years because hes gotten more mainstream exposure and made the companies alot of money. Now that hes slipping and counting the days till his contract ends, hes a more vulnerable target.

Stern knows the game. Why do you think his movie was kept clean. If it wasn't, no big studio would have touched it, it would have got hardly any promo, and would have made very little money.

Man anybody that still believes in this administration is either very crooked themselves, and invovled, or they are like one of JIM JONES followers , or that group in San diego that was gonna catch a comet ride to heaven or something....
