I think I can do this..

Im really gunna try hard never to do it again.

Dude:

I don't think anyone in GFY has gambled the stakes I have.

I fear myself because I have the gamblin blood, I worry about Vegas because I don't want to end up gamblin.

I don't gamble often at all but, when I do I go VERY big.

Do yourself a favor and stop bullshitting yourself.

Dog race here and a little poker there, you know a few little losses and you are just going to want to go big to try and get it back.

You will never get cured if you don't stop everything.

Its like a smoker sayin " I will only try and smoke after i eat"

next thing you know your smoking after sex, then when your mad, then...you get my point.

Stop it all or you will loose everything

Sorry to bump the thread but mate you have to find another interest to replace your gambling mindset.A gambling mind is bored and needs some excitement and challenge.
Be a winner not a loser.
Its easy to say now while you feeling so low that you are going to give up gambling but as soon as the mind relaxes a bit the pressure will come back ten fold to have another bet.
Get some new friends and take up another interest.
Otherwise you are kidding yourself and you are going to feel even worse when start another gambing binge.
Theres a great song by an Australian band, The Whiltlams called "Blow up the Pokies".Try to get a copy.It really helped me see what my life had truly become when I couldn't keep away from the horses.
Also Give all your credit cards and keycards to a close friend and let them take care of your finances for a few months.Ask them to pay all your bills and to give you an allowance every day.

There's no better way to stop gambling than to go to Las Vegas for a convention.

BP seriously, you should stop watching sports for a while. I really think that that would help you.

But tell us, how much did you lose last month? Everybody is curious...

I was just thinking the same thing. Good word, man.

BP, my husband just had to stop smoking pot...me too, but it didn't bother me to quit. Him, though, he had to completely change his circle of friends, and while our old school circle are all good people, our family is a lot stronger now....we can have friends over and chill out around the kids without dipping out in shifts for a toke or whatever. It's hard, but if they really care about you, they won't tempt you. Our old friends never come around much anymore, but we know it's because they respect our decision and not because they don't love us. They are being better friends by staying away.

Hey Bone ..

See I think you came to the true realization at the end of this thread.. that which is .. something more along the lines of the bigger picture.

And if you can get a glimpse of it before it actually takes a hold of your life and prevents you from being at a stable standpoint to do anything then you will eventually become one of those horror stories you see everyday.

The good things is.. I think you now realize that this is just a THING .. and this "thing" is only a part of your life if you chose it to be.. it has not to do with YOUR life but is only something that revolves around it by your conscious choice. Remove the thing and you can start defining your live by better means more strategically and eventually find those other THINGS to make you feel just as high as you did with the previous.

It's all a process man. The nature of reality is CHANGE. Why not change for the better whenever you can.

OK IM HONESTLY ANSWERING THOSE 20 QUESTIONS NOW from
http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/20questions.html

QUESTION #1 :
Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling?

ANSWER: yes.. Of course. Thats an easy one. When I was in school doing graduate work back in 1995 Id skip class and drive to the casino. I was 30k in debt by the time I graduated. Had no job and 30k in credit card debt all from gambling. Thank god for Porn.. Paid it off, said Id never gamble big in a casino again. For the most part I never did. Casino action never appealed to me much since then. ITs been all about sports gambling since then. And no, i dont really loose any work over it, casuse i watch the games as I post on GFY and work. So if anything it made me stay home and work more..

QUESTION #2
Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy?

ANSWER: Yep. My wife told me she would leave me. It was a big stress back in the day when I was still working in healthcare before porn and when I was right out of school with this debt and just starting out.. The debt and habbit really had a strain on me, and our relationship back when affording the habbit was a problem.. The scarry thing is now, that im blowing thousands more away than ever before, but becasue our fininacial situation is good, the effects or notcing how serious my gambling is has been hidden.. Simply becasue I make enought to cover my action and losses.. It kind of like a rich person being addicted to Coke or drugs. They dont see it being a problem since they can afford it.. Its harder to realize its damage.

QUESTION #3
Did gambling affect your reputation?
ANSWER: No not really. In fact I gamble more than my friends, and they all just think im crazy.. AS for my work reputaion, yeah. I think most people in this industry know I gamble. I dont think its hurt me. Luckly working in an industry of Sin, people dont really judge ya for gambling. I think that helps when it comes to healing.
People in our biz dont really turn their backs on ya when something like this happens. Instead they give a hand to help.

QUESTION #4
Have you ever felt remorse after gambling?

ANSWER: Yes.. A lot... So much in 2001 it made me depressed. Took a good month or so to snap out of it. Quit gambling then got back in again. I think of my Grandfather who saved every nickle and dime working as a waiter all his life as a Chineese Imagrant.
He worked 60-70 hour weeks, for low wages. Yet he still was able to buy a home, and put my mom and her sister and brother through college.. He worked so hard for every penny. It almost makes me cry thinking how hard he had to work to set a future for us all and then look in the mirror at how much I blow TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars. It sickens me. And has actually put me in clinical depression at one point.

QUESTION #5
Did you ever gamble to get money with which to pay debts or otherwise solve financial difficulties?

Answer: No not anymore. But as of late ive been telling myself, one more bet, just so I can cut the losses from this year, month, week.. So I guess I change my answer to again, YES..

Hmmmm.

So far im not doing too well.

Lets answer some more here..........

CONTINUED:

QUESTION #6
Did gambling cause a decrease in your ambition or efficiency?

ANSWER: Yes.. From work.. The process, and then the after effects of a win or a loose takes a toll on you. Like drugs, there is a period where you don?t do anything but isolate yourself in a zone for a period of time. Only to snap out of it, and then to gamble again wanting and ending up back in that zone again.

QUESTION #7
Did you have a strong urge to return and win more?
ANSWER: Of course.. Stupid question.. Of course?..

QUESTION #8
Did you often gamble until your last dollar was gone?

ANSWER: Of course.. Its called degenerate.. Its happened many times.
Get up, way up. Way way up.. Then loose your profits and what you started with.
No matter how high up I got, it seemed I could in time loose it back down. Hell, if I could win 1 million bucks in a day off a bet, chances are the next day id tell myself, one more bet..

QUESTION #9
Did you ever borrow to finance your gambling?

ANSWER: Yeah in College.. Credit cards. But that was a long time ago. Told myself never gamble with my own debt again. Only play with house money. And its been that way for a while.. Ive only gone crazy on house money. But seems these past months ive been dipping into the credit cards.. This month is what opened my eyes.. Spent more than I make. And wont be able to pay it off till January.. First time this has heppend since by college days. Scares me.

QUESTION: #10 Have you ever sold anything to finance gambling?

ANSWER: No.. Well ever??? Hmm. In college I would sell my text books from my college loans, get cash and gamble with the cash.. But that was almost 10 years ago..

Ok..

Last set..

I really dont like these ones..

QUESTION:
Have you ever gambled to escape worry or trouble?
Yes..

QUESTION:
Have you ever committed, or considered committing, an illegal act to finance gambling?

ANSWER: In high school yes. I used to break into cars. But I think it was a cultural thing. Where I grew up.
My buddies who did this with me didn?t gamble. We just happed to do it, and I happened to spend my money gambling.

QUESTION:
Did gambling cause you to have difficulty in sleeping?

ANSWER: Always. Still do.

QUESTION:
Do arguments, disappointments or frustrations create within you an urge to gamble?

ANSWER:Sure..

QUESTION:
Did you ever have an urge to celebrate any good fortune by a few hours of gambling?

ANSWER:Yes.. Often

QUESTION:
Have you ever considered self destruction or suicide as a result of your gambling?

ANSWER: No.. Never.. Im the type of person who will own up to my mistakes and will do everything possible to correct it. Im not a Quitter.. In fact I think its this aggressive personality that fuled the gambling to begin with.

Good luck!

that is doable. I did it with sports - last year, new years eve I promised myself that I will take martial arts lessons for a year. Now a year has passed and I hadn't skipped a single one. I feel better now, and I'm ready to train for one more year.

I did the same with smoking 3 months ago. One day, I told myself, no more and threw out all my cigs.

But it's not important what exactly I did. The important thing is that it really works - to undo a habit, just don't do it.

Good luck, boneprone. I go to the casinos a few times a year but I know if I lived really close to one I would probably go a LOT and get myself into trouble. Gambling can be exciting and fun, but also can be scary and make you go broke.

GOOD LUCK!

The lock of the week at that time would have been betting that Boneprone would get back to sport gambling.

the part of deciding who will win or not isn't the tricky part of betting.. restraining yourself and making sure you follow good money management is the hard part.. plenty of good people hit bottom trying to win back losses..

if you can forget about losses and use common sence when staking you'll be fine..

Good luck.
I know what it is like to a cerain smaller extent. I've deleted Party Poker and reinstalled it about 5 times now. This month I've allready made about 11 deposits
I get frustrated and blow it on their stupid blackjack game with 1 big bet.
