Just because AC is trademarked in one industry does not mean someone cannot trademark it in another industry. You also, do not have to register a trademark to own it but it is a good idea to. If you do register a trademark and somebody is already using it in your industry even though you registered it they will end up with the trademark if they can show use of the mark before your registration date for the mark.

ACDelco does not compete with ACmoviepass so both would be valid. AC in alternating current would have been a patent not a trademark as patents are used to protect your rights for the creation of an item.
