I dont think they would quality for a supplemental registry, they would go str8 to the principal registry.

2 Companies with an indentical name CAN conexist as long as they're both not selling the same product. Simple as that IMO

just my

I see the point you are trying to make... and I know where you stand when it comes to UDRP but webair didn't think this through... if they were trying to be sly they should have made a stealth-play for the domain and created a new ID at Afternic. they had plenty of time to do that if you look at the offer history:
http://www.afternic.com/bidhist.php?id=523916

Quote:
nationalnet.com Offer History

Amount Time Username Status Expires

5,000.00 04/27/2005 05:13 pm EDT webair Accepted 05/04/2005 05:13 pm EDT
1,200.00 04/20/2005 04:31 pm EDT webair Expired 04/27/2005 04:31 pm EDT
A week passes by between their bids and they don't create a new ID to avoid all this mess? WTF were they thinking? They didn't even attempt to play it smart. Perhaps they were looking at this from another angle... maybe they wanted the world to know that they bought the domain.

And most importantly Slav, even if webair finds someway to keep the domain, they will feel the backlash one way or another... the longer they keep it, the worse they look in potential/current customers eyes. I for one would never use their services now, especially for registering domains... perhaps that's just me or maybe I'm the only one that's publically saying it... how many others are out there thinking this was ethically-underhanded and will switch away from webair in disgust?

Either way, it will be very interesting to see how this plays out... so pass the popcorn.

It has to be said that we're real happy with how the transition from Webair > NatNet is being handled so far by NatNets tech guys

I'd be allover NN too if I had the BW usage for it... my business isn't about BW anymore so I spread my stuff over different virtual accounts.

If I ever go dedicated again it will be with NN or ISPrime.

hehe it's obvious that Lee gets discounted hosting from Natnet, aint it?

the ONE thread that there's a chance to finally find a fault with the #1 host, undisputed on the adult web, of course you're going to take advantage.. i dont fault you, but i do want to make certain everyone knows you have a hidden agenda.

We've hosted with Net Net for 2 years happily.

We've hosted at Webair for 5 years happily.

Mike was obviously snorting coke last night when he made those threats to Gary and myself, we dont take threats to likely so re-evaluated our business decision as to which companies we spend money on hosting with.

Nat Net is costing us more than we had (at a discounted rate) at Webair, sometimes, when the owner of a company acts like a complete crack head, things must be acted upon.

If Mike wanted to keep our business, he shouldnt have given us a veiled ultimatum.

SweetT IS a standup guy who we have known much longer than Mike, we simply stated this on a public forum and Mikes (apparent) drug enduced state got the better of him, his loss, not mine.

There is nothing more to it than that.

We'd rather host with a stable company who's owner isnt prone to mood swings comparable to that of a junkie.

Regards,

Lee

common Kman, do you believe any of the shit you're spouting off here?

first of all on what fact do you make your declaration that webair is the #1 host in adult? Second of all "to finally find a fault"... dude seriously, the countless webair sucks and webair = down threads do not weigh up to the one or two "what happened to NN" threads or what about the *ZERO* threads about ISPrime? Webair #1 my ass. Mike talked me into reviewing WA and I'm doing so, but that doesn't mean you can make baseless and false posts

You know, i would like to think he is doing this as a satisfied customer of theirs and, if thats the case then fine i hae no problems with that whatsoever, we supported Webair when we were with them too.

Ill not be supporting them anymore, as far as i am concerned right now, as a host, as friends and as business collegues, they are dead to me.

There is only '1' WORD to describe Tony - That word is:

CLASS

Plain and simple - take that to the bank and cash it...

Forget the best host, etc, etc, etc.

Sweet T is classy and Hugely respected in our industry..

Enough said, there can be no more to say....

I feel like such a chump.

I was looking for new domain names not too long ago and saw that NationalNet.com was for sale. I figured it was just some prick speculator that owned it and out of principle Tony wasn't interested because he didn't need to be. Didn't cross my mind they might have been unaware of the domain's status.

In retrospect, I'm thinking I should have bought it as a gift or at least taken a few minutes to call them and let them know it was for sale. I think NatNet's shown me at least that much hospitality over the last few years.. and I'm a competitor. Now that's class!

Tony, Matt, Kathi and Andrew are some of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure of spending time with in the industry. I don't think there is a single legitimate reason why Webair purchased the domain. That being said, I would look forward to seeing them trying to use it in commerce. Tony's lawyers would eat this guy for breakfast, out of principle.

If nothing else, karma has it's own special way of dealing with bad people.

lol

I've been with National Net for so long that when i give my account number to whoever's on the phone they usually will comment on how low it is. Top notch from day one. Through good times and bad - they were the solid constent. I have virtual accounts spread out for class c's, but for the stuff that matters it's National Net.

National Net needs to obtain the domain from Webair as it looks like trademark infringement.

i can't believe they'd be this stupid - we all know ya can't buy a domain with an existing business' name and expect to run the same kind of business. at least, not for long...

what were they thinking?!??!??!?!

Perhaps they're trying to figure out how to flip this domain to someone else... I'd be real suspect if WebAir came to me trying to flip NationalNet.com - I'd wonder why the hell they owned it and what was compelling them to sell it so fast... I wouldn't want to be part of any potential lawsuits...

...so basically webair is screwed. the damage is done, even if WebAir gets rid of the domain and NN never gets it's hands on it... we all see how WebAir conducts business and this thread lives on forever.

Perhaps, an apology from Webair would smooth things out or blaming some intern for buying the name without management approval... hard to believe, but better than remaining silent (which is probably what their lawyers are advising them to do after yelling at them for such a stupid move)

If I had seen nationalnet.com for sale anywhere..I would have just purchased the domain and given it to tony as a gift.

National net has sponsored more industry events than probably any other company I can think of..CCbill and National Net probably take care of more webmasters at conventions than the rest of the companies combined.

I really cant believe this thread even exists.. its mind boggling.

Actually Mike and I had a nice conversation this week and it looks like things are going to work out very nicely. Now I know why so many people on this board think so highly of him.

Normally once a domain transfer's you have to wait 60 days to transfer it again so it may take a few weeks before you hear a resolution, but I am confident that it will all be worked out and that everyone will be smiling and one big happy family.

If I find that a webhost has bought it and is linking it to a web hosting site well that is a whole different issue that I guess I would need to discuss with my Intellectual Property Attorney's.

But...needless to say we are not going anywhere and in fact we have some very cool announcements coming up when we see everyone is Montreal!!!

Normally once a domain transfer's you have to wait 60 days to transfer it again so it may take a few weeks before you hear a resolution, but I am confident that it will all be worked out and that everyone will be smiling and one big happy family.

Looking forward to this year's NFL pool, that's all I know.
