Yeah, I'm finding that we have great results with Vic 20's. It's tough to get enough, but they're working.

There really are a lot of problems setting up reliable p2p traffic. We're still working to improve our process and today, we can deliver some very targeted effective traffic.

5-10k per month? KEEP GOING!

100 servers x $300 a pop = $30,000 PER Month and that is before you make a cent of revenue.

Now try 200 servers which would be a decent starting point...

Unless you have $100,000+ in capital available I would not even bother... Now I know that is a biased statement coming from me but I'm just trying to give you an idea of how expensive and time consuming a project like this is.

DH

I have more then 100K in the bank to do it, so thats not an issue.

Why do 100 servers cost $30,000 a month ? are you leasing them or am i missing something ?

me too.... two seperate ones actually... what people need to understand though is that there is a lot more than just having a good app and a bunch of machines.

you get out of p2p what you put into it.. its not as easy as people make it out to be.. but i guess it depends on what your expectations are... if you are just looking for a few thousand hits a day, then yes it is easy and cheap.. if you are looking for 100k-1mil, its a lot of work and a lot of money...

I don't think we're thinking of the same thing.

The one I am thinking of will be a standard I am sure. But I've already said too much, I am out of this thread.

yes i really have that kind of money to spend.

I love all you guys who say " coming soon, but cant say anythign about it"....

Seems like everyone has something "Coming soon". does anyone have something coming now.

I would like to explore all my options. If i can spend " x " and do it myself for years and years and make " x " then that is worth a shot. If it is too much money and trouble and not likely to make what i want then i may go with a easier approach like p2pads, if they can deliver.

Decissions.....

Myself and my partner, whom is an expert programmer, will both be arriving Thursday. We have some experience with running p2p on servers from several years ago. This was before MS changed the default settings in WMP to not run script commands. We quit after that as the traffic took a major dump.

Now we are starting again using DRM and are still in the development stage working with the SDK and exploring the capabilities. We'd be up for a p2p sit down and share some ideas.

There is a superb Cuban coffee shop about 1 block west and 1 block south from the hotel where they make the best breakfast and have super coffee. Maybe we can do a p2p breakfast.

I'm driving to the show so I'll have wheels.

I wouldn't worry about competition, I just think there's a LOT of demand and not many people offering a service other than P2PAds which is why I think myself and will are interested ;)

agreed.

my partner and i have been working on this non stop for over a year. its not as easy as people think. sure, its easy to set up some servers and get some decent uploads, but if you want to get 100k-1 mill uploads a day it is challenging and expensive to say the least.

we had to learn almost everything through trial and error. there are very few people that have achieved a high level of success doing p2p and almost all of them are not willing to share ideas. i cant say i blame them, but like i said there is plenty of room for p2p service related companies.

Exactly, I don't have the time committment to enter a new market like this but I'm also interested in setting up my own network as opposed to using someone else's (ie: p2pads) which is my main motivation for seeking alternatives in this marketspace.

well we should definately talk in fl. our model basically gives you all the advantages of having your own large p2p network but without the big costs.

we are more of a service provider than a traffic seller, although we do offer both.

Lets get a mailing list together real quick, send me an email and I will CC everyone on it so we can pick a time and place to try to have a meeting to go over all of this. I think we all have different levels of interest and are at different levels of development but I am sure we can each help each other one way or the other.

Honestly, P2Pads were my inspiration for getting into p2p advertising. When I achieve that goal I will send them a thankyou card. Anyone that is charging 10K a 1 month campaign and has a waiting list, and customers making money, must be sitting on a goldmind.

Right now I know I am on the right path, and guess you can say I am getting my feet wet while I while i work on putting in place what is needed to get to that 100K+ hits a day.

I am mainly looking to do this for myself, I don't have the time to resell a service. Where as marketsmart is looking to create something to provide to others, wiredguy is looking to pay for a service, etc... Most of us have different goals we are trying to accomplish here, so don't see why we can brainstorm together and throw out a few pointers. I attended the first annual p2p conference about 1 month ago, so I can shed some insight from that. I believe there is more then enough room out there for those of us who want to meet and discuss, and if we help each other out we might be able to take down the big boys

email me if you want to try to plan something. My schedule is pretty open. However I think it might be better to do something in the afternoon or night, i know mornings for some (if not all of us) could be rough.
