Porsche 550 Spyder

I am thinking of getting one of these as a kit car as the real deal is about $600-700K But after seeing them on the track I think this is a super fun car I can pick up a kit one for like 30K with everything on it 190 horse 0-60 in 4 seconds as its is so light.

great car... one of porches classics...

normally i am not a fan of replicas, but 600k is just too far out of reach for me for a classic...

u should go for it.... there is a company in venice beach or thereabouts that sells great replicas....

Always said I would own one of these someday (the kit of course).

Since I was a kid and saw James Dean next to his I fell in love. Of course he died in it shortly after buying it but that only added to the allure of this beautiful little sports car!

Very sweet car, replica or real would be awesome... I'd get one if I were in your shoes, you only got one life.. and if you want something you gotta get it... no time for Iwishis.... just do it up if you really want it.

Any Porsche (except the 914 or 924) is a pleasure to drive and own, any year. I am looking at a 911 again as well.

Im not a fan of replicas, but honestly, 600K is way to much for an old car. The technology and reliablity in a replica is 100 times better. The idea of paying a lot just to have an original, shitty, old, poorly engineered (by todays standards) car, makes no sense.

I think the problem is that a lot of the classic Porsches, Ferraris, Lotuses, early Corvettes, and even Toyotas, are hampered by the fact that people 99% of the time put vintage wheels/tires on them. Can't really blame them though, as most try to keep things looking as original and authentic as possible. But if you've ever seen a 550 on modern rims/tires, it really brings out the beauty of the lines of the car. In fact, I don't think Porsche currently has anything in its lineup that can match the aesthetic fluidity of the old 550's. Personally, my favorite Porsche is the 356

356 is also very sweet but my C4S is pretty close and will bust the balls off of it, though If I did not ahve the C4S I would look at the 356

I had a number of chances to really check out the car, and the quality, fit, finish, and performance of that car was just mind blowing. I've seen a ton of kit car build-ups (Cobra's, street rods, etc.), the engineering behind the Beck has every conceivable detail done to perfection.

Actually Beck teamed up with Coker Tires a few years back, to create tires and wheels that keep the original look but offer modern racing construction technology. Just another one of those attentions to detail I mentioned above.

Coker is so serious about this that they bought out the original moulds from Firestone and Michelin to produce their own modern day variants. That's what I call serious!
