Fucking epic cash!

I check out a rating on my site and this is what I see:

When we tested this site we found links to epicgals.com, which we found breaches browser security on our test PC.

Who say this? McAfee SiteAdvisor.

Links getting pulled on this and all of my other sites.

Check your site http://www.siteadvisor.com/

Go fix your damn site

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/epicgals.com/summary/

epicgals.com Red Verdict Image

When we browsed this site, it made unauthorized changes to our test PC.

e-mail tests for epicgals.com: 28 spammy e-mails/week

After entering our e-mail address on this site, we received 28 e-mails per week. They were very spammy.

28 Fucking Emails a week...are you fucking Nigerian?

EpicCash isn't the only one. The same warning pops up for Silvercash, WegCash, and BrainCash. Actually for SilverCash and WegCash, SiteAdvisor totally blocks the sites and a warning page comes up instead of the sponsor page.

This what I get for WegCash with SiteAdvisor on:

http://www.siteadvisor.com/exploit.h...remiu m=false

And this is for SC:

http://www.siteadvisor.com/exploit.h...re mium=false

SC told me before they knew about it, but it still shows, so not sure what's being done to solve this problem. One of my sites has a ton of red links for linking for these sponsors.

Oh and Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Maybe you should contact McAfee. Maybe they signed up and you don't know it.

Thanks for the heads up, another set of links to pull at the same time. Already done on my webmaster pages. BTW Silvercash bounced a $140 check a few years ago. The replaced the check but never paid me the bank fees after calls and emails. They claimed their bank dropped them because they were adult but the check was marked NSF.

The problem with SiteAdvisor is that it's owned by McAfee and it comes as a free add-on with most, if not all, of their programs with a deluxe paid version of SiteAdvisor. There are millions of people around the world who use McAfee security products. When they see that a porn site makes unauthorized changes to their pc, I'm pretty sure it doesn't give surfers a whole lot of confidence to keep going and sign up. So many sites already have bad reputations for downloading crap on people's computers, now surfers are being warned BEFORE it happens, whether it's true or not.

SiteAdvisor is FAR from accurate, but regular surfers don't know that. More than likely we don't lose all surfers to some of the idiotic warnings, but on the other hand, I'm sure we lose a lot. When it is accurate, SiteAdvisor did save my ass a few times from getting infected with some crap spyware/adware from a few sites.

When I check stats I turn it off, when I surf I turn it back on and use my own judgment if I want to continue or not, or how badly I want to see a site.

SiteAdvisor looks like it's full of shit. They claim "unauthorized changes" were made to their test PC but provide no evidence or explanation. They also claim that EpicCash.com gave them 4 pop-ups. Why would an affiliate program's main page give four pop-ups?

Try a test signup. Sit back and wait.

I am far from believing everything I read on the net - especially here. I would never make a post like this without what I would consider MAJOR proof to insulate myself. I would consider McAfee one of the best experts on exploits and spam - more so than 99.999% of the people who post here and so would a court of law.

I am about to add processing to some of my sites and if I don't know about this I am sure my bank would have refused me. I don't know about you but I want to pay under 4% for my processsing.

1) Ask them. I don't know what proof you are looking for.

2) Who said they came on a main page?

Are they 100%? I don't know. I do know that a negative ranking can affect me.

I know they filled out forms on my site.

Would they pay for a month on a bunch of the major programs before they would advise a site is safe or not? I would hope so.

I haven't used their software in years and just stumbled into this by accident - or was it? Maybe this was my Xmas gift - sure as hell will save me heartache and money.

Don't laugh, people who "report" for SiteAdvisor do. I don't know who does the testing, but Ben Edelman was involved with them before they were bought out by McAfee, not sure if he still is or not. I know that a lot of the people who post comments about a site are people like you and me and everyone else here, so not experts by any means. But who actually affects the SiteAdvisor rankings of a site, I really don't know.

I put a comment about my own site and they never bothered to reply.

Bottomline is that they are NOT accurate, we can laugh about it all we want, the fact still remains that all those who have McAfee products on their computers also have SiteAdvisor.

Are all those surfers going to laugh and ignore warnings when they see that a site makes unauthorized changes to their computer or sends them tons of spam or are they going to simply avoid signing up?

Missie

Right on.

You seem to be the only one to grasp the severity of this.

Even if false, Epic is foolish to not fix this. I would assume there is something going on or jimthefiend wouldn't have tried to deflect this to me promoting another program and referred only to the spam and not the exploits.

according to their site the explanation to what epic is doing is:

Exploits are rare but extremely dangerous security threats caused by a Web site "exploiting" a browser's security vulnerability. The exploit can cause the user's computer to receive programming code which can cause adware infections, keystroke spying, and other malicious actions which can leave a computer essentially unusable.

A webmaster brought to my attention some months ago that one of my sites was coming up with warnings in site advisor because i was linking to nastydollars.com (which site advisor warns of because of pop-ups or exit consoles). The particular link hadn't been converting for me anyway so as a test I took it down, and contacted site advisor asking them to re-test my site. They got back to me and said it would be scanned again in a few weeks. That was months ago and still nothing.

The worst part is that some webmasters trust site advisor like it's the gospel and will delete trades based on its results. For example, some well known freehosts come up with warnings, and not because of any general pop-ups or redirects from the owners themselves, but because a particular subdomain/account on the free host has been scanned at some point, where some cheater is doing some fucked up things with his account.

I just think in some cases a little bit of investigating will show that a site advisor warning is not a major concern

Explanation of spam is here:

E-mail Analysis Page

Overall is SiteAdvisor's overall rating for a Web site's e-mail practices. We rate sites based on both how much e-mail they send as well as how spammy the e-mail we receive from them looks. If either of these measures is higher than what we consider acceptable, we'll give the site a yellow warning. If both measures are high, or one of them looks particularly egregious, we'll give the site a red warning.

SiteAdvisor uses unique e-mail addresses for each and every sign-up form we encounter. This allows us to know which exact sign up form caused us to receive each individual e-mail, even if e-mails are sent from different senders. (As you can imagine, we get lots of spam in our inbox. Actually, we get far more than you do. We just happen to know why we got each particular piece of e-mail.)

How Much Email describes both the volume and spamminess of the e-mail we received as a result of registering at this Web site.

The volume number you see is the weekly or monthly average quantity of e-mails we received since we signed up.

The SpamAssassin score you see is a measure of an e-mail's spamminess. Spamminess may be a made up word, but its score is based on hard facts and data. To reach a number, SiteAdvisor uses definitions from SpamAssassin, an open-source spam filter. Low or negative numbers indicate low or no spamminess in the e-mails received. Higher numbers indicate increasing spamminess. The vast majority of sites that send e-mail earn scores between -5 and +20.

Spamminess measures an e-mail's commercial content and whether the e-mail employs tricks known to be used by spammers attempting to get through anti-spam filters. Since SiteAdvisor proactively signs up at the Web sites we review, we're asking for whatever it is they say they're going to send us. In that sense, some of the e-mails that we receive that get a high spamminess rating from SpamAssassin's definitions may not violate the CAN-SPAM Act or other legal or industry definitions of spam. Our goal with this score is to be able to tell you what could happen if you sign-up to, so you know whether you want to opt in yourself.

If in fact they are wrong, they should retract the dangerous rating and let Epic post the retraction as well as the link showing they are now safe. If Epic doesn't post it (or sue them) then Epic is in fact dangerous to surfers.

It is if your site loses sales as a result or you get dropped by a vendor or trading partners.

This is possibley the dumbest thing i have read on here in a while.....

Epiccash has no exploits on ITS sites...i repeat NO exploits on its sites.....never has...never will...

as far as spam goes i am sure it is the same type of emails all programs send from time to time from visiting surfers.....

i swear sometimes i wonder how some of you make a fucking cent in this biz....

sites dont get red flagged solely for user comments.. you must be a preferred reviewer..

The red flag rating s due to the email primarily and prob popups that could be construed as chaning browser settings, all automatic not manually done

A bit extreme, but that's like saying "All Germans are assholes because once upon a time, some of them were Nazis".

Sure, signing up for the Epic Mail galleries may generate spam in your inbox, but it's not reflective of the entire domain.

fact is many sites are red flagged for the wrong reasons or too harshly and that makes the service somewhat useless so i wouldnt feel bad , you would be suprised at how many sites get bad ratings.. just be glad you dont have a rating like this

it isnt saying its good or bad just how many and if it considers it spammy.. i think its pretty fair and usefull , one of the only usefull parts really notice the senders are all spoofed.. They actually manually hand signup. Fact is you would be hardpressed to find a "free email" sire or porn site that DOESNT have the same rating

"In our tests, we found downloads on this site were free of adware, spyware, and other unwanted programs."

Yet they recommend you not use the site. WTF.
