If it gets passed he has us by the balls there really isnt much to tak about.Thats why the people who are looking longterm want beat this, nothing good will come from except some people will line their pockets with quick cash. I also think you inviting him to speak like its going to happen sends a message to ICANN we accept this and most dont.
I have no doubt you have a agenda and you are hurting not helping the industry that has supported you.

To you it may appear as if we have an agenda, but we don't. But anyway...

Actually I just thought of something else to add...

Fact of the matter is members of the adult community are just not respected well enough in the mainstream world - so we either try to do what we can with this reality or do nothing at all.

The sources wouldn't seem to have an axe to grind with XBiz particularly at least most wouldn't but ya never know, I felt the same way when they implicated the FSC for the same thing way back when. Whern I confronted Bill Lyon with it he told me the truth, on the spot, He told me that he was going to have a hard battle within the FSC over it but when ICMR had dozens of people join the night of the vote in order to have enough votes to insure passage the FSC quickly turned on ICMR and upheld Lyon when he prevented them from vting on it.

Say what you like about Bill Lyon or anyone else at the FSC but they did the right thing that night...they could have made millions at 8 bucks per domain. But they saw the ugly truth

If you have too....your actions to stop .XXX will not go unapplauded by me, even if I eat crow doing it....so lets see how this all plays out.

Now as for my email...lets settle that issue too then we can have a full on cease fire if not a truce.

Hey I asked you for an answer you answered so I take your word for it.

Yes your answer looks suspicious but until someone has irrefuteable proof I'm not going to call you out.

What happens next is fully dependent on you and your actions is it not?

I liked that, and the analogy fit, so, I used it

I have no idea what it'll take to change anything - but having 1 voice is better than having none at all.

We can debate this all day but you're probably just as tired of this subject as I am.

Although its obvious to me (and probably others) who some of these 'axe grinders' are, we'll just let these people hide behind you.

Now, being that you're a fair and balanced industry reporter, who else do you plan on approaching publicly for an "official statement"? Assuming investigative reporters pursue beyond just spoon fed leads.

If you don't have the answer just do a few quick searches, shouldn't take you more than 10 mins to come up with additional leads.

And of course an "official statement" (by the definition of what has transpired during this debate) being a statement posted/published publicly by a company principal.

We're all standing by to see what you come up with - good luck!

Ok Tony I have tried to remain as objective as I can due to the topic at hand and my keen interest with what was asked? and I am now going to give you a piece of my fucking mind... the man answered the question from this angry mob?now you are just making speculation and rumors.

I like a good debate?it clears the cob webs? keeps us on our toes and requires people to see things from another perspective? but you have gone far beyond articulate fact finding and now you are acting like an entitled asshole. Like I said in a response to you earlier? If you cannot take the cold hard truth of being called out on your conduct and the manner in which you are representing yourself?then you really are just a glorified troll and I could care less about your joins, your conversion, how much money you have in the bank, you ACT like some anon troll.

You made this a war with Alec and not about Xbiz and his own personal association with .xxx ?

It went from an inquiry to an attack of a very well respected man who is held in very high regard among the people in the industry who are the pioneers, innovators, and market share leaders.

As someone who has business dealings with Xbiz I was also curious to see where this would lead but then it suddenly turned into a personal attack on Alec Helmy for no reason?even after he answered the question with a very clear ?no?. At this point you look like a conspiracy theorist who is upset because your accusations were point blank refuted by the source himself.

You then question the mans integrity after he has gone on public record as a non supporter and you?re upset because the question was not answered in the manner in which you wanted it answered?

WTF? You got what you were looking for... for the life of me I cannot understand what it is you want from this man?other than to be an antagonistic, disrespectful, and just general loud mouth trying to look like some cool bad ass.

I have no idea how long you have been in this industry... I do not have any idea what was carried over from other boards... I do know I have known this man, his wife, brother and senior staff members for years and he has yet to demonstrate to me, or the peer group that I associate myself with in this community, to be a liar or anything other than one of the most straight up determined and successful entrepreneurs who has achieved his success through hard work, dedication, creativity, and ingenuity. I remember when Alec was a little guy and he has not changed how he deals with people what so ever.

The ONLY reason I am posting this is BEACAUSE he is such a stand up person in this industry. He does not deserve this malicious attack. In the beginning I can see that as a leading trade publication you want to know if they are supporting something that could be damaging to the greater good and well being of the hard working webmaster.

Now you are saying ?Say pretty please with sugar on top? and it is completely out of line.

I am disappointed. It is disappointing to see someone you thought was bright and had worthwhile things to say and seemed like a genuine cool guy? albeit observing from a distance over the years? and then to see the kind of behavior you have exhibited this week is just disappointing?utterly embarrassing for you and disappointing.

The man went on record...that means you wait and see what happens now before you continue to go after someone after they were man enough to step up and address the issue.

You have attempted to publicly humiliate someone here and you were wrong.

You were dead ass wrong.

It?s 14:59:50

welllets see I have statements from Paul Fishbein, Dave Cummings, The Free Speech Coalition, and Farley at AVNOnline and of course you... far as I can tell thats the sum total of the people who in some way shape or form presume to speak for us.

Now if you'd like to insinute that one or more of these persons is being disingenuous please go right ahead, but so far every single one has backed up their actions with an immediate response. They didn't have to be asked over and over and they were both forthcoming and forthright. A tatic you should consider when dealing with us "low hanging fruit"

Now if your implications are Ron Levi or Lensman I believe they have been forthright about their wishes and I'm fine with that, maybe they still support .XXX maybe not but neither has claimed to speak for the industry and neither claims to be an objective news outlet.

I think we have been through this before Alec, if there's someone you think deserves to be questioned...spill it otherwise quit whining.

Supposedly yer boy Stephen knows all the people who are in a cabal to push .xxx through...by all means make it available....let us know who out enemies are, otherwise...well at the risk of repeating myself ...quit whining.

Ya so I handed you your ass in the adult press...like I said to the other guy...suck it up buttercup...better luck next time and all that.

his has presented me with the opportunity to do something positive and preventative and for that reason alone...I'm glad I did it. .XXX is far from the reality you think it is and I feel pretty good about that now.

and BTW you are welcome for the attention and the press you got....

You actually have some honest and decent people working for you, like Dusty...keep em close and listen to them.

Someone told me today the more they know about you the more they like Tim Connelly...dude that's sad....

Mike/Alec.. I remember the mention of ASACP kickbacks from a few years ago in regard to the .xxx move too. It may have come from ICM. They may have stated in a release that they intended to donate something around $10 per domain and that ASACP would be on the board of their new Adult control group to regulate the industry.

Maybe that can help pinpoint the source of the information and someone can research to verify it.

What do ya know...from XBIZ own SITE

"While the selling price for .XXX domains has not yet been determined, Jason Hendeles, ICM Registry vice president, said that $10 of each domain sale will be designated to IFFOR to contribute to issues facing the online adult industry, and of those proceeds, a percentage will be donated to the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection and the battle against child pornography."

That would be the same ASACP that Alec runs I presume.

OOPS IN ICM Registry's corrected petition for reconsideration

Note, however, that the prohibition on child pornography - which is illegal in many, but not all
countries, will not depend on governmental action in the first instance. Rather, ICM and IFFOR will
contract with an existing organization - such as ASACP - that has the ability to monitor for possible child
pornography and uses established relationships to report child pornography to the proper authorities. As
ICM is not a hosting service, take-down issues must be addressed elsewhere.

HMMM looks like ASACP has a LOT to gain from this....what do you say Alec?

HMMM IN XBIX Own Boards

ASACP CLARIFIES ITS NEUTRAL POSITION ON .XXX

Los Angeles - (June 9, 2005) – The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) neither approves nor disapproves of .xxx. In 2003, ASACP was approached by ICM Registry to support .xxx. The ASACP Advisory Council decided that such support was not within the ASACP mission; therefore, ASACP does not take a position on the concept of .xxx.

guess if I were getting kickbacks from ICMR in the form of "donations" I would claim neutrality too...that is if I were for sale...which I am NOT

welllets see I have statements from Paul Fishbein, Dave Cummings, The Free Speech Coalition, and Farley at AVNOnline and of course you... far as I can tell thats the sum total of the people who in some way shape or form presume to speak for us.

Maybe I didn't search your site well enough, but where can these statements be found?

Now if you'd like to insinute that one or more of these persons is being disingenuous please go right ahead, but so far every single one has backed up their actions with an immediate response.

Perhaps they respect you, which is why you got an immediate response.

We're not the ones who are pursuing all these theories, you are - and if you intend on digging deep then do it right - otherwise your investigative results don't carry much weight.

Ya so I handed you your ass in the adult press...like I said to the other guy...suck it up buttercup...better luck next time and all that.

"in the adult press"?

You crack me up man.

Ditto - since it looks like it worked for you too...

Yes, but I wonder why they're upset with you.

Tim Connelly? Refresh my memory, where did he used to work? who did he work with?

That would be the same ASACP that Alec runs I presume.

If .XXX gets approved then IFFOR can certainly offer to contribute to ASACP. However, it is ultimately up to the Advisory Council whether such contributions should be accepted.

False again.

I don't run ASACP.

Btw, ASACP regulary reviews its books (financials) with members of the Advisory Council - jfyi. ;)

A lot of indirect answers and beating around the bush in this thread.

An attempt to get some quotes.. find out if it's accurate or not yourself.

Greg Dumas / Is he with FSC?
Quote:
I have personally met with many of the leaders in the online adult community from around the world ... from Python Communications in Curacao ... to Netcollex in the UK ... to Hustler, Vivid, AVN and many many more have all demonstrated their support for this application.
Joan ASACP
Quote:
ASACP has been in negotiations with the International Foundation for Online
Responsibility (IFFOR) and ICM for it to serve as a hotline for reviewing
reports of suspected child pornography and to carry out the secondary
monitoring of .xxx sites for child pornography.
http://forum.icann.org/lists/stld-rfp-xxx/msg00061.html

Is Moniker involved?
Quote:
In two split panels, Jason Hendeles and Stuart Lawley from ICM Registry, the private company sponsoring the .XXX domain, and Monte Cahn, from Moniker.com, one of the Internet registrars that will help implement the new domain, took one side. Connor Young, editor-in-chief of YNOT News, Tom Hymes, from the Free Speech Coalition, and Greg Piccionelli, a partner in the firm Piccionelli & Sarno, took the opposition.
...
But Monte Cahn, who said that he was not altogether clear there is any mechanism to derail the implementation of the proposed .XXX domain, said that with ICANN’s approval, .XXX is here to stay.

"In my experience, I've never encountered an extension that was approved by ICANN and not implemented, so in my mind, the extension is coming and there's nothing anyone in this room or outside of this room is going to do to stop it," Cahn said.

Maybe that can help pinpoint the source of the information and someone can research to verify it.

Yes, they intended to.

But it's ultimately up to the Advisory Council.

I like a good debate…it clears the cob webs… keeps us on our toes and requires people to see things from another perspective… but you have gone far beyond articulate fact finding and now you are acting like an entitled asshole. Like I said in a response to you earlier… If you cannot take the cold hard truth of being called out on your conduct and the manner in which you are representing yourself…then you really are just a glorified troll and I could care less about your joins, your conversion, how much money you have in the bank, you ACT like some anon troll.

You made this a war with Alec and not about Xbiz and his own personal association with .xxx …

It went from an inquiry to an attack of a very well respected man who is held in very high regard among the people in the industry who are the pioneers, innovators, and market share leaders.

As someone who has business dealings with Xbiz I was also curious to see where this would lead but then it suddenly turned into a personal attack on Alec Helmy for no reason…even after he answered the question with a very clear “no”. At this point you look like a conspiracy theorist who is upset because your accusations were point blank refuted by the source himself.

You then question the mans integrity after he has gone on public record as a non supporter and you’re upset because the question was not answered in the manner in which you wanted it answered?

WTF? You got what you were looking for... for the life of me I cannot understand what it is you want from this man…other than to be an antagonistic, disrespectful, and just general loud mouth trying to look like some cool bad ass.

Now you are saying “Say pretty please with sugar on top” and it is completely out of line.

I am disappointed. It is disappointing to see someone you thought was bright and had worthwhile things to say and seemed like a genuine cool guy… albeit observing from a distance over the years… and then to see the kind of behavior you have exhibited this week is just disappointing…utterly embarrassing for you and disappointing.

The man went on record...that means you wait and see what happens now before you continue to go after someone after they were man enough to step up and address the issue.

You have attempted to publicly humiliate someone here and you were wrong.

You were dead ass wrong.

It’s 14:59:50
Your fucking kidding me. Did you read his answer its better to have 1 than none? Your ok with that ? This is our fucking living not a fucking game. For someone against he seems pretty fucking pro and Im not the only one in this thread that sees that. By the way the man came back and started this thread not me. He wanted to start shit with Mike again your honorable friend. Im not wrong.

Hey guys - just a word of advice. The quickest way to get this thread locked is to let the debate get out of hand. Name calling, threats etc. If we can't have a professional mature debate without resorting to stuff like that, it looks very bad for us and it'll just be a matter of time before this thread gets locked - just like some of the other ones have.

I'm sure the mods are watching this thread just waiting for a reason to shut it down - I'm just saying......

Your right Dean, I get crazy because I love what I do and I feel .xxx happens thats going to be finished for me and to be honest I find that scary. There is not one positive for .xxx. To get to be creative and make aliving of it, is a hard thing to do and I get to do that and I feel truly blessed. When I see flippant remarks, I feel like Im being played with and this makes me crazy. Im not a big player but Im a passionate one and I love my industry, I see very short term thinking or quick buck attitudes.I feel its going to fuck it up for us in the long term. You know me Im a no bullshit guy, what you see is what you get. I will now stop posting in this thread, even if provoked. I said all I had to say its beating a dead horse at this point.

Not sure I would ID one straight answer Brujah - it's too incestuous and slippery with the usual sharks ready for a feeding frenzy.

The asses can't be trusted with 5 cents. They can barely answer a simple question honestly, and only exist in this industry for their own self-promotion/glorification, regardless what charade this is under - XBiz as the "unbiased industry reporter" or ASACP as the righteous front acting as the protector of children

By admissions so far, it is clear XBiz do not consider they represent or speak for the majority of this industry - petty egos, personal agenda's and arrogance place them above that level.

The stench of insincerity is overpowering. What was the point of this idiot thread again?? Ah. yea.. Alec's ego and a need to be "top kid" in the kindergarten.
