Gay Pride:

On the Factor tonight there was a piece about Lesbians holding some kind of protest at a basket ball game. They all stood up in unison, held up there signs, and kissed one another. Their explanation was it was a pride thing and they wanted some kind of recgonition as being fans.

My thinking about gays is this: To me it is abnormal to be gay. It has been stated that approximately 10% of the population is gay. I personally doubt that it is high as 10%.

If a forest of a species of pine trees is green, but 10% are red, the red trees are abnormal trees. If all forests of that same species of pine trees has 10% red trees then it can be argued that it is normal for that species of pine tree to have 10% abnormal trees.

When the analogy is applied to gays, it can be argued that it is normal to have 10% of the population be abnormal.

The way I view it then; is how can someone take pride in being abnormal, even though it is normal to have a certain percentage of abnormal people in the population?

Instead of flaunting their abnormality, I would think they would fare better in society if they led quite lives.

I do not think that gays should be denied rights that the rest of the population has, but I do not think they should be provided any special rights or recgonition.

I will probably be bashed for being politically incorrect, or called homophobic by the gays on this board. Politically incorrect I will accept but I do not consider myself to be homophobic. I simply do not understand the gay pride thing, as I do not see that they have anything to be proud of.

Educate me in this subject.

While it's abnormal to come out of the closet at your age, it's not unheard of. So while you maybe strange and/or odd, you're not inferior...just different. Or special maybe.

just because one thing is abnormal doesn't mean that it shouldn't be in the open.

It is abnormal to be an adult webmaster, aren't you proud of your job?

It is abnormal to own a computer (if you look at the whole world).

Many things are abnormal. Main problem is that people use the world normal as it meant beeing good...

no, mainly due to the fact i don't find it necessary to point it out at every opportunity

but i'm sure that lesbians are always discriminated against at basket ball games. yeah, i seem to remember last time i went to one... the first two rows of seats were STRICTLY non-lesbian only.

Your allegation that Alexander the Great was gay is false. There is no evidence to support that claim and in fact there is plenty to refute it.

there is no criteria, you can be proud of having a 1inch dick, main part is that you feel good about yourself...and stop beeing discriminated against is not a special recognition...

If being "normal" is being like a dirty piece of bigoted war criminal trash like you Pathfinder than count me out... and I'm straight. Gays are constantly discriminated against, bashed and ridiculed by the bigots of this world - usually right-wingers. I don't blame them for having a bit of pride.

For managing to survive in a world filled with old fuckwits like you, Pathfinder, I think all gays deserve a pat on the back.

You are an intellectual infant Pathfinder; like a toddler who is first trying out his legs of common sense.

Your analogy about the red trees versus green trees was especially enlightening.

I feel considerably smarter for having read your post. Thank you.

A simple analogy makes for greater understanding among the masses.

So educate me with your greater intellect?

You patronising fuck.

Since when do we need you to construct analogies so that "the masses" - obviously a reference to everyone but you - can understand the issue?

You are not orginal mister Army man.

Why don't you go back to the army and start asking your superiors all the questions you have been asking on this board.

You know what is pretty abnormal?

A 70 year old retired soldier spending his time on an adult message board giving his comments on everything there is to comment on.

Shall we have someone research how many 70 year old retired soldiers post on adult message boards?

Actually, I am pretty sure the outcome would be less than 10% of the population of the US.

Can we label that as abnormal?

Hmm...no points for originality.

I spent over thirty years in the military and it takes a special act of congress to stay any longer than that. I didn't ask for that consideration and now I am a little long in tooth to return.

I am currently working on a new site, and post to this board and sometimes sleep. By the way I am uploading tonight, and it takes time as I have alot to upload.

What on earth are you doing all day?

I guess he's just starting to use his brain after spending his entire working life saying "Yes, sir" and mindlessly following orders given to him by his superiors.

It must be hard for him.... learning how to think independent thoughts for the first time at 70.

FUS, I have been out of the Army for 21 years. I gave orders as well as received orders, and that is the way of the military. I worked at a College for a number of years as a civilian.

No more information for you. Next!

Not complaining about lesbians kissing.

I am stating that I don't understand this gay pride thing and wanting special recognition as being fans.

I dunno.. I don't really see it being any different than the people who stand outside news programs or whatnot and hold up signs saying "baltimore rocks!" or "hello brian" or whatever.. people do all sorts of stuff for a bit of attention.. look at jerry springer.

Those people are after attention, but on the Factor the two spokesman for the Lesbians, spoke of protest, pride, and wanting some kind of official recognition as being lesbian fans. It appeared that they were wanting something other than ordinary attention.

I couldn't make much sense of their position and O'Rielly couldn't either.

If we were all gay the species would die off. Gays should be thankful straight people continue to make babies so we have generation after generation of new life.

Well I'm gay and I can only spealk for myself, but sometimes being gay can put you into tough situations.

There are still places where one can be fired for it and places in the world where you can be jailed and even killed for it. There are even places in America where if people find out your gay the cops will come and beat you up, and make up a story that you were selling drugs or something to cover it up. I've seen it happen.

If you don't open your mouth then you're just going to get stepped on your whole life. That's what I feel gay rights is about.

I never came out of the closet at work and it sucked having to make up lies about having a girlfriend, or not dating because I'm looking for the right girl. I just wanted to tell everyone to fuck off and leave me alone to just do my job.

It also sucks that if I'm dating a guy I can't hold his hand while I walk down the street. Well yes I could, theres no law against it, but I'll be made to feel very uncomfortable by the looks. I'm talking about doing that in east fuckhead Alabama, not in Northern California.

As for "abnormal", a tree won't mind being called abnormal, but a person doesn't like that.

Also in my experience if you look at any established gay neighborhood you'll find that it's one of the most expensive neighborhoods to live in, because gays will move into a dump, fix it up, and then the yuppies will come in drive the price up, usually making it too expensive and the gays will be forced to move out. So don't talk about gays as abnormal, we work our asses off and are productive tax paying members of society.

eh.. protest, pride etc go along with being part of a generally despised minority.. I wouldn't take it as some plan to take over the world sporting arenas.. just the thing you say if you're a part of that minority.. just like 15 year old girls would say hi to their best friends .. older teens might "shout out" their school or whatever.. I don't think they were wanting "were wanting something other than ordinary attention.".. just the baggage that goes along with that minority..

Gay rights. How about citizen rights instead of gay rights. In the US all citizens should have equal rights under the law, not special rights, or special recognition.

Rights are one thing, gay pride is a different thing, and I for one do not understand the flaunting of being gay or taking any special pride in being gay and I think that it probably has a backlash effect.

I think that abnormal is a more civil term to use than "freak of nature" and I doubt that gays work any harder than any average person, but yes, it is my understanding that for the most part gays are productive tax paying members of society.

And while we pay our full share of taxes, just like you, we can't get married if we want to, because a bunch of old douchebags in power say so.
Doesn't that suck Pathfinder?

Think about that next time you look at your wedding ring (if you're married, I don't know you) and someone told you that it's illegal and your marriage is not recognized anywhere, even though you're a citizen, pay your taxes and go to work everyday just like everyone else, but dont have the same right as everyone else.

How would you feel?

I mean hey.. I didn't see the thing... but im not sure whether it's worth a thread.. we all know people want recognition etc. we all know where everyone stands.. im sure you weren't shocked by them.. I don't see the problem with homosexuality so I don't see the point im making a fuss starting a thread. Its not as if they're an underground organisation trying to take over the world. you might as well start a thread when a black guy or women talks about african americans/womens recognition as business people or me going on about how aussies aren't all cork hat wearing kangaroo riding farmers.... it's not as if *your* rights are being eroded.. so who cares what some idiot at a sporting event was standing for?

agree

Although I dont think that ANY 'minority' that wants to be 'accepted'and complains about being 'discriminated' should demand special rights or recognition.

That just doenst make sense.. get my point?
