I've dated a bipolar guy who was borderline schitzophrenic to boot. That's not exactly fun either.

I once dated a bipolar woman in New Jersey. The thing that really pissed me off is that she would constantly use it as a crutch to justify her bullshit. I'm bipolar too, but I never ever use it as a crutch, my actions are my actions regardless of what I do or what's wrong with my head.

I had 2 kids with her and I actually had to removed her from the house the day my son at the time was 6 and he said " Dad .. i am sad .. i think i want to go drown myself in the pool" .. he was learning from her behavior how she dealt with things .. I know this sounds harsh .. sorry I lived 7 years in the most self destructive relationship because I kept thinking any day now they will have a cure .. I was wrong .. it's an unbelievably difficult disease to live with as the patient .. and 100 times worse as the partner .. if your gonna stay .. go to doctors appointments ..councilors .. psychiatrists .. etc.... and read and learn as much as you can about it .. but like i started saying .. I couldn't do it and I would never recommend it to anyone .. sorry ...and I do apologise to any and everyone with this disorder .. this has just been my experience ..
Very well put.

I had very similar experiences with my ex-girlfriend. Initially I was trying to 'save her' too, but it finally got to the point where I had to say, "If you're not willing to deal with this and work through this problem together with professional help, I'm out of here." She made her choice and I made mine.

As hard as it's been not to be with her anymore I'm glad I made that decision before we had children together.

I hope everything works out for you bro.

Just made a call on your behalf to a friend experienced in such matters and she said to try to get her on Depakote. She said you should see results within days. If she does not want to seek treatment you may have to cut ties for your own happiness.

I think that my girlfriend is bi-polar to a centain extent. I guess here, all you have to do, isto decide for yourself whether you wish to put up with her mood-change and be together or split up and go separate ways
