When was the last time you've been to a chiropractor?

My wife just asked me that, and I said that I've never been. She was kinda shocked.

Am I strange that I've never been to one? I wasn't under the impression that this was a common thing that everyone does regularly.

When was the last time you've been to a chiropractor?

I go regularly, but because I play rugby in the front row and have a messed up back from the scrummaging.

I know a lot more women who go than men, if it is not injury related.

Go just once... and you'll have to go for the rest of your life.

No, I've never been.

This is what scares me... my wife had a sore back.. so she went. She felt better for a little while... but now, I swear... if she hasn't gone in a week, her back is WAY worse than it ever was before.

Is the chiropractor really making things better or worse?

I used to go 3 times a week
but after a year or so I figured out that it wasn't really helping me at all
it was only costing me money, so I stopped going.

Well, I do understand how a well aligned spine can definitely increase one's health... not constricting nerves, life blood, spinal flood, muscles or anything else is always a plus.
A spine out of alignment can cause any number of problems as it's the core of your system.

However, whether or not I believe that any old chiropractor really has the ability to diagnose ailments and correct them with "adjustments" and such, I don't know.

well i don't know that much about it but if my spine was out of alignment (not sure how they can become that way without a serious injury happening) i'd be going to a doctor, not a chiropractor.

Well, let's see... poor posture, walking improperly (leaning, weight shifted to one side, bad shoes), age, bad sleep (poor bed quality or just sleeping in strange positions), injury, improper heavy lifting.... and there's a lot more. All of these things can lead to having a spine out of alignment.

And there's very little a doctor can do about it besides suggesting better shoes, a better bed, sitting up straight and just being generally more conscious about your posture.

When was the last time you've been to a chiropractor?
Yesterday.
Been going to one regularly for the last 9 months or so. Started out three times a week, then twice a week...now I'm on once a week. Sometime soon here it will be every other week, then a little less, and then I'll be done.

I have to say I am much better. When I was helping Media move I was fine carrying stuff all night. Well... until I fell off of the truck, that really hurt. But other then that I was actually able to help a friend move. It has been a long time since I've been able to be one of the people who actually does the lifting instead of just getting the door, and carrying the light stuff.

I would recommend when you are picking out a chiropractor to not just go to the first one, find someone who specializes in physical therapy, or basically someone who fixes real problems, not someone trying to 'get those toxins out of you' or some other crazy crap.

Signed pictures from Steve Erwin on the wall that say 'Thanks for fixin' me doc' are always a plus too, I guess.

i guess i should consider myself lucky that i generally don't have any back problems. how do you know your spine is out of alignment? just back pain? though i guess my back bothers me sometimes when i walk long distances but i don't know, it just seems that once you're going, you're going for life.

I go regularly, have for the past year. It does get a bit worse at first but after the adjustment curve of about a month to a month and a half, you feel amazingly better. It's improved my life in so many ways.

After a accident I was going about 2 times a week for about a yr, now I go 2 times a yr. My back has been stiff the last few weeks so it's about time to go again.

Having been involved in the industry I can only say that going to a chiropractor is nuts. They can't do anything that a real doctor can't do better.

Because they know how to set you so you will have to return. It is part of the game.

my wife goes every week. I go a bit less. I'll tell you it helps all kinds of things. I go when I'm congested and my nose clears right up.

Honestly, I think most people would do better by spending a little time in the gym doing some core exercises. Abs, and lumbar specifically. Tighter and stronger muscles will relieve a lot of back pain. IMHO, far better than some non-doctor spine alignment genie.

I had back problems for years after a car accident. Spasms that would drop me in my tracks and things like that. After getting back to the gym and getting back in shape, no more problems what-so-ever.
