People confuse the constitutional right of "Freedom of Speech" with employers being able to fire you for wiping your ass the wrong way. You aren't protected from someone firing you for saying something by the constitution, you're protected from the government passing laws against your right to free speech.

That said, I think it's weak they fired him.

My anger is against political correctness in all its forms, sure the corporation has a right to fire him, but that should be their decision to make not the decision of some hypocritical n*ggers protesting out in front of his job. You are right. The Slaughterhouse cases from the 1860s did hold (still valid today) that the US Constitution protects only against STATE (ie., government) action.
