Articles of Incorpration in oregon are $75 and get you your state id number. None of the other stuff is required. The Corp Federal ID is a form you can fill out online for free in about 2 minutes. The S-Corp form is a form you can mail in and fill out in about 1 minute. The only 3 things you need are a federal ID, state ID, and S-Corp election. Total price, $75, time to file, about 15 minutes. So I would say that's on the high side. |

When you file for your corp ID you actualy get it right away online now. It takes like 5 mins.
To file to S-Corp its tiny little 1 page form. Takes less than 2 mins to fill out.

Also, one last question, if I pay myself a salary, and then if I want to take out the rest of the corporate money to my personal account, can I just transfer it, or is there some other process for that?

If you want to pay $950 for something you could do yourself go ahead.
Who needs an attorney when they will send you all the forms to fill out? If you can read and write you can save yourself some cash. If you're rollin in the dough and don't have time...sure, pay someone else to do it. The end result will be the same.

I am in the USA.
My CPA (who is very very good and normally does doctors, lawyers, etc) told me that the additional bookkeeping costs with his office would be about $3000 a year. That it required totally different bookkeeping (meticulous) than the shoebox of receipts and the scribbled notes I give him once a year and I probably wouldn't be able to keep the paperwork up.) I only pay him about $700-$900 a year for doing my taxes this way. He knows what I do, he has done my taxes for maybe 15 years since I had a retail store. He is very good and I trust him 100%. It wasn't the cost of incorporation, it was the difference in bookkeeping. And I don't have extra hours in the day to do weird extra bookkeeping. |

That said, getting a taxpayer ID so you don't have to give your social security number to every "fly-by'night" sponsor is worth it. Free online or my accountant did it free, also.

Nowadays if you pay more than $100 for everything including tax ID you paid too much. You can do it yourself, get a paydex down the line and start applying for big corporate credit accounts and LOCs etc. Many without a PG. |

I have a question, is the "corporate federal id number" the same thing as an EIN? or tax id number?
Also, I know I can file incorporation online but what about "stock certificates" and "corporate seal" and "organizational minutes"? Is that something I can do too? |

I think you should seriously consider making a research purchase.
http://www.amazon.com/Incorporating-...6472252&sr=8-6 Forming the actual corporation is the easy part, knowing what to do with it later is the tough one. Make good friends with your Accountant and Attorney. Check your local area for Small Business forums/classes which meet monthly or whenever and find some like minded persons who are growing as well.

I did it myself, here in Vegas for less than $200.
Nevada sucks though, they charge around $200 a year to stay registered. |
