They sell traffic by the popup, and people bid on the urls. By posting about Zango the only bad that has come out of all of this is that the cost per click has gone up because more people bidding on their services. (AFF perfect example.) SO some asshole pays .04 a popup for my sponsor's url (my traffic) where as before he was buying it for .01. The amount of popups the infected user is seeing is the SAME. Zango caps how many is allowed to happen over a period of time so more people buying traffic doesn't mean more popups, just means zango makes more per pop up. My traffic is still being stolen regardless. The other part is the assholes who read this and want to use zango, let them. They expose themselves and I am sure a lot of people will stop doing business with them or skip over them in the future.

GOOD from my posting here: Make all affiliates aware how zango works so they never promote them. Some people were promoting them and stopped because they had no idea how it worked. Some webmasters have made scripts that notify the surfer their pc is infected. The sponsors who use stolen traffic have been exposed.

Bad: zango makes more per click from assholes who want to buy traffic from them.

While I don't want Zango to make more money, them making more money hasn't hurt me or anyone else here. If more sponsors stop using them, we keep working on people doing the installs , and the FTC stays on their ass, then we have a shot.

I think the good outweighs the bad.

So why don't you shut the fuck up for a little while, stop making stupid fucking comments like all i am doing is educating people how to use zango, and try a little reading comprehension and see if it can sink in this time.

Last time I checked, they are an adware company not a spyware/malware company.

They clearly lay out terms and what comes bundled with their shit, so in no way are they 'infecting' users. It is very easy to remove, and each popup window clearly identifies the ad is served with Zango and provides links to removal instructions.

It currently conforms to all laws and requirements. They are running a brilliant operation and probably rolling in the dough.

In no way are they 'stealing' your sales, as the user has consented to receiving relevant advertisements to their searching.

Can't blame people for outsmarting the masses and reaping the rewards.

Legally, it isn't theft. There has been a history of shadyness around the IT industry from the start. I would be surprised if you could name one big name IT company that didn't get the top by playing dirty.

Everyone should be focused more on the hackers who are actually infecting users instead of consenting users who install Zango.

I hate Zango also, and in no way am I supporting them. However, they are playing within the rules and certainly had a unique idea which has made them rich.

We'll have to agree to differ on that. I really don't think there should be a trace of it left after uninstall. Every time I uninstall it just like Zango recommends, I'll get several traces left over after running a spyware scan. When I run a different malware remover, it will pick up even more. Then searching the registry will turn up more.

I can't agree that their practices don't facilitate theft. If I just payed Google a buck to get that paying surfer to Sponsor A, and Sponsor A ends up paying themselves or another affiliate for that customer by use of cookies or popping the same exact page over my target page. It certainly isn't a nice thing to do. P.S. I have talked with sponsors that told me that one of the several people targeting their sites was actually Zango themselves. Is it true? Don't know, but I believe them. It might eventually come out someday after a discovery session, who knows.

If you pay more than anyone else why do you need to put up your payments? You are already the best place to send the traffic and there's little chance of someone sending it elsewhere.

If on the other hand you are slipping then you do need to pay more to get more people to stay on to try your program.

I agree with you that it may be better to be cautious, and I do realize it does hurt affiliates quite often-- but zangocash is not nearly as bad as a lot of other programs that do direct cookie stuffing and realtime page modification of affiliate links and hijacking of SERPs, etc.

popups rob affiliates of money too, if you want to get technical-- they can overwrite a "legitimate" cookie, which means the legit site just lost their commissions. it's all a matter of degrees.

nothing is absolute; what one webmaster considers ethical another may not.

I do however believe that affiliates should be informed of the potential risks of using such a program and the fact that such programs may be hurting themselves and other webmasters.

as a side note, plenty of people and / or companies settle a lawsuit when they've done nothing wrong... if you're innocent but you think the odds may not be in your favor or you don't want to risk it, it's quite common to settle. plenty of people sued by the RIAA did nothing wrong, yet settled because if they would have lost they could have faced much stiffer penalties.

zango isn't something I'd want on my PC, but it isn't nearly as bad as a lot of other things out there.zango does quite well with me. I use their videos on some of the media sites I own. I get an average of 1:5 click/install ratio for content syndication. For gateway installs I have about 1:25. It's nice income for me, about $3-4k/month. As long as you follow their rules and communicate well with your rep. you will get paid on time. I focus mainly on the model videos, they seem to do best for my demographics.

Paying out 50% of $100 = $50

Unless you massively increase the turnover you can lose more than you gain. Unless there are catches. Maybe getting lots of newbies to send traffic they never get paid on makes it profitable.

To say that Zango / Seekmo / Hotbar / 180solutions / Metricsdirect software is easy to uninstall is almost true, depending on how and where you get it. But it certainly leaves a lot of artery clogging shit behind.

If you don't think you are losing sales to this type of software...
Even today you can lose a sale by Zango software popping up someones page that is identical to the page you just sent that surfer to. If that is not facilitating theft, what is? If a surfer is on AFF, why is there any reason to pop another full page of AFF, if not to steal that customer?

Sorry I got it wrong. I don't think the biggest is the one who pays out the most to affiliates. I was thinking it's the one who makes the most money.

As I showed you the gains in sign ups have to rise a lot faster than the rise in payouts to just stay level. But if it's all about how much you payout you are dead right. Different scales of how we judge success.

And if you believe that you're stupid. Maybe he thinks you are stupid and that's why he's telling you this. He's not the tooth fairy and neither is AFF. The biggest guy is not always the guy who gives away the most. He can be trying to hold on to market share, trying to keep traffic from going elsewhere, trying to look like a good guy by paying out more.

If you think AFF will do 3% more sign ups for every 1% more they pay out then good for you. I do not think it's that easy.

Last time I checked, they are an adware company not a spyware/malware company. They clearly lay out terms and what comes bundled with their shit, so in no way are they 'infecting' users. It is very easy to remove, and each popup window clearly identifies the ad is served with Zango and provides links to removal instructions. It currently conforms to all laws and requirements. They are running a brilliant operation and probably rolling in the dough. In no way are they 'stealing' your sales, as the user has consented to receiving relevant advertisements to their searching. Can't blame people for outsmarting the masses and reaping the rewards.

I do however believe that affiliates should be informed of the potential risks of using such a program and the fact that such programs may be hurting themselves and other webmasters. as a side note, plenty of people and / or companies settle a lawsuit when they've done nothing wrong... if you're innocent but you think the odds may not be in your favor or you don't want to risk it, it's quite common to settle. plenty of people sued by the RIAA did nothing wrong, yet settled because if they would have lost they could have faced much stiffer penalties. __________________they do not give you viruses. "spyware" and "adware" are not synonymous with "evil evil software." the alexa toolbar is spyware. as is the google toolbar. as is windows itself, actually. opera was adware. ad-supported-software. if you want to get technical, google itself is adware-- it's software delivered on a web platform that's supported by ads. all of these things lie on a continuum. zango isn't something I'd want on my PC, but it isn't nearly as bad as a lot of other things out there.zango does quite well with me. I use their videos on some of the media sites I own. I get an average of 1:5 click/install ratio for content syndication. For gateway installs I have about 1:25. It's nice income for me, about $3-4k/month. As long as you follow their rules and communicate well with your rep. you will get paid on time. I focus mainly on the model videos, they seem to do best for my demographics.
