Most people on this board weren't even born during that time. I was born in 1972 but damn. I would have been 4 years old rocking the stock market like a little female pimp, and making it big by the time I was 18. That's the only good thing I could think of from your question.

I think Microsoft was a private company until 1986 when they had their IPO. So the average joe wouldn't have been able to invest in Microsoft in 1978 anyways.
