I have experience in ALL if that.
I been designing for over 10 years now and have worked with some of the largest companies around, plus worked for 2 major message boards.
I am low key guy because I normally work exclusively, for a sponsor.
I done work for , Intergal, CE, Shaw Internet, Traffic Cash Gold and many others.

Up until January, I worked for a year and a half for LotzaDollars and left there to go work for EscortBiz and TushyCash.

Lots of people from the old days, back on Ynot, know me as Rhino.
RB, Dean from Intergal, Meat, Aga, PK, Mike Gatefold, Rackhard, Lensman, Webfather and many others know me.

I've had many differant handles from different times, I worked with different companies, off here.
Don't let my post count fool you.
I been here a longgggggggg time.

But, If I don't know you, I will always ask for half up front.
If we have done business before, or if your a reputable, I'll work with you or even do the work up front.

Otherwise, the way I see it. If they won't even do a portion of the money up front or do something to garrentee, once the job is done, I'll get paid.
Then, they won't pay.

I just gave a guy a break and did a members logo for him and worked 2 days on this, only to have him skate around on me and I never got a dime.

I know my shit and I don't fuck around, when it comes to work.
The only reason why I may not get the job done is because...
I'm either dead..or on my deathbed.

Unacceptable.

When it's repeat business, you should give it "top notch guy priority" to keep the contract. When your work slides, deadlines are passed, and I start hearing designer's excuse handbook, then I pull the contract and go elsewhere.

The difference in the past was there was no monetary penalty.

Lets not confuse repeat customer with friend ... repeat customers are my number 1 priority which is essential if you want any future business. I have worked for many of the same clients for over 5 years, a handful for 9 years. I'll never understand why a repeat customer would come second. Every job done well is almost a guarantee of another job ...

My parents owned a restaurant for 17 years while I was growing up & without repeat business they would have gone under a couple of times.

But ... I also do a lot of mates rates jobs for friends & they will always wait the longest. I don't think that's a quality unique to designers though, my mechanic is the same but I couldn't complain because he hardly ever charged me!

Put a few of us mid level designers to the test ... we might not be mike wylde or blue design studios, but our prices are right and you might just find a couple of good folks to work with. ;-)

Seeing as I'm considering offering my services, I might be a little vain and recommend myself.

This has proven sooooo true it fills me with glee.

In the past when I just through out a simple design request, my ICQ blew up because I had designers from Russia, US, UK, Canada the Philippines and everywhere else hitting me up wanting to do work for us.

However in THIS case. Only the cream of the crop have contacted me, or I them (still working through the list as I have time to talk) that can make the commitment on this level.

They know coming in what I am looking for, and vice versa. Now it's a simple matter of matching up skill sets for the projects. Some are more detailed and need programmers versus just a designer.

It has been an interesting experiment to say the least.
