lately since the bros have been exposed how they conduct business and finally get a little more resistance, i see them referring to 'the old days' etc etc. when they were starting out and not yet all over eachothers dicks, saying that were good times and that most of the people now dont know them (a lame hint saying peeps who dont know the dinosaurs are "noobs").
All i can say is - times change. Get used to it. Suck it up. Move on. |

CJ I don't miss the old days- I miss the "hustle" of the old days and the innovators of this biz.
This business has become too homogenized and very unoriginal. Those are two words you could never say about Joe. The first time I met Joe was over the phone when I worked for YNOT and he owed us $40,000 I threatened to come down and pay him a visit and was relentless in my collections for Rick Muenyoung- He ended up asking me what I was doing that night ( it was a Friday) the next thing I know - he had booked me two first class tickets to Lauderdale that evening and made me an offer once I got there to run his new magazine, KLIXXX. I told him NO but he had already put me on his payroll at $300 a week just to write an article or two- He paid me for 6 mos and I never did anything- I also told him numerous times to quit sending me checks- but he still did. ![]() |

and btw... KB... do you think people here are so fucking stupid or new that they cant see that every one of your threads has some sort of self serving purpose... like this one for example: "you have been in the business so long..."
if it wasnt out of respect for d, you would have been run out of this industry long ago... |

Funny Story Kb.
I always had love / good feelings for Joe, he was always a mench to me. I know he had issues with some and of course JB, none of my biz so... Jb was also cool beans all the time. Man alot of stories out there about Joe.. Besides all the partying, getting fucked up, etc he was pretty damm good at marketing and spreading the word / love of TCG.. I knew when he would post about his X and Daughter in MI or some state that way that he was good people - I read ppl pretty good and could tell he had a big heart for his family - / daughter... My fondest wild night was at the first or 2 jamaica convention with Dokk, staying at the white hotel I think, Charlatin??? (sp), Me and Fletch, Joe, and some others were in the Hotel bar getting loose, Joe was getting hammered as hell and then it got loud, think a chair or table got knocked over, and we all ended up outside. So were at the bottom of some stairs leading up to rooms and Joe is being funny as heck, where is Dokk, Where is Dokk (dokk will always like and enjoy his company btw), I think Dokk came around with some Ganja Cakes (remember those?) and then we ate some, smoked a little and just sat on the steps and laughed and talked for awhile. Wasn't a big party or anything you know but it was just cool as heck - hanging out, talking about women, etc, etc. I hope Joe is ok and doing well.....

![]() Joe E, me and Jeff Shit we had a blast with this him, KBizzle remember the party in LA at the strip club guys house who had the Major Domo, or however your pronounce that. As far as Joe E being the American version of Greg, I don't agree. Greg was always well balanced and kept his cool, Joe E could simply get out of control, I remember the 2 shows in New Orleans one year and he was wild. Good memories of him, always had a blast with him around and I hope he is doing well G

Joe E was fun.
Since people are telling stories... I'll keep mine manly and without tears like he died or something. We partied in Jamaica. We got pretty drunk. Joe started this little game called, "trade punches". At least that's what I'll name it since that's what it was. He was trying to get me to hit him, so I threw little pussy shots at his arm thinking, I'm not hitting this guy. Then he throws a monster kidney punch, pretty fucking hard, caught me by surprise with that since no one in their right mind would throw a blow like that in my back. Then I had no issue trading shots, it was more instinctive when someone hits you hard in your kidneys. I just remember throwing a massive shot back to his arm, didn't have the heart to hit his back, at first that is. All he wore in Jamaica were tank tops. His shoulder bruised up pretty fast, I was proud. Looked really good the next day. Moral of the story. No matter how much someone makes, they bruise just the same. It turned into a funny thing when he'd creep up on me and hit my back, I must have been pretty wasted. I had a blast with him on that trip. And he snagged my Eek-A-Mouse shirt, to cover his bruise! Sorry, no drug references, no hookers, no money involved. Just a clean story with a little booze. As for the old days... Everyone was fucked up then and everyone is fucked up now. Faces change, the game remains the same.

Everybody loves generous Joe except the people who's money he's been
spending. JoeE never earned a buck himself in his whole life.....nuff said. If you look up the word parasite in a dictionary you'll find a pic of Joe together with the description.

Joe E was a true character of his time, and it was certainly a memorable moment in my life when I got to hang with him for a night. The stories which included his sinking boat, the keys he gave me to his car, the nice steak at the strip club restaurant, the strippers we had hanging from us all night and then the feeling of being a dick when I had to leave him in a late night bar at 6am to go have a breakfast meeting with Bobby Cox of iBill at 7am. But the one fact that most people miss about the man is how much of a regular Joe he really is. Without saying too much here in public, the most important thing I learned about Joe that night was his love of his family. Rock on Joe E.

You were not making money on the net in 1996. You were barely making money in 1996, not enough to pay for bandwidth and had to chase poor ISP on the parking lot with your car in the begining of 1996.
In March of 1997 you met Serge who blessed Florida with his visit in his beaten up station wagon and who opened your eyes and POCKET to the magic of RECURRING BILLING! By 1998 you were almost in the Big League and now you are a Big Kahoona! You were not anywhere near to in 1996!

I hear what you are saying about the old days, it was a stack of fun, but there was no glorified hustle or innovators like you remember ... it was just a bunch of people standing under a rain cloud with a bucket. The innovators came when competition came, but really there's still not much more or less innovation here today than there was in 96, 99, 2002 ... the business people & innovators made their money & got out, they didn't spend their money and get driven out. Everything we went through back then was a learning experience ... I just don't understand how you couldn't have learnt that throwing money around to show others how much you have isn't good business. It might have been cool, fun, hustle etc, but we were all just average folk making easy money & showing it off to anyone who cared. I long for the days of Faye's shows with 500 odd people, 1 party per night and nobody wanting to kill each other for ripping them off. Busty, that's a great photo of you and jeff!! We used to bump into each other all the time back in those days. I am trying to remember the name of that beautiful girl who worked with you, starts with L - your sister or jeff's sister I think? I always had a good chat with her & she was such a beautiful girl. I'm trying to find the photos of us but that's going back several hard drives ;/ |

Faye & Dave always put on the best shows & back then it was small enough that everyone knew each other. I just love those guys so much! Once I arrived in vegas a few days early for some tourist activity and the 3 of us went and saw a classic vegas show. It was a hoot of a night with Faye & I called up onto the stage to dance. Damn you kb for this reminiscing!!! ;p Its really been the week for it ... |

![]() I hear what your saying from a logical standpoint about how innovators came when competition came BUT do you really believe there were no innovators and no hustle back then CJ? Robin Nixon wasn't an innovator? Slick Rick from YNOT? Ron Levi? Serge? Al Hadhazy? The guys behind Video Secrets and Python's live sex from amsterdam? The adult online business today, the various business models - and commerce on the net as a whole is based on all the innovative shit that was absolutely created in those days. Granted, it was easier to make a buck because it wasn't so saturated - but seriously, it wasn't just standing around with buckets and $$$ falling from the sky - it was ALWAYS A HUSTLE ![]() Regardless of the fast money coming in and going out - I don't regret ... nor would I change a thing. The travel, the shows, the partying, THE PARTIES were all great life experiences ... and learning experiences! Best of all, I have deep rooted friendships and business relationships that have lasted the test of time from those days. AND, these days are great too! I've settled down, have two beautiful kids and a wife I adore - I'm happier today than I've ever been and I owe a lot of that to THE OLD DAYS ![]() |

J$tyle$, oh yeah, there was hustle and hype and drama and all that ... but do you seriously think that video secrets are responsible for streaming video and live sex shows? The companies that created webcams and the video technology 'innovated' that ... we just came along and used it at a time when millions of people around the world with credit cards wanted to use the technology for sex. We tried it, tested it, improved it, made it better, marketed it etc, but we didn't innovate it. Although I guess we could get stuck on semantics of the meaning of that word LOL
Honestly, how can you say that its innovative to say 'hey i have a great idea, i'll use this webcam to broadcast sex!'? That's basically what we are saying about all of these 'innovators'. You know I've worked with a few of those who are considered innovators, but even they will tell you they just did something a bit different to the person before. I mean really ... lets not give ourselves so much credit for doing what any idiot could have done! I do agree with you on 1 thing though ... I don't regret any of it. The good, bad and ugly ... if nothing else I'm grateful for the lessons I learnt so young & the people I've met & learnt from along the way. And it sure was fun .... |

![]() I guess we can agree to disagree then because when you use the word "innovators", the following interpetations or definitions come to my mind - and all of the people I mentioned are credited with the following: Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) - Cite This Source in·no·vate /ˈɪnəˌveɪt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[in-uh-veyt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, -vat·ed, -vat·ing. ?verb (used without object) 1. to introduce something new; make changes in anything established. ?verb (used with object) 2. to introduce (something new) for or as if for the first time: to innovate a computer operating system. 3. Archaic. to alter. The classic definitions of innovation include: 1. the process of making improvements by introducing something new 2. the act of introducing something new: something newly introduced (The American Heritage Dictionary). 3. the process of translating new ideas into tangible societal impact (Krisztina Holly, Vice Provost, University of Southern California, and Executive Director of USC Stevens Institute for Innovation) 4. the introduction of something new. [QUOTE=TheAmericanCannibal;12805114]As this next AVN show in Florida approaches I get a melancholy feeling knowing that I am going to the "land of Elkind" and won't be seeing his crazy smile and antics...

J, should I now go and do the same with the word 'new'?
I just don't think those who decided to pay per click instead of per join or those who figured out how to transfer video over the internet are as important to the world as we in this industry like to tell ourselves. |

OK - I have finally gotten my head around the fact that an old mate has passed from us, and I thought I would come back to this thread and touch base again I gotta say that in just a little way you are sounding a little jaded.... hmm. just maybe??? You said this just before "lets not give ourselves so much credit for doing what any idiot could have done! ". You are so right, any idiot could have done what has been done in our industry. The fact is though, most idiots wouldn't have done what we did because of the backlash form our communities that we faced. I wont cite all the cases of people in our industry being crushed because of what they do, so I will use my own life as an example. When that article came out in our home town in the major press, all my neighbours in my gated community went on the offensive. To such a point that I eventually had to remove my family to the other side of the world. Maybe if you think about it, you have to be an idiot to do what we do. But lets get back to the point of this post. Joe E. He was an indelible character within this industry, and he had the ability to touch people in a way that was just so special to him.Was he a god? No. Was he a pioneer? Probably not. Was he the best thing since sliced bread even? I don't think so. But was he a character worthy of remembering fondly to those he touched. Absolutely. If you want to start a Joe E bashing thread, be my guest. But as I see things, three of the local boys back home screwed me over big time and you know what. I would have a beer with them any day (of course I wouldn't do biz with them again). And the reason I would have that beer with them is because at the end of the day, we all belong to this klan of idiots. Props to you Joe E ![]() And a special hug to you CJ

Good reads in this thread. Joe E was a legend, no doubt about it. He may have went down on his own accord, but he went down fighting and most likely still is to this day.
