Hi lex, I do remember jayeff from the board. He really did seem like one of the more intelligent posters. I had no idea that he passed away, although I did notice I hadn't heard much from him. There are few personalities that I truly enjoy hearing from. Sadly, one of them has now passed.

Also, I would donate a bit but I don't have epass. Sorry. I will keep him in my thoughts, though. Good luck with getting this all sorted out.

No problem, Jayeff was one of the good guys.

This thread need to be made a sticky by one of the mods. Jayeff gave a lot to this board and the webmasters/sponsors community. We need to give something back.

hi c-lo, yeah jayeff's ramblings were always insightful and thought provocative. it was usually what he didn't actually say, but lead you to thinking that was most profound. a strong coffee with one of his threads was always a great way to start the day.

He was one of the veterans in the business and I liked him a lot.

Always very helpful and he always took time to explain everything. He posted his last comment on AWI in may and, as always, he was very polite and even said sorry for not checking up on things sooner despite the fact he was sick. He never mentioned anything about being sick in the years I knew him. He just kept helping me and the company whenever I had a question.

I will miss him a lot. He was a gentleman and a good guy who knew his stuff.

I do have Paypal, so if you'd like to post an address I can send a few bucks to, I'd be happy to help out. I might have to transfer some funds though...I haven't used my account in several months.

Thanks.

Jayeff quickly became one of my favorite posters here, always well-spoken and very inciteful no matter what the topic of discussion was. His posts were refreshingly chock full of common sense and of an intelligent, even tone, even in the face of rabid flaming. I admired him for that, his ability to remain calm was a rare thing but especially so on this board.

I miss his posts. Never did get to do business with him that I can recall, but definitely would have liked to.

RIP old friend.

Not to be sounding the drama alarm or anything, but can anyone confirm real quick that this was in fact jayeff's ePass account? Sorry, but when Stodghill is allegedly using Turboface's name to solicit donations in another thread you have to watch things everywhere.

that is quite possible Matt. though i haven't noticed any posts after that date (except those by Sheri) it is conceivable we could be off by 36hrs. Sheri did say to me she believed it happened between may 31 and june 2nd, but i deduced it was on the eve of may 31 as it is when i found the last logged entries he made on girlfile.com (notably on a task i could see he did not complete) and as John passed at his keyboard i had concluded that may well have been the last thing he worked on when he left us. Also Sheri mentioned that John had emailed her daughter every day for seven days ending on the 31st.

i think i found the posts to which you refer, Matt. ironically they're in a thread titled "how would you rate your life?"

my date stamps will be a little out of whack because i'm gmt+8 but yes, it appears you are correct.

Personal relationships are often initiated by hormones, need, circumstances, etc and then we complicate matters further by going through a kind of dance at first, presenting ourselves as we want to be perceived and seeing what we want to see. Later, when the real personalities confront each other, they can be very different. And of course people, especially young people, change. If anything, they are more likely to grow apart than closer together.

I was wondering how long it would take someone else to notice that.

lex- did you ever get the info about where his death notice/obit was published? I've been asking for 3 days. It's a very simple thing for this Sheri person to provide and it would clear up all issues regarding the date discrepancies. Since you seem to be the only one in contact with her, maybe you should concentrate on getting that info before you take any more donations. Just a thought.

And for the record, the reasons I was asking for it had nothing to do with him posting here two days after his death. I didn't notice that until I went back to read her last post. I have other reasons, none of which are worth going into if the guy has passed on.

Jayeff's passing

My name is Sheri, and I was with Jayeff for nearly 10 years. I'm told there is some suspicion as to whether he is truly gone. I would give nearly anything to be able to say it is untrue, but sadly, he died of a heart attack and we didn't find him for some time. We were unsure of the date he died, as the coroner could not determine it due to the...well...you understand.

He was cremated and spread in the garden of rest in Parsons, KS, where we lived. I am planting a rose and a plaque in his memory there, and would appreciate any thoughts on what the plaque should say. It seems that I learned more of him after his passing than I knew during our long time together, so it is only fitting that you, who knew him best, should eulogize him with a few words for his memorial.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I'm sure Jayeff is looking down and smiling that he was so loved here with you all.
Thank you as well for the generous donations you have made to help clear John's estate. He never would have wanted you to know his situation, but I am so grateful that you have all been so kind.

Thank you especially to Lex, without whom I would have been lost.

I have his PC, so if you have any questions, feel free to ICQ his ID and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Sincerely,

Sheri

Hi, Sheri. Let me tell you personally how sorry I am for your loss. Not everyone has doubted it, but self protection kicks in as soon as people think of donations and such. Please dont take it personally.

Having recently had a heart attack myself, let me just say that in the midst of it my thoughts were with my remaining family and friends. No doubt at all this was true for him as well. Be well and be good

This is Sheri. I'm sorry, there was no obituary in Parsons. It didn't even make the newspaper despite the circumstances. I didn't think an obit in Parsons was necessary, since nobody new him there. His family was on this board and others, and he eschewed public places and towards the end only went to town for groceries and such. John's father and brother in England took care of the arrangements since John and I never married and so, despite 10 years together, I had no legal right to sign for his cremation. His brother told me that they would send his ashes to England, but later said he was scattered in the garden of rest in Parsons. If there was an obituary in England, I don't know about it. Perhaps we could search the net for English Obits?

As I said before, I and so many of you would give anything to change the awful truth. But the truth is final.

Whoever posted that post from Jayeff on the day he died, thank you. I never would have seen it otherwise, and although it made me cry, it was beautiful nonetheless.

He deserved an Obit either way, regardless of who knew him or from where. Can you contact his brother or father and see if they had one published for him? Such a simple thing to do but important enough to have done in an example like this where people have grown to be skeptical, and with good reason unfortunately.

lex- did you ever get the info about where his death notice/obit was published? I've been asking for 3 days. It's a very simple thing for this Sheri person to provide and it would clear up all issues regarding the date discrepancies. Since you seem to be the only one in contact with her, maybe you should concentrate on getting that info before you take any more donations. Just a thought.

And for the record, the reasons I was asking for it had nothing to do with him posting here two days after his death. I didn't notice that until I went back to read her last post. I have other reasons, none of which are worth going into if the guy has passed on.
Holly - I can assure you that the epass account is/was John's - it's the one I used to pay him for work he did for me. I can also confirm that the woman whom he called his wife was named Sheri. **I have all my ICQ chat history** I knew of his financial situation because we discussed those issues many times & how extra work kept him sane but did nothing to help him financially because the med costs by the month of february had doubled due to tests he needed.

Anal Hobbit - you said he sounds familiar - some of you gallery submitters from back from 1999-2003, he owned StiffyTGP.com which was pretty big at the time.

i know how you feel Brujah, but i'm not sure it really matters. John's peers were here online and far more detailed information and sentiment has been expressed on the boards than could ever be done in a newspaper obit. i'm sure Sheri will encourage his family to write an obit anyhow as she has been in contact with jayeff's father - she's actually sent him a collection of some of the posts from here and over at damagex's forum.

as for the skeptics, i personally couldn't care less about them as i know that not a single soul who mattered a damn to jayeff has had any doubts about his passing, or the info that Sheri and i have shared with them. and if they did have any doubts they must have had enough class to do their homework and verify the information that has been shared instead of soiling the sentiment of this otherwise beautiful and heart-felt thread.
