going to court today

so I got a speeding ticket in march that I set for a trial. sitting in the courtroom waiting for the trial to start, the bailiff called me over. he handed me a dismissal notice. WTF? right. so I give it to the lawyer, he checks with the bailiff, twice. so I split. then I get the conviction in the mail. so as soon as I left with the dismissal notice, they convected me. what a fucking mess. so I'm on the way back. this should be very interesting don't ya think? double jeopardy? bmb

That's the court system always looking for loopholes to screw us out of our hard earned cash.

That sounds like a clerical error in your favor. Would like to know what they do to resolve it.

Yeah, I can understand cleaner and smaller dockets, but that rarely influences decisions.

The reason I asked was because of an issue I had in the Fresno County Court and man, the first judge I saw was one of those kill 'em all, let God sort them out types.

the arraignment judge is a real struggle, didn't see the other judge yet because of the dismissal. taking a lawyer, that'll help some. saw lots of cops decline to testify yesterday. they don't want to risk perjury if they don't remember. I think the cop I got stuck with is filled with 'hell fire' I'll find out 10/2

everybody should take every ticket to court is my opinion, I do.

of course it is? do you drive a car and have insurance in the US? not sure how it works outside the US, here it's over 1k for one ticket per year, not sure what 2 tickets will do. won't be pretty and on a performance car it will be real ugly.

I find it very interesting that not once have you proclaimed your innocence of these traffic offenses, just that you want to avoid paying for the crimes you committed. What the fuck is wrong with people in this country??? You broke the law and you got caught...pay the fucking ticket and be glad they let you continue to operate a motor vehicle.

I did plead not guilty. of course I wasn't speeding that's why there is a day in court. you're confused. why do you think I'm driving 50 miles and going to court every few days to straighten this out? you think I'm bored? do you think it's okay to trick a guy into leaving the room and then convicting him with out a trial when he specifically asked for one. that work for you dipshit? apparently you're whats wrong with people in this country.

Iīm not living in the US and itīs totally different here, so I wasnīt sure if I got it right. Insurance here has different prices depending on the type of car, the area where you are living at. For both there is a statistic of accidents for each type of car and area which leads to the insurance fee.

Iīm always interested in other countries solutions, thatīs why I asked.

Nothing is wrong with people for taking advantage of a wacky system, hell the government does it to us all the time, any chance they can get... They sit up at night and dream of ways of MAKING A SYSTEM to fuck us over..

I do agree though, why it's okay to deny you did anything every single time you get caught by police is ridiculous. Here in Toronto if the police officer who stopped you can't or didn't show up to court with you, then you get off free and clear like nothing happened, even if you racked up 4-5 tickets in a single stop.

Seems like a waste and abuse of our legal system. I think you should only be able to challenge something like that if you have a real case to present, where the police clearly did something wrong or whatever. And if you're found with no case, there should be a fine for wasting the courts time.

I mean it's to the point where you're a complete fumbling idiot to ever plead guilty to a traffic offense. Is that right?

So the rates are not effected by how many tickets or wrecks you have, just the kind of car you drive?

Perhaps you should just avoid breaking the law in the first place and you wouldn't have to put up with legal snafus like this. Perhaps our court systems are overstressed because some people try to get out of every ticket they rightfully receive so as not to be 'burdened' with paying higher insurance premiums. You openly admit that you believe everyone should waste the court's time, then cry like a baby when the court wastes yours. Pathetic.

Straight from the horse's mouth.....

Basically yes. But you get discounts - I think itīs no claims bonus - for every year without a car accident from your insurance company. If you have an accident in a year, your insurance rate for the next year gets less discount. There are fixed rates which apply for every insurance company.

Starting at 175% for persons with fresh driving licences, you pay 25% only if you didnīt have an accident for 25 years.

The system works independent of tickets.
