Why do drivers license pics always come out looking like shit??

Can't they afford some decent quality camera gear and lighting at the DMV? A booth type setup would probably work better. I renewed my license pic a few days ago and it looks like crap. They shine this bright high beam light on your face that drowns out all your facial features. I renewed my Passport picture at some corner store photo place and it looks a million times better.. the guy just took it with a regular camera too. |

My passport photo makes my license photo look amazing. I'm surprised I'm even allowed into countries after they see my passport photo.

in UK you have to have a neutral look while taking the id pic... otherwise you might get some problems with law...
