From the story:
The Arizona Department of Public safety is trying to determine the validity of a video showing a man driving more than 200 miles per hour in a Lamborghini on the Loop 202.

The video, which has been making rounds on the internet, claims the man reached a top speed of 219 miles per hour.

The video has appeared on both individual websites and on the popular video sharing site, YouTube.com.

In it, the Lamborghini appears to pass other vehicles on the freeway at the high rate of speed. The driver also appears to make a contest out of it all.

DPS has confirmed there’s a criminal investigation underway to determine the authenticity of the video.

The speeding appears to be happening on the San Tan Freeway portion of the Loop 202 in the Southeast Valley.

It's unclear when the video was shot.

Stay with ABC15.com for updates.

I'm not in any way condoning what Rob did. But for god sakes! We have all done something fucking stupid in our lives. Some of us more than others, but we all have nonetheless. I have to say that in the scope of things, after watching the video. I really do not think it was enough to make Rob out as Adolf Hitler. The guy had a lapse of judgment and did something that wasn't too smart, but probably fun as hell. He doesn't deserve to be executed!

You never took a risk and later said "what the fuck was I thinking? I could have killed someone?" if you say no, then you are just a plain old liar. Look, the guy fucked up...give him a break.

And Lia was just posting it to get some hits to her site, so don't hate on her or expect her to answer for Rob in an intelligent manner. It was a stupid thing, and I'm sure he regrets it. NOBODY got hurt!

Give a guy a break once in a while for Christ sakes! Now go read a fucking book or at least watch TV. If this incident is the highlight of your day, you have no fucking life.

Now, I may be way off here, and shred me if you must, but that's my two cents.
Like most GFY threads, which you should be use to by now... No one is making him out to be Hitler. Actually most posts are replies to other idiots making posts in this thread. You know like some idiot says " whats the big deal we speed on the AutoBahn" and that spins off a 30 post discussion.

I think you are over reacting with the " he shouldn't be executed " and " made out to be hitler" comments. If you read back through the thread and actually read the posts you will see most people said the same thing you did, it was stupid, bad judgement on his part, it was reckless, what an idiot for taping it and posting it to the net etc... I think that is hardly making the guy out to be Hitler. Last i checked Hitler killed millions of people, Rob just drove a car 200+ mph. All the rest of the posts were people arguing amongest themselves.

and what makes you think so? Just enough bravery is needed, driving like this in straight line is fairly easy in such a car, the car is 100% stable and easy to drive, even no clutch. Wrong. There can be many reasons why, but you completely miss the point. Mini-van with 4 children, an old guy in a pick-up truck, a stripper going home after a hard nights work, it is all the same.

If speeding is a felony in Arizona ......... (is it?, reckless driving)

The car will be seized. Period. The fact that the "crime" was deliberate, and on going won't help.

You can't explain this to Maddox the idiot. his response is they do it on the autobahn and people should look in their rear mirrors.

On the autobahn people know there is no speed limit so the people going slower are aware and cautious. On an interstate were the speed limit is 65 mph no one is expecting someone else to be driving 200+ mph. When they look in their mirror and they barely see headlights in the distance they will not react to it thinking that person is 5 mins behind them not 5 seconds.

but you (maddox) are to thick in the fucking head to understand this.

I don't know about that. I am not versed in AZ law but even on a felony Reckless endangerment charge, I don't think the state can seize a vehicle.

vehicle seizures usually take place due to drug busts and thats a special and specific piece of legislation that allows that.

Hell, even in a vehicular homicide case, the defendant gets the car back unless it's his second DWI (DUI) ...at least here in NY, as far as I know.

It also doesnt help that he was making the video to promote his site (make money), and says in the video " see if you can beat that" or something to that affect. Encouraging people to go out and do it and trying to use it for self promotion are the things that probably have the cops interested. if he would have just made a video it got posted to youtube and there was no site behind it or way to track the person down i bet nothing would have ever been done about it.

oh shit...making news all over:
http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/102919

-----------
Officials are investigating a YouTube.com video that appears to show an unknown man driving a Lamborghini Murcielago about 219 mph on Loop 202.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Harold Sanders would not comment on the video, which he called an "alleged extreme violation of the posted speed limit," in a statement to the media.

The video shows the gold car making three attempts to beat what a narrator calls the car?s former top speed of 171 mph. In the first run, the engine roars, but only reaches 211 mph.

The Lamborghini then takes a rest and goes for another race, but is apparently slowed down by another driver.

"Could?ve gone even more if it wasn?t for this car in front of us," a voice says.

Based on passing signs in the background, it appears the car is traveling in east Mesa near Ellsworth Road on the Santan stretch of Loop 202.

Ros De Giaxa, sales manager at Motorsports of Scottsdale, the only licensed Lamborghini dealership in the state, said the manufacturer of the car lists its top speed at 205 mph, but it?s quite possible the car could travel faster.

"They are built for speed," De Giaxa said. "They have all-wheel drive, 12 cylinders, 640 horsepower ... which is more than a Ferrari."

De Giaxa said there are about 350 Lamborghinis in Arizona, with more being purchased every day. He said Motorsports of Scottsdale is Arizona's only authorized service center for the car.

He said Lamborghini technicians have equipment that can show how fast the car has been driven.

"Everyone who has a warranty has to come to us," he added.

De Giaxa confirmed he had watched the video, but declined to comment if he knows who owns the car, citing a customer privacy protection policy.

The video doesn?t show the drivers? face, and only his voice can be heard at the end of the video when he introduces himself and challenges someone to beat his alleged record speed.

Ray, Cars are also taken from "john's" looking for 20 dollar blowjobs. If the vehicle is continually used in the commission of a crime, and is in fact the only reason the crime can be committed it will be seized.

Right or wrong the justification is there to take it. Property in a seizure becomes it's own entity and it's guilt or innocence is not tied to the human being charged. The state attorneys will make it to expensive to even attempt to recover.

It was also pretty safe, this car is very stable at those speeds you can easily take your hands off the steering wheel and nothing will happen, the front suspension is made this way so that the car goes always straight and you almost cannot change the direction without steering wheel. Other drivers, well they can hit you in Germany too if they are stupid enough to not look in the rear mirror.
Honestly, WTF is your problem....??

This 219 MPH fiasco did not happen in Germany. It happened in Arizona, USA where the legal speed limit is between 65 and 75 MPH depending on the population and controlled access. Not 219; ever!

As for your statement: "it's the same damn road and a lot less cars."

Let me start with: BAAAHAHAHAHAHAH

Now on tot the facts:

If you do a little research you will find that the "autobahn" is actually unlike any US highway. It is smoother, thicker and wider. In fact the autobahn was specifically designed with a 3 degree camber in the flats to disburse rainwater and a steeper than normal angle in curves to allow for tracking.

In short you are an idiot and the autobahn is designed more like a racetrack.. which is where this entire let's=drive-219 deal should have begin and ended.

There was a 3 1/2 year window in Montana where speed limits were defined as *reasonable and prudent*. The freeways there were built exactly the same as every freeway in the US.

My experiences with the Autobahn are that people there are trained to drive differently. They don't drink coffee and talk on phones. They drive in the right and pass on the left.

The roads in Germany are not that much better than the US system.

that kind of kills the argument " the tape has been edited, it can't be credible, they can't go off the tape, etc etc." All they have to do is get a subpoena which t hey could get from the video and bring the car into the dealership to verify how fast it has been driven. Doesn't matter if the orginal tape has been destroyed etc... At this point if i was him I would destroy the car, you have to get rid of all the evidence

I wish it were like this. We have many people here that change lanes without checking if there's a faster car on the left lane approaching. Then we have people that even change lanes on purpose to slow you down and of course the people that think they own the left lane. I'm happy that my car has very good brakes

No doubt the autobahn is far from perfect and is getting more congested yearly. But a bad day on the autobahn is still far better than a great day on American freeways.

Check out this comment someone made to the news story ( I edited the post not to show the info), I don't want to be responsible for posting personal shit, but this guy who made the comment actually posted the address and phone numbers.

I found out who both of these guys "Robert and Aaron" are.
I wonder if the DPS was able to find out as well?
If not then here you go DPS.
Give me a job as a cyber detective. :D

Robert SXXXXX
10607 XXXX st
Phoenix, AZ 85020
Phone: 480-XXX-XXXX

Aaron BXXXXX
4410 X. XXXXX Lane
Phoenix, Arizona 85028
602-XXX-XXXX

Now that everyone knows who you are the police just have to apprehend you. I hope they make an example out of you.
Now, how the hell did he get that from the video???

You need to get out more. I have driven on highways that I can go an hour and see as many people as Rob did in that 5 minute video.

Doesn't matter if the orginal tape has been destroyed etc... At this point if i was him I would destroy the car, you have to get rid of all the evidence
Will it show where it was driven while at that speed?

I have plenty of roads that I drive that I never see a car on. The interstates are what I am talking about. Driving them are nothing but a pain in the ass.
The only issues on the county roads are that occasional John Deere that pulls out of a field.

The perfect place for him to find his top end would have been the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. I think they hold an annual event where you can bring just about any vehicle and run it down the track. He could have got an exact time and speed using their equipment and best of all it would have been done as safely as possible.

I don't think he had ads or made revenue from his 205mph site. It was just a bunch of videos of him and his buddy's reaching insane speeds in their cars. Sort of a bragging rights thing, IMO.

Try UT, WY, SD . . . . lots of open Highway, no tractors.

The little news dweeb is loving this story and just wait until he finds out more. Fast cars, sex, money ... this is prime news fodder.

And I have been on the Interstate in UT and CO for sure where traffic was pretty non-existent.
