Anyone have an espresso maker like this one?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...047919-2624859

I currently have a really cheap one, (similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Coffee-ECM2...058786&sr=1-12 but much more cheaply made) and it doesn't make espresso anywhere near as good as what I get from the local coffee places.

I don't really know alot about what goes into making good espresso, so I thought I'd ask here....I'm sure I'm not the only webmaster here with a wicked caffienne addiction.

haha, glad I clicked that link. Yes, I believe I still have one like that. I would say that it is good for use when camping, but not for someone that is into quality.

well, first of all use the good stuff when you make espresso - I use illy espresso, it's my favorite by far.

I have a Francis Francis that was nearly a grand, but I use it every day. Also you can basically disassemble the whole thing for cleaning.

Also get an attachment for the espresso pods (illy makes them too), they are really easy, no mess and taste just as good.

As long as yours is well pressurized it should make the same espresso as you get at a local place unless you don't know how to use it. It really isn't a rocket science. I make awesome cafe-con-leche with a cheapo one.

Maybe that would work better for me.

With the cheap one I have consistency issues, either too strong to too weak and the flavor isn't the same, even though I'm buying the exact same espresso that the coffee shop uses.

Yep, I have one of those and if you don't burn the coffee it actually comes out great.

But you have to learn the exact time you have to leave it on the oven.

Well I buy the beans from either starbucks or PJ's, and it's the same stuff they use when I buy a latte there....but when I make it at home it doesn't taste the same.

Of course I could be using too much or not enough water or whatever....fuck if I know.

That's why I was thinking the little pot might work better for me because the measurements would have to be exact.

I keep thinking of picking up a nice one, but then I figure I'll just get hooked on it. And that wouldn't be good!
