The Phone Call You're Never Prepared To Receive...

My buddy Brent took his life today...

good guy, sweet soul, beautiful heart... it doesn't make sense.

He's the type of guy I could have been anywhere with and felt 100% safe ~ but he couldn't see past his own fears, and it killed him.

I was just thinking about him a few days ago, was gonna call and didn't... it's amazing how things change so quickly. I wish I could have said goodbye.

R.I.P. Brent L.

don't blame him - suicide is a mental disorder and should be looked on as someone who was sick and didn't recieve medical help in time.

Sorry for your loss.

Live for those who cannot.

Have strength for those who have not.

Pray for those whom give you joy, and cherish what their love has taught.

Sad news. I feel sorry for you, 6 month ago my best friend tried to take his own life, by pure luck he was found in the appartment minutes before it was to late. I have been feeling very strange ever since. I just don´t understand what can make people do such crazy things.

No walls.

I'd spill my blood before being locked up.

hell no.

The thought of it triggers an anxiety and panic that burns.

Never.

I think I could do 1 to 5 pretty easy. But not if it is super max. I already sit in a office 18 hours a day, and then sleep the other 6. Its not much of a stretch. I could get more reading done.

My condolences, Cheshire, but at least he's at peace until the next reincarnation...

One of my saddest poems ever written years ago was...

Suicide

Suicidal tendacies
Underline my thoughts.
I may have been crazy
'Cause I wouldn't fight.
I'm so tired of living,
Death looks so right.
Even now I'm dying...

sorry to hear it Cheshire.

however, I am with Labret. Taking your own life without just cause is pretty weak.

I'd consider suicide if my outlook was beyond hopeless. IE - you are gonna die a long, slow horrible death from a disease with no cure...

Shit, its cause we are a society of weak pussies.

Our grandparents were refugies living in pits and work camps, married at 14, fighting wars at 16. Working HARD until you fucking die.

Some yuppy doesnt get cream on his frappachino or doesnt get his raise at work... bang bang. Our high rates of suicide only prove we are a bunch of weak little bitches.

sometimes the reason people commit suicide isn't always because they're "weak". psychologically some will take their life and be totally content and happy with the decision. shit, some geniuses have taken their life. so rather than concluding that a person is weak for killing themselves, try to keep in mind the other possibilities.

-- in time life will get better - the confusion will subside and acceptance will emerge.

look at the stats on pioneers - suicide happened in even higher percentage numbers with them then it does today.

Was he a great guy? ---------------------------------------------Yeah!

Was he fun to be around? ---------------------------------------Yeah!

Could you depend on him in rough times?---------------------Yeah!

Do you know what happens to people when they die?-------NO!

Stop feeling bad for him. For all we know he could be in pure bliss right now. From the way it sounds, damnation w/eternal fire and an extra helping of brimstone was not his calling. (if you believe in that sort of thing.)

If you keep things in perspective, to be sad and mournful is a little selfish right now.

If he told you he was leaving and could never talk to any of his friends again because Hugh Hefner adopted him and gave him the master bedroom in the Playboy Mansion would you be as sad?

Wherever he is I am willing to bet it's nicer than that.

How can you be sad about that?

This is the third call of this type I've received.

First was my best friend from middle school, second was my best friend of eight years' father... It's so surreal.

Whatever the personal reason for someone to do this, whatever the events that led up to it... it's so unnecesary, so disappointing, so permanent...

All I can do is think of how sad he must have been, and be sad myself ~ that he didn't realize how amazing he was... is...

Sorry to hear that

I know the feeling all to well

My best friend also took his life this weekend. Its pretty hard because He was just at my place, the couch still has the blankets and pillows on it. I almost wish I made him stay a few more days.
