Ccbill programs. Do you do a cancel discount?
So in ccbill you can setup an offer for when a customer goes to the cancel page, so instead of canceling they have the option to continue on at a discounted rate. Like if you are 29.95 you can offer say 12.00 off to stay a member.
Anyone doing this, and if so does it help change the mind of your canceling members? Also is this an issue with Affiliates? When the affiliate sees a rebill at a lower price do they get pissed, or will they know that the member was about to cancel, so some money is better than none? Discuss. |

We do for most of our sites. I mean you're still making something as opposed to nothing. But I've gotten static from affiliates before about having the discount be too great (from $25/mo to $10/mo).

Doing a 12.00 discount if they stick around, so from 29 to 17. See how it goes. I figure worth a shot since otherwise would be 0 dollars.

We do a $10.95 discount on a $24.95 rebill quite successfully.

10% of the cancelling members take this discount and they remain members for a long time. It pays!

of course - why wouldn't you try to hang on to a member that is in the act of cancelling? Affiliates should be pissed at programs that don't offer it - 10 bucks is better than no bucks.

Good feedback. Hoping it grabs some exiting members.
Since Chio brought it up, whats the norm for loyalty discounts, like 3 months, and maybe 10.00 reduced price? |

Depends...to me, operating well-known sites in a small niche, it doesn't make sense. There are lots of niche messageboards and other places for the word to "get around" that you can get a deal if you try to cancel --- and I think I'd have a lot of long-time members cancelling, then rejoining just to get the cheaper rate, when otherwise they would just have kept their membership recurring at the full rate.
If I was running sites in more competitive niches and felt that most people would never think of rejoining on their own, or would never come across my sites again, I'd be much more likely to implement a cancel discount. |
