Democrats keep shooting themselves in the foot!!!!

You have to love Geraldine Ferraro who is on Clinton's finance committee and has held a fundraiser for Clinton.....

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," she continued. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Open mouth - insert foot.

She's speaking the truth. I'm not sure why people get mad when the TRUTH is told. Anyone denying it's not the truth is the idiot. Obama is just resaying what John Edwards had been saying FIRST. Edwards is white and didn't get anywhere. Hmmmmm. Funny how that works.

The reality is that there is not much difference policy wise between Edwards, Clinton and Obama. While Obama may get some free publicity from the fact that he is black the reality is he is just more charming, charismatic and a much better speaker then Edwards. Edwards comes off like a used car salesman, Obama like a motivational speaker. If everything about him was the same except he were white, he would still be doing very well.

If he were white Hillary wold be running away with the nomiation. If being white means he's only doing very well instead of what he is doing now since he barely leads clinton as is.

We don't know that for sure. You can speculate anything you want, but we can't say that with 100% certainty. If I were 7 foot tall, I could be an NBA center, doesn't mean I would be. It amazes me how so many people would say how being black will hurt Obama because white people won't vote for a black guy and now they are saying that the only reason he is winning is because he is black.

Doesnt matter what color or sex any of these people are. They wont fix a damn thing. Maybe we should concern ourselves with our economy and not the color of someone skins or what is between their legs. We are fucked no matter what. Seriously these are our fucking choices? Obama, Clinton and McCain?

I can say if he was white he would NOT be getting 91% opf the black vote in this primary. He would NOT have gotten over 80% of the black vote in SC primary. FACT.

I'll tell you what in my state primary Edwards got more votes than Obama and he was already out of the race. And in my county a republican has never been elected to any kind of office ever.

If he were white, maybe he wouldn't have have gotten that many black votes - I will concede that point. But how fewer would he have gotten? On CNN they were talking about how during the primaries when Bill Clinton ran he won 80%+ of the black vote in some states. So we can't know for sure how much less he would have gotten. Maybe a little maybe a lot.

Also the thing about your state giving more votes to Edwards than Obama even when Edwards was out of the race really is irrelevant to this conversation. There are always going to be places that back certain candidates or shy away from certain candidates and it doesn't matter what you say or do. But I wonder what state is that? According to CNN Edwards dropped out on Jan 30th. In every primary held since then he has finished 3rd or 4th and Obama has finished 2nd or 1st. The math doesn't add up if your state gave Edwards more votes than Obama, he should have at least finished 2nd but that hasn't happened.

It's not just because he's black. It's a combination that he's black (or multi-racial), well-spoken, and has the same agenda as other Democrats. People didn't vote in large numbers for Alan Keyes and Jesse Jackson when they ran, and they were black. So it's more than just that.

Haha, it's amazing the stupid things people say in politics and what's even funnier is what the campaign tries to twist it into when they tell the press what the person 'meant' to say.

But the divide in the Democratic party along gender and ethnic lines doesn't bode well for whoever becomes the nominee. McCain couldn't ask for more.

Nah, it is just election politics. Once the nominee is chosen everyone will rally behind them. I think McCain is in trouble no matter who he goes against and with the democrats still fighting it out they are in the news every day while he sits on the back burner and waits

Few weeks back I saw some news report where the guys where asking black people on the street if they were voting for Obama and why... Most if not all of them said it was because he was black...

We all know that the masses vote based on stupid things like the color of a persons skin, that a person gives a great speech, cause the person "appears" to be more like them, goes hunting, appears very religious, was in the military, or simply because it's their party... I suspect that if there was ever a study done, they'd find that a very small percentage of people actually vote on the issues and a real belief that someone will do the best job.

Were you even alive in 1984? jesse jackson got quite large number of votes. I believe he came in 3rd behind Mondale and Hart. Got more support than John Glenn.

"Jackson ended up winning 21% of the national primary vote"

which is why our country is run by idiots. I think Franklin said "We get the government that we deserve". Maybe he was right. WellI don't deserve it since I'm not a tard.

I think people should have to take both an IQ test and a test to see where the candidates stand on the issues before they are allowed to vote. If you won't even take the time to see where the fuck someone stands on the issues then why should you be allowed in the voting booth?

I agree, but look at the other side of the coin. Did you see any candidate in any party that you could say was someone you really thought would be a great president? Often we get shit because we have to choose between which shit smells worst.

well, look at the elections in the past. In 2000 Bush tore McCain apart. There were a lot of people that really liked McCain, thought that was his time and felt that Bush was completely disrespectful and out of line for doing what he did. But when Bush won the nomination the party rallied around him and all was forgiven. That is just how it is. They always rip into each other then as soon as they jump out they have nothing but good things to say about them.

In reality about 25% of the country is going to vote democrat no matter who the candidate is or what they say and about 25% will do the same for the republicans. These are people who's votes will be unaffected by whatever the candidates will say about each other. For the remaining 50% I think it comes down what they say then and how they perform in the last few months of the campaign and very few people will even remember what is being said today or next week or last month.

Do you really believe that the people are going to remember what Bush did to McCain? Hell, the people on GFY can't remember who screwed them 6 months ago.

I would venture to say that a huge number of Democrats will support Clinton or Obama, but a minority will accept whatever they end up with.

I know many that have said I will vote for him but not her; or her but not him. You find that here as well. Look at pussyserver for example. Lenny for another.

The Republicans aren't going to vote for either of them. And just because they are not going out in the cold to vote in a predetermined primary does not mean they will not vote in the GE just to insure they do not end up with a woman or a black man in the White House.

Hillary was always a joke, and Obama should have waited 8 years.

So then you thought my lack of intellect in that past post was that I thought McCain is in trouble no matter who he faces?

I actually believe that. I think, in the end, he would probably beat Hillary, but it would be very close and I think he loses to Obama and I think by winning his primary so fast he might be getting a little comfortable and I think he is in for a much bigger fight then he may think.

I think there are about 10 states that were very close and went to Bush in the last election that could go either way, especially if McCain fails to get the full support of the religous right. Those states alone could make it a very close, interesting election.

That was a minor part of it. The suggestion that "Once the nominee is chosen everyone will rally behind them" was pure comedy IMHO.

Not going to happen. While the Republicans may be against either Clinton or Obama, there is no way you are going to convince me that all the Clinton supporters are going to jump to Obama or vice-versa. Not even a majority will settle for one or the other.

I guess I didn't explain myself fully. I don't know about the voters, but the party, meaning the party leaders, rally behind the nominee. I do think that there are some voters that will be alienated, but I have no idea how many that would be and I have a feeling that the number would eventually be fairly small. You said yourself people can't remember what one person said about another 3 months ago. If there are hardcore Hillary supporters out there that don't like Obama and he gets the nomination at first they will be mad, but they will get over it, forget half the reasons they hate Obama and in November many of them will end up voting for Obama simply because they don't like McCain.

The same can be said for the other site. There are hardcore Huckabee supporters that don't like McCain, but if he ends up against Hillary, they may support the party and vote for McCain just because they hate Hillary. That is actually one of the reasons I think McCain would beat Hillary. The far religious right doesn't like McCain and their leaders have said they will not support him, but they hate the Clintons so they might just support him out of spite for the Clintons. I don't know that they will support him if he up against Obama and that could hurt him.

If you mean party leaders, of course they will support the nominee, but that isn't what counts.

As far as the voters are concerned, you must be realistic, there are a lot of people that will or will not vote for someone based on race and/or gender.

It will be pretty difficult for them to forget that he is black or the she is a female.

Those voting based on the issues . . . well, they are probably in the minority anyway.

MSNBC exit polls of Mississippi Democratic voters produced some interesting results:

If Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee, should she pick Barack Obama as her vice presidential running mate?
% Yes
Clinton Voters - 26%
Obama Voters - 74%

Only 26% of Clinton voters think Clinton should pick Obama as VP while 74% of Obama voters do

If Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee, should he pick Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential running mate?
% Yes
Clinton Voters - 35%
Obama Voters - 64%

64% of Obama voters think Obama should pick Clinton as VP while only 35% of Clinton voters do

Obama voters seem to like Clinton much more than Clinton voters like Obama.

I'm starting to think the Republicans may stay in the White House. A year ago I would not have thought that was possible.

all he has to do is sit back and smile while hillary implodes. the more she talks.. the less people like her. that woman is just a lunatic.

All your base are belong to Obama.

The same people who complain that Barrack Obama is getting votes due only to his skin color are the same people who would not vote for him due only to his skin color. But why would it matter if that IS the reason? Most people vote based upon how they feel about a person, without knowing much of what they stand for or plan to do anyway. Look at all the people who voted for Bush because he seemed like the kind of guy you could sit and drink beer with. Oh yeah, that's an enlightened manner of voting. Appalachia, here we come!

Obama is a fucking Novice, he not even a 1 time senator.

It is pretty clear to me that most of my fellow Americans are fucking brain dead. Obama is a sham and phony.

Not because he is black, race got nothing to do with it.
He has ZERO experience.

Wrong. A good number of them that are saying he is only getting votes because of his color are not voting for him because of his lack of experience.

I will admit it. I will not vote for him. Not because he is black, but because he has no experience. That is why I have said over and over, he should have done like he originally planned and waited 8 years.

Another thing to add to Obama and his whole campaign is based on "Change" in America.

Yet he puts nothing on the table to exactly what this "Change" is.
Obama has no fucking idea what he will change. I not heard what he wants to change, I not heard of any long time plan of his that is "Change" related, I hear nothing about any of it, yet the dumb fuck leads in the poll's its fucking pathetic.
Not a god damn clue has this man got about the first 100 days.

Hillary knows where all the dirt shit deals the republicans got burried everywhere, she knows what to remove, fight and change and every time she says what she gonan do Obama stands thiere and says yeah thats what I will do!

You left the rest of the sentence out "but received only 8% of the delegates to the national convention."

lol, yeah as if he ever had a chance.

So, what's the story on Alan Keyes?

On a golden platter? Not sure how you can feel that is true. Did you not see the all time historic lows of the current republican president and how the voters threw the republicans out on their asses in the last congressional election. Sure the democrats have sucked, but there is still very much an anti-republican feel in much of the country.

hahaha POT KETTLE BLACK - Geraldine Ferraro got the VP nomination because she was a woman - had she been a man - white, black or green - she was a nobody, she'd have never been considered without a vagina. And Hillary Clinton - she's even worse - she'd have never been anything but a crooked lawyer if not for her husband's political accomplishments and positions.

Democrats are so retarded it's actually very sad because the Republicans have no competition for the White House.
