Anyone else have ghosts?

The other night I got up to take a piss, and then I laid back down in bed. All of a sudden I started hearing this erratic loud tapping coming from this little table in my room, like someone was tapping it with a pencil. I got up and turned the light on, and walked towards it. As I walked towards it, the tapping got louder and louder, and more erratic. I stopped, staring at it, and then was about to reach out to touch it, and then a loud CLANK happened, and the tapping stopped.

And today a music box in the other room started playing on its own. And I know no one has touched it in many months.

Does anyone else have weird shit happen in their house?

you just made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I actually grew up in a house that had a resident ghost... I went back to the house after my family had moved away for a while, and it even 'looks' haunted. creepy.

lol, I dont believe in ghost, because if they did, my childhood house would have had one.

The people living there before us was a couple and their son.

The son killed his mom with a pair of scisors in the house.

Thats why my parents got the house for pretty cheap. Nobody wanted to live there.

But, disapointingly, nothing weird ever happened. Except for taping in the heating system and cracky floors

;)

i see dead people

seriously, i do

haven't had a house that i lived in that didn't have at least one resident ghost

it's not a matter of if they exist in your home or not, it's all about if you're able to see the spiritual world

My Mother husband (my father died 27 years ago) died 1 year ago.. we dident get along at all... no fighting, just a mutual agreament to begave nice. Since i was a small boy i learned to know what he was thinking, before he said anything, think it was to please him or maby avoid a fight. I knew when i wanted coffe, before he said anything. I knew when he wanted me to get the dogs inside before he said anything.. I REALLY could guess it - no shit

Well.. before he died i gave up one of my cidneys to try and save his life - but he died anyhow. At night, and when im alone, it feel him, and can smell his body in the new building i just added to my house.... I think it is because i gave him the cidney.. maby he wants to thank me after all these years of not getting along.

sometimes i am so sure of his presence im affraid to look avay from the monitor, because im sure i would be able to see him.. ore are afraid to se him-- dont know....

But the answer is YES... I Belive you, and I think you only first belive in ghosts when you have had a "experiance" with it

well, when we first moved in he would simply 'be' in my sister's room and she would hear breathing and feel his presence, so my mom told him to leave her alone and he moved down to the office, which was also the way to the garage. I used to see him running down the hall away from me towards the office all the time... just his lower half, jeans and work boots. We had a small fire in the garage once and my mom is convinced that he started it. I used to get so scared when I'd see him running down the hall, too. ugh.

So it looked like just jeans with no torso?

I'm convinced we had a ghost in an old house of ours....

Weird things would happen all the time, things would be moved from where we knew we put them (stuff that never changed spots), tapping sounds, and the like....

I wasn't convinced though until my mom and I came home one day (we lived alone), opened the back door, and had a crockpot come flying across the room shattering at our feet!

creeeeepy....

I haven't been here in awhile but couldn't resist replying to this thread, I always wondered if other people had resident ghosts too.

I believe in ghosts and have had a "resident" as well. In the house I grew up in, the TV would be on when we came home, or just turn on if my mom and I were in the kitchen cooking. Also at night time I would hear a noise coming from her bedroom door knob, like somebody was constantly turning it half way but never opening the door. I would walk down the hallway get really close to the door and reach out to touch it and it would stop right away. Creepy shit but I was never too scared, nothing bad happened in the house when we lived there. But, my friends said some old lady died in that house, but I never believed them.

Well,

hehehe, the true geek in me comes out.

I am a ghost hunter, I actively seek them out, trying to record their actions via camera or evp recordings.

It's fun, I have been to some cool places, and seen some freaky stuff happen.

But it has also opened us up to be a "ghost magnet". We have 3 resident spirits living with us.

One who sits behind me late at night while I work, and just watches what I do, another is a little child, they other, the other, rarely comes around, but she protects the youngest.

I don't live in an old house, in fact, I live in a 2 year old townhouse.

I know the man is around when I smell the cigarette smoke (No one here smokes, not even the neighbors), I know the child is around, as my daughter has seen her, and we get a lot of things moved around.

I know the lady is around due to the smell of an old rose type perfume, which we have none in the house.

I sense the man at night, my kids are afraid of him, there are days my daughter won't go down to our basement and their playroom because, the mean man downstairs frightens her.

The child has actually attacked me, scratching me, as I was yelling at my daughter, and the old lady has whispered my name at night.

All this leads up to some serious fun.

Anyways, for those of you truly interested in ghosts, check out

OK now this is REALLY starting to get scary

Just kidding. Sounds cool. Where can my friends and I go to see some solo ghost action? (couples would be fine too)

Cemetaries are a good way to get some ghost action. But you need to be respectful. They live there, construe it as their home.

You will get a lot of activity if you let them know you are there to look, and not hurt anything.

The older the cemetary the better the haunting I think.

Check out the Ghost Web, they have some great ideas that will get you started.

Also, there are malicous ghosts out there. We have only experienced it once, in a cemetary, he/they did want us there, and kept setting our car alarm off, letting us know that.

I used to love watching that show where they would go into known haunted houses with camcorders and do measurements.... The show used to be on Saturday nights and I would watch it and get super freaked out! Alright I'm a pussy, I know, I know!

I have not seen any ghosts but I sure have felt several times that I was in the presence of them....

My TV used to turn itself on all the time. I think it was just faulty wiring. My bedroom door used to open on its own...I think it was just air circulating in the house...the cat could open the door too...cause all you had to do was tap it lightly and it would open.

I have a Talking Evil Krusty the Clown Doll in the store...one day it just started talking on its own. If anyone has ever seen one of these...you have to pull its string to make it talk.

I am glad I have two cats and a dog. I just blame any weird noises or things disappearing on them...and we also get mice in the attic...so there is another source of weird noises. I should post a pic of my house...it's a very creepy, almost 100 year old place...two story with a basement and a walk-in attic. The door to the attic is in our master bedroom and there is a stair case to the attic. The attic has one big window that I have been thinkning of setting up one of those ghost projectors in for Halloween. It would scare the shit out of the kiddies.

It may be possible that when someone dies there is a soul/spirit that leaves the physical body. It may even be possible that some have seen these souls/spirits "ghosts". Fabric does not live, fabric does not die and fabric does not have a soul/spirit so I am thinking that no one is ever going to see a "ghost" wearing clothing as is often reported in these "ghost" tales.

But human bodies DO die. If you're saying that a soul lives on, then you're saying beyond the body's death. Why would the naked body survive? It makes sense that they're wearing clothes when they are seen, because they are just energy and this is how they are remembered, or this is how they think of themselves.

Most apparitions look gaseous, almost like smoke, I have yet to see one in FULL CLOTHING, I feel that is a lot of peoples ways of visualizing things.

EVP's are real, and are the scariest things you will ever hear.

You walk around during your hunt with a recorder, asking questions, just sitting there. marking times down where you felt temperature changings, or odd occurances.

I have heard some weird stuff, but I am also not a pro, like Dave and Sharon, and Ghost Web

Enjoy

I agree, so you would not see a clothed apparition.

A long time ago when I was a child we lived in an old house near a lake in New Hampshire.

It was heated only by a fireplace. The old man would fill it up before he went to bed, and later in the wee hours of the morning someone else would toss some more firewood in there to keep it going.

There was always a roaring fire going in the morning.

Then there is the Amargosa Opera House in Death Valley Junction.
That place is full of spooks.

I posted this in a similar thread from last year I believe, but it's a goodie...

Man, this is going to sound weird as hell but it's true. I am quite the skeptic. If I can't see something, it doesn't exist in my opinion (well, except for farts and sliding glass patio doors). It happened. If I weren't there myself, I would have never believed it.

Anyway, a little over a year ago, I was living in a nice 2 story house in a quiet residential area. One night, I had just gotten back from class and was talking with my girlfriend who lived there with me. She was sitting in the living room. One of her cats (L.B. - short for Little Bastard) was following me around as he always did when I got home, hoping I would play with him. He loved to play on the stairs so I though I would play with him for a little bit before I crashed.

We played about 2 minutes when L.B. completely froze at the bottom of the stairs and seemed to be staring at me. I came down the stairs towards him thinking he was just playing, but he moved to the side and continued to stare towards the top of the stairs. He continued to stare right past me with that scared, defensive cat stare until he seemed to be looking right past my head. He was a very mild mannered cat and never growled or hissed, but as he was looking past me, he let out a loud growl and hissed a couple of times.

Since I had never heard him do that, I backed away from him. As I backed up, I bumped into someone. Knowing that my girlfriend was in the living room, I jumped forward and spun around to see who it was and there was no one there. I about fainted. There was someone behind me that I could not see. I felt them as I backed up. It was as real as backing into someone while standing in line somplace. I was freaked so I walked forward into the living room as fast as I could to tell my girlfriend what happened. She thought I was full of shit until she heard L.B. hiss again. She was about to cry when I explained what had happened. Over the next year, there were a few more incidents that really scared the hell out of me. I won't bore you with the details unless you actually care.

Satan and i used to live in house with a ghost....never saw her, but felt her presence...she would move my things, turn on lights, and move things in the wardrobe....at night i could smell her perfume....we also had a male presence in the back yard, one day i heard my son(then 4) talking to somebody, i glanced round to see who he was speaking to...he was holding (no-ones hand)and looking up at them saying "my mummys in here silly".
personally it scared the shit out of me.

A friend of mine rented a furnished house. He had lived in the house for about two weeks when he called me and told me this story.
He said that one night he went to the frige in the kitchen to pour a glass of milk and found the refrigerator door open. He thought it was odd, but did not think that much about it. A couple of nights later the same thing happened, went to the kitchen and the refrigerator door was open, and again a couple of more times. He checked out the door to the refrigerator several times insuring himself that the door was working properly. He began to think that there was an intruder entering his house. So one night he armed himself and positioned himself in the dark so he could see into the kitchen and keep his eye on the refrigerator. Sure enough the refrigerator door opened, but no one was there, he repeated this for a couple of nights and the same thing happened. That is when he called me. I said bullshit, who was he trying to fool. He insisted he was telling the truth and told me to come over and see for myself. I did. I spent two nights with him one weekend and the refrigerator door did not open. He called me Monday night and told me that the refrigerator door opened again, and I said yeah right. He moved out of the house as soon as he found another one and insisted that every night he lived there he would find the refrigerator door open. He didn't do drugs and had an occasional beer, and was normal in every other way. I personally think he was just pulling my leg, but he always insisted that it actually happened.

ive got a few ghost stories that i can share.

First of all is my mother and sisters encounter with a ghost in my mothers bedroom. They were putting away some bed clothes in a drawer when they both looked up at the same time and in the mirrow saw the reflection of an old woman sitting up in my mums bed. Needless to say they both shit themselves and legged it out of the room and refused to return until my old man had checked it out. Since then no one has seen the old woman but a few other things have happened since, things have been found broken and even snapped in front of us. I remember one time being with my father in the kitchen when we heard a clatter from the living room. upon entering we saw that one of the horse brasses that hangs on the fireplace had been snapped. This was thick leather torn apart like a piece of paper. A few days before this my mothers handbag had been ruined when she discovered the strap ripped clean off.

My sister is also convinced that her new house is haunted. Since she has been there both her and my nephews have heard footsteps on the stairs, not just creaking floorboards but the actual sound of someone or something walking up the stairs. Other things like peoples mobiles answering themselves has happened in that house. More recently my sister was in bed watching tv when it suddenly fell off the wall, it had been wall mounted securely for over a year... Also iirc she had a lamp in her living room that turned itself on whilst she watched tv with her kids. About a week ago I went to her house with my folks because she had just got back from a holiday in spain. We were all sitting in her spare lounge and i was on the sofa beside the pc desk, suddenly the PC beeped, and booted itself from cold as if the power switch had been pressed. That was scary, but she says such things are common with the hifi turning itself on etc.

My final ghost story is of the house next door to me. An old guy Roy used to live there, he was a great guy and when i was young i used to be best mates with him (no he wasnt a kiddy fiddler) anyhow he died and his sister decided to rent out the house rather than sell it. The first family who moved in was a Doctor from burma and his wife and 3 daughters. One day his wife came around to talk to my mother and told how the night before she was in bed with her 3 daughters when they saw a mans shadow move along the wall in the main bedroom and into the upstairs toilet. Roy only ever used the upstairs toilet in the nights because he was too pissed to walk downstairs and out into the garden (yes even in winter he used the outside loo lol). Anyhow they were a little scared by it but Mrs Zoy explained that ghosts are considered to be good luck in Burma so she was quite happy to share with him about a year later 2 girls moved into the house and a few times they said that they thought they had seen a man moving across the room and even claimed that the upstairs toilet flushed itself from time to time

All pretty freaky stuff and possibly easily explained away, but it makes you think for sure. Just thought id share that with you

take care

Thanks for all the stories, guys! I didn't think this many people would respond to my post. Here's another story of mine that is real. It happened at my old house so I didn't mention it in my first post, but it's cool nonetheless.

I was laying in bed with my girlfriend at the time. I was about to turn 16, I believe. The windows were open upstairs, and all of a sudden, I heard my collie dog barking outside like he did many times. The only difference is that he had been dead for a year. We put him down on July 3rd of the year before (I remembered because it was the day before Independence Day). This was on the 3rd of July the next year. And his bark was outside.

Now, things to consider:

- We lived on four acres, so this dog was in OUR yard
- Our nearest neighbors had no dogs.
- Collies have a very distinctive bark
- It was one year exactly since his death!

I swear this is all true. I immediately said to my girlfriend when it happened, "that's Raff, my dog. That's him." and I teared up. He barked for about 30 seconds and then stopped completely. It was weird, I had no urge to even run down and look outside or turn lights on or anything. I knew it was him. Then my girlfriend spent the night trying to scare me into thinking that he was going to be walking around inside our house when we went downstairs.

Oh yeah, and my sister said she saw our other, tiny dog running around playing with what should have been Raff. Looking up at no one, but playing as if he was still there, just how she always used to with him. Granted dogs can be weird and just do bizarre things on their own like that, but you never know. He was quite a bit bigger than her, and apparantly she was looking up a lot while she did this. Makes you wonder.
