Sales Low?

Ok, I haven't been on here in a while but wanted to get back into it again. I've noticed my sales are about half of what they were even last year. Is anyone else experiencing this? We're actually working harder this year too.

Nope.

Our sales have increased every year. Even more so over the past 4 years. Every year is higher for all sites.

Honestly, I am surprised at our sales numbers currently for this, and last month. Normally we dip about 10-15% in the summer. But not so this year.

Well this gives me hope, thanks.

Do you submit galleries each day? What program is good? I have tons of sets I could turn into nice galleries.

Honestly, I only really promote my own content, and sites in my network. I do the occasional affiliate marketing. But I gave most of that up about two years back. I make more money promoting our own material.

Yes, still do submissions, board posts, and many other little things 5-7 days a week to keep the traffic flowing. But, we really try and do highly targeted niche traffic. Which is why our conversions as so good.

The days of throwing a bazillion hits at your shit hoping for a sale are over. That is why many are getting 1:10,000 ratios. We do more with less, and it works out nicely in the bank account.

Please don't crosslink them all together. lol

Spend a little time and do some research on some SEO. If you could rank the domains for their own names (ie ass fucking for assfucking.net) you will do fairly well. But crosslinking the mess of them will ensure you get 0 SE love.

I know you never said you were after any SE traffic, but reading that you would cross link them makes me think that you beleive it will help them.

Well i assumed linking ASS FUCKING to assfucking.net on each site would be better than only 1 wouldn't it?

Yes and no, linking them all up from the same domains just shows the search engine bots that they are all from the same network, and basically gives 0 weight to them. They wont count them as strong links if they are easily identifiable as coming from the same network or nest. They will not give you credit for linking to yourself, basically.

Much better off generating unique link patterns to each, then pushing the strong power to your "money sites". Which I would assume to be your main domain that sells your product/servive.

if each site is in a different server, it will be worth it, otherwise, the bots consider them all to be a network

What server they are on is only one small way to tell if its crosslinking, or from the same nest. The easiest way is backlinks and outbounds. When google looks at your whole network "the big picture" its to easy to point out that sites are from the same server, by the backlinks and by where those pages go. They see a complete snapshot of the web surrounding the domain in question.

Text, outbounds, images, page size, date, backlinks, even spelling mistakes, are all other ways they can easily catch you for creating your own little network.

Having 40 domains on differant c-classes, then linking them all up to one main one, is still going to get you caught. You could not produce enough seperate, quality backlinks to show them otherwise and chances are, would just turn into a wasted 40 domains.

Go for rankings that are rocks, make them last, why fuck around.

good post... getting penalized is a good way to ruin a domain, and a banned adult domain is really hard to get reincluded

My sig is kind of a parody, its not really meant to be a sales pitch, allthough I think that should be testimony to just how ironic the whole SEO for hire business is.

While I most likely would be interested in working something out, its my experience that most companies will not come even close to adequate compensation for time.

75% of all enquiries I answer turn into, "Push us and I will bump you to $XX.XX" And I'm not really on the hunt for new niches, atleast not in that way.

The other 25% get scared by numbers as small as $500 for a weeks worth of time. I'm not shy to tell ya I'm over that shit. I can pull that much dough while Pickeral fishin after supper tonite. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I'm also not ready to give up the gold for a days wage.

I will offer you some free advice, and I will also verify for you if someone is capable of producing for you, I honestly would NOT recommend paying someone to do it for you unless you are 100 per cent sure they are capable. But again, any of these people qualified will not work for cheap.

The most common penalties are pretty easy to identify. Begin by doing a site:www.domain.com search in google and verify its listing the pages in its index, if its a new site, you can also use this search to see what pages have been picked up.

Another common, and usually missed penalty that is very frequent is the google 950, i say common, because often people who lose their sites, or cant ever find them in serps, and upon investigation, we will find them back at the 950th result.

How to check? Go to google, search your keywords, and go all the way to the back of search results, then click the link to show all results including ones removed. After that, click to the end of results again, google will only show you 1000 results for any given term, max.

If you are listed in the last page of these results, after requesting to show all results, then you have been given the "950 penalty", duely named for the placement it puts sites back to.

This penalty is forgivable, and once corrected usually sites bounce back out to their expected serps sometimes as fast as a week later. I have personal experience with this type of return out of penalty on one site I own.

if your site is parked for a long time, chances are it is penalized in some way, but not necessarily as bad as banned

banned domains can be a real pain, especially in adult names, as they have to really prove their worthiness to be reincluded

a banned domain might not show up in serps ever even if you build a great site on it and have links and traffic, they need to be manually unbanned by google and it isn't easy with adult names

a banned domain will not show up in a site search on google (although that is not a guarantee that it is banned, just one symptom)

For those whose sales are down, consider maximizing for Europe - can you bill by direct debit in Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Netherlands?

Are you geo-targeting and have your pre-join and join pages translated specifically for the major EU markets where you have the most traffic?

I use CCBILL so the join pages can be easily translated and also offers regional pricing and direct eu debit.

So putting misspellings on purpose in blog posts is bad then? I do it occasionally. But I also do not have a network of my own that I'm linking to.

Misspellings and using them isnt bad, I was leaning more towards continually incorrectly spelling the same keywords repeatedly across all of your sites, or using the same "4 or 5 words" in the same context (and wrongly so it sticks out) on every site.

There is many ways they can identify it as a network with purpose to rank sites.

If you have crosslinked and been penalized, can you remove the links and gain back SE respect? Or is it ruined?

The short answer is that any penalty can be reversed, and that a banning is best to just walk away from. The long answer could only be answered after looking at the sites in question.

Generally, most people's sites are not penalized or banned, they (the engines) just don't give a shit about them.
