aff managers who have 0 traffic, 0 traffic exp, and 0 traffic know how

how the FUCK do they get these jobs?

now, im not going to call you out, but im sure you are going to read this.

you know SHIT about traffic, traffic production, or how to tie your own shoe.

telling me "our sites convert!" means shit. everyone makes that claim and has been since the start of the internet.

"we are 1:300 across the board" also means shit. i dont do tgps, but i know a few guys who do. im pretty sure tgp traffic has NEVER converted 1:300.. ever.

anyways, if you have no clue, please dont bother. i know traffic, ive been doing it for years. just becouse you now have a job at blowmebux.com dont mean youve got a clue.

All of the knowledgeable people who know about traffic are actual affiliates and program owners.

sorry double post because gfy is fuckin slow. Let me add this though. Most affiliate reps are there for answering simple questions like "where is my check" etc. For the most part... if you need an affiliate rep's help to make money, then you are in the wrong industry.

Well probaly beacuse main occupation of those people is to tell me people when it will be their payments and nothing else in most cases.

It even did it in years after '96. I did better than 1:300 while promoting several sites back in '99-2002 with mostly picture galleries.

But I do get what he's saying about certain reps. I recall having one or two on the phone years ago who were asking me all kinds of questions about "how it works with TGP's"... it was kind of shocking actually. They really should know the game inside and out if they're repping a program and supposedly giving webmasters advice, help, etc.

There are a few out there who are quite sharp though, have been around a long time and are themselves affiliates of the company they work for. It's easy to spot them too. They're not all show and no go.

Sad but true I´m a female webmaster, I have done pretty much everything on the affiliate side: traffic trading, gallery building + submission, free site building + submission, blog setting up and posting, paysites reviews, ad buying and selling, some seo, script installation, speak 3 languages fluently, worked in sales as a sales account executive for the telecom industry for 10 years, so if you want or ever need an affiliate rep or sales and you can afford me, just reach out for me ;)

Think of it the other way... an expert in traffic conversions working as a rep. What do you think they're doing all day? If it was me in their shoes, I'd be nosy as hell and looking at the referral logs and looking at their landing pages all day. Figuring out how they get their traffic and getting their joins. Then what do you think they're doing in their off-hours...

Between a complete idiot with no affiliate experience and someone who's experienced and nosy, I'll take the idiot. I'd feel my traffic is safer there.

:stop Well.. I have to agree with you brand0n!

People making claims without any real experience having actually done... , is only hype. People make comments about me and my knowledge about SEO even though I normally get within the first page of Google, but when I check out the sites of those who call me out they either don't have a website or they simply can't get a decent location within any of the search engines... when you go and confront them they say they have been doing their job for many years and therefor you must not know what you are talking about.

Its fine to read what others say about a subject, however, reading and excepting other opinion without testing out the validity of such information and passing it off as 100% fact is just wrong!

I just think there are a few who are really good at their job(s) and do not want to give their marketing edge away so they create convoluted processes and pass them off as fact to their friends and contacts...

Really the only thing I can think to say: is that if you are going to call anyone out on a subject you better be really good at what you do and have proof ready for other to see.

Everyone has to learn the ropes if they are serious about what they do... program owners who have no technical experience should not call down those who have actual experience and hide behind their position at their company.

I say this not out of spite of anyone, but rather to point out it happens a whole lot here at GFY and around the internet.

Later,

well....if they get your attention & don't piss you off

then they are doing their job

but i agree most of them aren't worth the $50 they get paid a week

companies who hand pick industry veterans.....now they are on the right path

pay a aff rep 75-250k a year if you want results......IMO

WRONG

(index0.html is AL4A)

you're right on everything else and all conversions took a really hard hit since January 2008 thanx to tube sites, . However, even though I've no time nor will to submit galleries, I still get sales from old listings and they're like 1:300 to 1:400. Let's put it this way: when I see a program converting worse than 1:800 with my own galleries (not FHG) then I know there are 3 options: a) the program really sucks ball b) they're scrubbing too hard (basically happens with Epoch) or c) they're shaving. Either way, not worth to promote them

Well thats my way of justifying sending traffic to the hot girl sales reps, lol. Hopefully they don't know where my traffic comes from and won't be as good as figuring it out ;)

I guess since I own all my sites that would make me the affiliate manager right? Well I know very little but at least I am honest about it I guess. Does that help?

yea....or gas prices went from $2 to $4.50

ok, I simplified it. Now, even though I didn't do any demographics or market research the change reflects a time confluence of 2 main aspects of the same business: worse conversions and tube sites emergence. I'm willing to bet my arm that is the main reason rather than gas price or "blue collar" disposable income, but if you have any demographics I'd be very happy to hear about it, really mean it, if you have them and want to discuss it hit me up on ICQ. I don't have any demographics so for now I'll stick to the obvious cause/effect until shown otherwise

btw: the worst conversions are consistent globally and not every country in the world faces the same economy problems US does, but they all have access to tube sites, so that kind of makes a strong point on what I said

I totally agree with you on this one. Some REAL aff rep's make nice coin on % along with their own traffic/sites.

TGP traffic converts... I run mostly low or no skim TGP/MGPs.... I think CJ sites suck ass but they tend to be confused with TGPs...

Now I see why you do that... lol

Any Rep that does not do their homework .. or I guess in this case it's their day job..
Needs to spend sometime building a few sites and sending diffrent traffic to it..
It`s not like they don`t have a few connections to make it that much easier for them...

How else do you really know whats working and whats not. `
I'll never understand why a rep would not want to learn everything they can and put some time in and building something of their own..
In the long run it will just make them better at what they do and feeds more cash in to their pockets.
Remember most reps make a something off every sales that webmasters send their way.

I don't have any demographics so for now I'll stick to the obvious cause/effect until shown otherwise

i will give you ...maybe a 15% decrease based on the increasing availability of free porn.....it used to be a "power user" loss....but now tube sites are making the everyday user into a leecher....you're right

but the overwhelming majority of people right now are just losing their disposable blue collar income to rising costs in virtually ALL everyday costs

i will say i am in fact a demographics man as well....so I'm not just spitting random gibberish out of my mouth....sure the %'s might be off by 10 points....but I'm close, just trust me

No, no, I trust you, hence why I asked you if you had any demographics that you would like to share/discuss. We're working on some project that was scheduled to be launched almost 6 months ago and we're collecting data of every possible source, testing and researching almost anything you'd think of and we noticed the "jump from the cliff" around January, although I understand the price of oil, the record in unemplyment in US, the mortgage matter and so on has to make an impact, but we're trying to research globally rather than regionally or it would take forever, esp when we're not seeing a dime, just preparing data before launching.

Anyway, I'm going to sleep, but if you don't mind sharing your info, I'll repeat my invitation to discuss on ICQ or you can just send me a mail to webmaster ¿| cssxl ¿| com if you want

What I love are the "affiliate reps" who tell me that they're switching me from PPS to revshare because "my traffic doesn't convert" but they'd love to work with me on fine tuning my sites.

THE TRAFFIC DOESN'T CONVERT BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SHOULD GO INTO A SMOKING PAYSITE - AND THE TRAFFIC I SEND KNOWS WHAT ISN'T IN YOUR SITE SO THERE'S NO WAY THEY'RE GOING TO CONVERT. INSTEAD OF TELLING ME YOU WANT TO TELL ME WHAT DO WITH MY SITES....WHY DON'T YOU ASK ME HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR SITES CONVERT????

Quoted for truth. And if there's somebody who knows his niche, is Mike, after learning A LOT about it with him I just cracked listening to people who were about to launch smoke sites or producers trying to make smoking content, most of them are doing the exact opposite of what smoking fetish is about

I might add around 90% of sites catering to specific fetishes or microniches don't have any idea about what they're doing. And it happens even on big niches, ie I'm surprised at big boobs sites, other than Score I still haven't found a big boobs site really knowing what big boobs lovers are looking for. Or just BOOBS lovers, as we're at it. Everybody thinks: "OK, she has big boobs. Done" And the big boobs are just the "vehicle" to get to the real object of desire, so any boobs sponsor using that would increase their conversions greatly, but problem is this industry uses the kind of "affiliate representatives" Brand0n and MikeSmoke mentions. And the whole concept of "marketing" is just a guy who pays for drinks. And let alone research, psychology, business engineering, etc that simply doesn't exist. And those who have it don't tell anyone

Thanks, Harvey And you're right, the "It's easy, I'll hit the (fill in the blank) niche by buying a bunch of (fill in the blank) content" approach is why there are so many hundreds or thousands of paysites out there that are basically just taking up space.

And BTW, the noobs or the people here who don't know Harvey should read, then reread, and then re-re-read all of his posts (and not just in this thread) --- he's one of the few here who knows the biz from a multitude of perspectives, and has done a bunch of different things very, very well. He GETS it, and when he shares info, it's worth reading and remembering

About a year ago I almost got one of these "Traffic manager" positions........ I am glad I didn't because I am doing better by myself .... maybe I now know a lil bit about traffics

But In regards to the thread topic... I have to agree ... There are clueless people hiring clueless guys who "claim" to know something ... I have nothing against that... I just wish them the best!
