Im building a race car... Selling my S7 and Bought a new Aston Martin DBS

Well, I'm selling my S7 The car is up for sale if anyone has some extra money laying around.. lol

I know a lot of you are car fans so I figured I would share

I bought a new Aston Martin DBS and took it to a track day at California speedway. The DBS handeled so much better then I could have ever expected as I scorched everyone around the road course. The car isn't SUPER fast with 520 horses but it gets the job done. It was the first DBS in California when I bought it a few months ago and what a hot looking car. I just wish I had another 100 ponies in it

So to make it a bit more fun I brought my Dinan S3 M5. This car is full race suspension, some pretty sticky street tires, blower, cams, clutch, intake, header, brakes, have all been done by Dinan and the car is around 650 horses of pure raw power and torque. Now this car is a blast to drive. Nobody could come close to keeping up especially when we hit the straight aways. The main problem with this car is that it weighs 5000lbs.. yes that's right 5000... And it's still amazing. Shit, even my CL65 v12 only weighs 4500lbs.

So yea, I'm smoking around the track thinking Im all tough and then here comes this red car in mirror. I see him catching me in the corners but then I pulled away slightly on the straight aways. The next set of corners he pulled up on me like I was standing still. I couldn't believe it. This red car was a wide body, fully raced out with track tires and to watch this thing go around the track blew me away. I know it's half the weight but still. I was jealous. The car was Subaru WRX with around 550 horses. I had him take me for some laps on the track to see what I was missing out on and I couldn't believe how fast it actually was. And the handeling was amazing.

So basically the one car I have that will smoke anything on the track is the S7. However since Saleen closed down I'm afraid to take it out because if I smash a corner or something it would cost me an ureal amount of money to fix it. So the S7 is for sale now. it will be a sad day to watch that thing pull out of my driveway.

In the meantime I have decided to build a race car that If I crash wont cost me a million dollars to fix.. lol I was going to build a Subaru WRX until I saw the new body style.. ugh it's uuuugly and a hatchback which I can't stand. So I decided to get the new Mitsubishi EVO X. I'm gutting the car and building a full cage in it. The motor is going to cosworth for a rebuild and Im putting the biggest intercooler and turbo I can on it. The suspension will be fully done as will everything else in the car. The gas tank was removed and a fuel cell put in the trunk along with carbon fiber NOS systems mounted in the trunk as well. I left the carpet and back seats, however I put race seats in the front and the roll bar will go through the dash. The radio and AC will stay for about 6 months. See before I can completely gut the car I need to have it on the street as a sleeper for a few months. Street racing as a kid was something that I loved. And I love a sleeper. Below is a picture of the car I bought. I actually going to repaint the car in a flat matte black with a glossy red Silver Sinema "S" on the side... I also attached a pic of a flat black car for reference. The EVO is set to be a race car in street clothes with 600+ horsepower before NOS. Lowered, race wing, the whole bit. Im hoping to have it completed in September.

Mike, you might want to look at the BMW 135 for racing as well. I spoke with a guy that does aftermarket BMW performance parts (mainly computer chips / tuning / etc), and he's saying this car has been really easy for him to tweak.

Just a thought, since you are going with the Evo now.

Love your DBS. My fav car. I'm going to a track day in the next two weeks to race a Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin and a Porsche. 12 laps in each one. I'll post pics when I get back. Gonna ask them if I can take my BMW Z4 round the track too, just for fun

I just got the new R&T and they were equally surprised with the DBSs performance! They took 10 cars to a couple different tracks including Willow Springs Streets of Willow course as well as the Big Willow course and the DBS did way better then they thought, they said it handled impressively well

any pics of the S7, Mike?

Hey Mike,
I have the Mitsubishi too. I love that car inside and out. I've owned 15 cars before and this one is my hands down favorite. From cornering to acceleration to noise to ... well there's NOTHING about the car I could even try to pick on.

You could get a 2002ish Corvette C5 Z06 for about $25k, put slicks on it, racing harness, roll cage and maybe some upgraded suspension parts (<$10k) and commence with the track ownage.

ever consider http://www.factoryfive.com/gtmhome.html

if you get into REALLY curvy tracks you can't even really go wrong with a cobra replica... I'm a fan of the ones with the BMW suspensions. In ANY race the most important things are the HP to weight ratios.

Quote:
In a world where thundering Supercars routinely crest 3500 lbs, the track-tested and tuned 2350 lb. GTM is a refreshing return to sportscar fundamentals. Factory Five lightning strikes with a hp/wt ratio similar to that of a Daytona Prototype. With a stock LS7 powerplant, the car maintains a 4.8 lbs per hp ratio. Connected to the pavement via huge 335 series rear tires, it enjoys acceleration numbers better than almost any production vehicle on the road today.

The GTM is faster 0-60 mph than a Ferrari Enzo, a Porsche GT, a Saleen Twin Turbo S7, a Ford GT, and a Lamborghini Mucielago*! The GTM even beats out a Champ car to 60 mph! **
best of all? you can buy a whole new kit for like $20k so even if you seriously fuck it up you know repairs won't cost you more than that... Those specs are a STOCK LS7 (corvette engine) and of course they come to life fairly cheap. Obviously if you're looking at a cobra factory five is NOT the best... this GTM though rivals the saleen S7 you say you love so much...
