Ok, everyone is in panic mode. The DOW is dropping like a rock. The basic rule of "buy low sell high" is being overridden by panic and people are in "bought high now sell low" mode.

So when is a good time to buy stocks? Do you buy when a stock hits 80% of it's original value? 70%, 60%?

Or do you go for those stocks that have hit 10% of their value and hope they are don't go belly up and return to 100% in the next 5 years?

I have no concern that in 5 years, the dow will be back to 10,000 - this I have complete confidence. The question is, what to buy in that middle time?

why dont you split your capital in 10 portions and buy the same stock 10 times over the next months or so, this should spread your risk a little and give you a very decent average cost.
once the market falls out of this free fall, i would expect it to increase fairly quick again, but the question is which stocks to buy..

I've been wondering about IBM, I'm hearing a lot about that company for the first time in years with their new Green campaign.

Most stockmarkets have dropped over 50% this year, the DOW have some more to go.
